**What if Rem died on her way back in arc 3**
Subaru sat there his bed. The room was almost dead silent, the only sound being a light drip on Subaru's sheets. What was dripping?
Blood.
More specifically, Subaru's blood.
He had been scratching at his arms for a while, to the point where he scratched open the skin, letting blood drip out. So much had come out to the point where Subaru's pure white sheets were beginning to take on a light shade of pink.
But Subaru, didn't care about the sheets. There was only one thing on his mind.
**Rem**
She...was dead.
After the defeat of the White Whale, Rem and the royal candidate Crusch Karsten had taken a wagon back to the capital. Subaru himself was on a different wagon, primarily because he had to deal with the Sin Archbishop of Sloth.
Then it happened.
The wagon that was bringing Rem and Crusch back, along with the other wagons accompanying them, had been attacked.
Which led to the death of Rem.
Subaru had looped multiple times to try and save her. But no matter how many times he looped, how fast he ran, and how determined he was, he still failed. And Rem still died.
As for the attackers....
The attackers weren't exactly known, mainly because there were barely any survivors. And the ones who did survive had lost all their memories.
Subaru had talked to Puck about it briefly, and Puck told Subaru that the memory loss was a effect of the Authority of Gluttony. Which allowed Subaru to know that one of the attackers, was likely the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony.
**Sin Archbishops**
The most dangerous and powerful individuals of the Witch Cult.
**The Witch Cult**
Subaru hated the Witch Cult. How many loops had they appeared? How many times had they slaughtered his freinds? Slaughtered innocents? Petelguese (AKA:Sin Archbishop of Sloth) himself had caused great suffering, hell, he too killed Rem. And now, there was this Gluttony person.
Subaru felt enraged, how much did the Witch Cult have to take from him?! HOW MUCH?!
Subaru wished he could destroy that damned Cult. Tear it apart from the inside.
And then Subaru remembered something.

"Wh-what?! Subaru I know you're still grieving but..."
The stunned individual who was speaking, was no other than the Sword Saint himself.
**Reinhard Van Aestra**
"This is utterly insane!" Reinhard finished.
"I know this sounds crazy Reinhard, but I think it will work."
The black haired boy with sharp eyes who was trying to convince Reinhard about his absurd plan, was Subaru.
"I'm practilly covered in the Witch's scent, and when I was fighting Sloth, he kept on rambling about how he thought I was Pride."
Reinhard still looked uncertain.
"Subaru...infiltrating the Witch's Cult is extremely dangerous. One mistake and-"
"I won't make any mistakes Rein. I have a plan, or at least...half of one."
Reinhard sighed and looked at the sharp eyed boy. He saw pure determination, but under that, hatred, and the desire for revenge.
"Subaru...please. I want you to reconsider this."
Reinhard almost pleaded.
"I'm sorry Rein, but there's no way to talk me out of this."
Subaru replied.
Reinhard just nodded.
"I see then. If this is what you truly want...I won't stop you."
Subaru smiled slightly.
"Thanks Rein. And one more thing. Don't tell anyone else about this. Except for that council of sages of course. I don't want too many people knowing about this."
Reinhard look a little stunned at that request, but nodded.
"I-I see Subaru. I'll make sure to only inform the Council of Sages of your...misson."
Reinhard assured Subaru.
To that, Subaru smiled.
"Thanks Rein! Well...I'll make sure to check in with you time to time to give you info on the Cult."
And with that, Subaru said his goodbye to Reinhard, and started his journey to infiltrate the Witch's Cultm
