Work Text:
A crystal rolls down her cheek
into the ashes of youth
A dark spot and a million years
Emaciated, she is left to drown
in the rain of her own tears
Her leg is on fire
but what’s the point?
I can still see the claw marks on the wall
The ones she–Kiara–made before scarlet stained
her neck and chest like a shawl
and the girl seized her last breath
Amy Chao was also engulfed in fierce flames,
until her soul no longer inhabited flesh
Even now, I can find myself akin to my friends of heart
as my body may have escaped, but my mind has not
I never knew the two could be apart
in a place other than death.
