Chapter Text
For a long time, humans were considered the top of the food chain, but there are beings that hunt them as a source of food... these monsters that eat the dead flesh of humans. They are called... ghouls.
Melancholy becomes the mystery of this woman who lives like a parasite.
Two people were sitting in a small local coffee shop, more specifically a woman with shoulder-length black hair, wearing a dress shirt accompanied by a wool vest over it. She wore a knee-length skirt and a pair of dress shoes.
'On the 28th, parts of a man's body were found on the street near the Takada building. Fluids that were believed to be those of a ghoul were found at the scene. Investigators are considering this to be the work of a species of "eater" and are starting an investigation in the surrounding areas.
There are fears of an "eater" attacking the city of Tokyo... but what do they really look like? Today we're going to ask Dr. Ogura, a researcher who studies "Eater" species.'
"Scary, the Takada building is quite close to here." Commented the fake blond sitting in front of the young woman. The young man really dressed like someone his age, wearing a headset hanging around his neck, a yellow jacket with a white t-shirt underneath, and obviously his famous baggy jeans.
"You'd be eaten in a second, Kaneki, a skinny kid like you who's always reading incomprehensible books." The young man commented to his friend Keneki, obviously making fun of the girl.
"Why- What do you mean incomprehensible? Hide, if you just picked up a book you'd understand..." Kaneki commented, lowering his coffee cup on the table a little.
"It's useless, I'd fall asleep after five seconds." Said Hide, lowering his head on the coffee table, looking at his friend wearily. Reading really wasn't for him, just thinking about reading as much as his friend was exhausting him.
"Anyway, I've never seen any 'ghouls'. Do they really exist? Monsters that eat people..." Kaneki asked. To her, that story seemed like a child's invention, it reminded her of her time in elementary school...
"Well, I heard that they disguise themselves as humans and reside in wait, then they suddenly appear, or something like that." Hide said, lying down even more on the table.
"Disguise themselves, huh..." Kaneki started to think.
"Hey Neki, maybe you're a ghoul!" Hide said, returning to his characteristic mood.
"Imbec. If I were a ghoul I think you'd be dead by now Hide-you say 'disguised as' but anyway aren't they just 'monsters in the form of men'?"
"Let's cut to the chase Neki... how- who was that pretty girl you were telling me about? huh~ is that the one over there?" Hide started, pointing to a waitress.
"Hide, you're drawing too much attention, and no, it's not her." Kaneki started to feel embarrassed by his best friend's actions.
"Excuse me! Can I order something?! I'll have a cappuccino! And you?!" He said referring to his friend 'Neki'.
"N-no, I'm f-fine, I-I'm not done yet..." Kaneki replied quietly, already dying of embarrassment.
After Hide bothered the poor waitress a little more, asking her her name and if she had a boyfriend, even with Kaneki's protests in the background. The girl finally left a little later, and obviously Kaneki gave his best friend (and maybe the only one she had) a good scolding for bothering the girl and almost ruining her chances with-
*Trim*
A young woman with long lilac hair and red-rimmed glasses enters the coffee shop. She wears a tight blue long-sleeved shirt under a long white dress that ends a little past her knees, and greenish white tights accompanied by a pair of pink ballet flats with blue details.
"I-it's her..." Kaneki said shyly to his friend. Hide looked at her for a few seconds, still in shock at the beauty of the girl he had just seen. His eyes flickered between his friend and the beautiful girl, he quickly lowered his head a little, gaining a dark aura and placing his hands on his friend's shoulder.
"Kaneki~" Hide began, giving his friend a mischievous smile: "Miss Kaneki Kei~ I hope you enjoy your day, if you know what I'm talking about~" Hide said, winking at his friend: "Well, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go, you know how it is, I need to work, have fun, and tell me how it went later!" Hide said, giving his friend a few small elbow bumps. He stood up and left some money on the table, and finally left the cafeteria.
Kaneki, to say the least, was dying of embarrassment. It wasn't the first time Hide had made sexual innuendos towards her and her love interests, not that she really minded, it was a joke between the two of them, but now he had caught her by surprise. She sighed and looked once more at the young woman with long lilac hair, she was beautiful, and with that factor in mind Kaneki told herself once again that the chances with that girl were minimal.
Rize, on the other hand, had her eyes on the black-haired girl at the table next to her. She had never tried to try out a girl before. It was much easier to attract men. However, that girl's scent drove her crazy. She would give anything just to have a drop of the girl's blood in her mouth. She watched her. This time, their eyes met, and the girl quickly looked away. Rize covered her mouth with her book and licked her lips. If this girl really was as shy as she seemed, then her next meal was guaranteed, and she wouldn't even need to put in much effort. Rize smiled at the mere thought. Yes, she would make sure to enjoy her meal. Rize stood up and began walking towards the counter with her tray. Kaneki concentrated even more on his book. She didn't want to think about the pretty girl walking towards her now, and how many opportunities she had already missed. She had already settled for nothing happening. There was no way she could just pluck up the courage and talk to the girl. The lilac-haired girl accidentally bumps into Kaneki's book, dropping it. Rize quickly looks at the book that fell in front of her. Yes, now was her chance to finally take the first step. However, before Rize can say anything, she is interrupted by the girl.
"S-s-sorry... I'm sorry!" Kaneki starts, desperate.
Rize lets out a small 'Oh.' and crouches down to pick up the girl's book. She looks at the book in her hands and quickly stands up. She stares at the book for a while longer and looks at the girl: "That's interesting. I was reading that book too. Do you like Takatsuki Sen?" Rize says, referring to the book 'The Egg of the Black Goat'. She had to take her chance.
"Y-y-yes! I absolutely love Takatsuki Sen! I... um... I love mysteries!" Kaneki quickly responds excitedly. Rize soon agrees and they start a small conversation.
Touka watched the conversation between the two from afar, she already had an idea of what Rize wanted from the girl.
~~~~~~
"So, did you get a date?" Hide began, looking at his friend. He was legitimately happy for her, after all, the girl in front of him seemed overjoyed at the idea of a date with her crush.
"Yes! Her name is Kamishiro Rize. This time we're going to exchange romance recommendations!" Kei said, clenching her hands into fists, then she continued: "It's my first date! And what's more, it's the dream date at a bookstore!" She breathed, "Hide... my heart was touched deeply." Kei said tearfully.
"I really don't understand the appeal of a date at a bookstore, but whatever, go for it!" Hide said, giving his friend a thumbs up.
~~~~~~
Dazai Osamu wrote at sunset... "The people I want to trust are born for love and revolution." I'd like to think the same way...
'Ahh, what clothes should I wear?' Kaneki thought to herself as she closed her eyes and stretched out on the bed, she put down her book and continued eating her famous bean bread.
'An incident identical to the one that happened in Shirakami. The composition of the fluids matches those left at the scene of the incident on the 28th.'
~~~~~~
"So, Kei-chan, what's your number one recommendation?" Rize asked Kei. She was looking at the girl interested, not exactly for her, of course, but for the divine scent she gave off.
"Takatsuki's first work, perhaps?" Kaneki began shyly. She thought that maybe by the end of this meeting she would fall apart.
"Oh! Dear Kafka!" Rize said, finally paying attention to the girl in front of her, and not to her scent. Rize continued: "That trick with the letters really got me." Kaneki ate some of his spaghetti. Rize continued: "Speaking of Takatsuki, her collection of short stories are interesting too. Like the 'Monochrome Rainbow'..."
Kei slid her gaze to Rize's low-cut dress, her face becoming covered in a deep blush. Kamishiro observed the girl in front of her, obviously she noticed Kei's gaze on her cleavage, she quickly covered her lips with her hand, and gave a small smile. Ah Kaneki Kei~ Your beautiful victim, small and fragile, so easy to break, so easy to manipulate. Rize wanted to play more with her small and fragile mouse, but that scent wouldn't allow it. How she would like to rip Kaneki's throat out right now.
"Ah, Rize-san, aren't you going to eat your sandwich?" Kei asked curiously. What's the point of ordering a sandwich if you're not going to eat it?
"Ah, no. I've been eating a lot lately, so I'm on a kind of... diet." Rize said. She wasn't lying, she skipped a few meals just to enjoy her little Kei even more.
The day passed quickly. Kei and Rize went to a few bookstores, chatted a little in the park about some novels, and walked around the city. For Kei, that was one of the best days of her life, the perfect date, without a shadow of a doubt. Rize, however, found that day unbearable, she was practically bursting, and honestly she was surprised that she could stand to spend the whole day so close to Kei and not take at least a bite of her, but Rize wasn't made of iron, for her it was now or never.
Neither of them knows exactly how they ended up talking about their blood types, but here they were, heading home and talking about their similarities.
"Are you an AB type, Rize-san? You know, I am too." Kei commented excitedly. She would love to spend some more time with Rize-san.
"Really? What a coincidence." Rize began: "Our reading tastes are similar too, and oh! We're the same age. We have a lot in common, don't we, Kei-chan?" Rize finished.
Kei looked at Rize and smiled. She really wanted to do this again.
Touka quickly walked past the two and glanced at Kei for a moment. She felt sorry for the girl, she seemed like a good person. 'Kill or be killed' the phrase quickly crossed her mind, and any feeling of empathy for the girl was discarded. She would be a hypocrite if she helped her.
"Thank you for today, Kei-chan," Rize declared.
"Oh no, it was my pleasure Rize-san, you know, I had a lot of fun today!" Kaneki continued: "Maybe we could meet again, ah! Sure, if you want."
"Of course! That's a great idea, Kei-chan." Rize declared.
"Ah, I'll go this way, so-" Kaneki was interrupted by Rize.
"Ah, um, you know Kei-chan, I get a little worried about walking alone, so could you come with me? My house is just before the street from the Takada building. There was an incident there recently." Rize commented. Her suffering would be over now, and she would finally have the chance to taste a little bit of little Kei.
"Oh... ghouls?" Kei asked nervously. Doubting their existence was one thing, proving it was something she wasn't particularly interested in.
"Yes, I get scared walking home alone. I think about it so much that I can't sleep. Rize was gaining a dark aura.
The two young women headed towards Rize's 'house'. The silence of the streets was filled with the girls' meaningless chatter, especially Kei's. The conversation was soon broken by a quick movement from Rize, who pulled Kei into a hug. Rize smiled close to the blushing girl's ear.
"R-Rize...?" Kei was interrupted.
"Kei-chan, I noticed you were watching me." Rize whispered in Kaneki's ear: "I... you know... I was watching you." Rize bit her.
Kei falls to the ground, holding her bloody shoulder, doing her best to stop the newly opened wound. She looked at Kamishiro, the woman was licking her bloody lips. Looking into Rize's black eyes, Kei finally got her confirmation, 'ghoul' she thought. Kei crawled on the ground, in an attempt to get away from Kamishiro.
"Well, well, are you okay? Ka-ne-ki. Hehe." Rize takes a deep breath of that delicious scent that her beautiful Kei is emanating. She continues: "You know Kei-chan, there's a scene in 'The Egg of the Black Goat' that I really love. Where the black goat grabs the girl who is running away in fright... and rips out all her entrails... no matter how many times I read that part... IT ALWAYS MAKES ME SHIVER!" Rize smiles maniacally: "Hehe. Your expression is weird. Yes, it's me... it never occurred to you, did it? That I'm a ghoul?"
Kei panicked. Her eyes widened, her breathing quickened. She had to find a way to get out quickly if she wanted to survive. Kei looked at the monster in front of her once more. Maybe this would be the last thing she would see.
"Kei-chan, you're making me tremble!" Rize approached. Kei, in the midst of her despair, tried to run. Rize smiled: "Hahahahaha, wait, Kei-chan!"
'What is this? What is this, what is this, what is this... she... what did she say? ghoul?' Kei ran, and Rize came right after her. She was pressed to the ground by Rize's kagune.
"I got you! Kei-chan, this must be the first kagune you've ever seen, I'm happy to be the first!" Rize licked her lips: "I'll gently scratch it inside your stomach for you!" Rize finished. For a moment she enjoyed the sight in front of her, the sweet young woman sprawled on the ground, trembling and bleeding, if she had a camera she would immortalize the young woman in it.
Kei was panting. In a quick movement she tried to pierce the kagune of the woman in front of her with a mechanical pencil that was next to her discarded backpack, it bent but it was enough to distract Kamishiro. She gets up, staggering sideways, and runs in the opposite direction of Rize.
'Do you think I'm an idiot?! Now that I think about it... when I bumped into you at that moment... meeting me on the holiday... it was all planned from the beginning!!'
'No matter what happens, I can't escape anymore.' Kei thinks quickly.
Rize's kagune hits her in the stomach, and she is thrown against one of the walls of the Takada building. Blood flows from her mouth, and she can feel the world going dark. Rize says something, but she no longer has the strength to listen. The pain is nonexistent, she feels all her senses being numbed, feels her muscles relaxing, and her eyelids closing. She hears a loud pop and finally blacks out.
~~~~~~
'Her abdomen... lost... intestines dislocated...!! Transplant her organs INTO HER...!!'
I'm not the protagonist of a novel or anything like that. I'm a college student who likes to read, as you'll find anywhere else. But if for the sake of the plot you were to write a story with me in the lead role... it would certainly be...
A tragedy.
