Work Text:
“I heard that you made a great deal last month, congratulations,” Agatha has her arm around Rio’s waist, another hand holding a glass of champagne, talking to their target.
“Haha not trying to brag but, I'm proud that my team made the deal with a very low price,” the man said with an ego.
“How did you pull that off? I believe it takes a man like you to lead a team,” Rio praises him, trying to push his ego to get more information.
“Let's say, I'm good at numbers and logic. Your simple mind wouldn't get it,” he takes a puff of cigarette and exhales. Agatha quietly pulled Rio away from the smoke.
“Do you think there is any chance for us to work together? I have some pretty good offerings,” Agatha raises her glass of champagne.
The man ignores her motion. “I don't do business with women. Now excuse me.”
“Hey-” Rio tries to protest but Agatha holds her back, places a kiss on her temple. She whispers against her ear, “he won't tell us who is behind him. We have to get close to the second-in-command of their company but he's not here today. That's work for another day.”
Agatha places one more kiss on Rio’s cheek. “Darling let's dance for a bit then we will head back to the hotel.”
Rio's face is burning when Agatha leads her to the dance floor. All she's thinking is Agatha's lips on her skin, all the pet names she had used the whole day, her voice, her presence. She knows this is unprofessional, but she just can’t help it. She already had a crush on her detective boss when she first arrived at the station and the undercover as wives is not helping.
Her mind is fuzzy, but her sense quickly comes back. She doesn't want Agatha to think she's not good at her job, she wants to impress her. She starts observing who their target is talking to and sees if any other businessmen seem suspicious when they're dancing.
They decide to leave the venue after two songs, thinking they've got enough information for the day.
When Agatha opens their hotel room door, she immediately notices someone has been here when they're out. She shuts the door and pushes Rio against it, both hands holding her still.
“Wh- What are you doing?” Rio panics, eyes not knowing where to look.
Agatha drawing signals in Rio's palm with her finger. Rio feels like her heart is about to burst out. She cannot think straight, her brain is not working. She can only feel the sensation on her palm.
When Agatha sees Rio only looking at her with wide eyes, not showing any kind of understanding, she leans forward. Rio holds her breath, their lips are so close that if she lets go, they'll touch. There're some imaginations going wild in her head.
“Rio, someone was here when we're out. I will go check on the left if there's any camera, you'll go on right. You copy that?” Agatha says with a voice that only they can hear while tiling her head to the right, so they look like they're kissing.
Rio wakes up from her daydream, quickly nods her head. They part away and check for the cameras.
“Honey, can you get me a can of coke? I remember there's two in the fridge.” Agatha says while taking off her jewelry.
Rio opens the fridge, pretending to search for the coke. “Well, there's only one left.”
“Oh, guess I will save it for tomorrow then.”
“I can buy you one tomorrow, you can still have it now.”
“No, I have to reduce the amount of coke I consume.”
“Okay,” she closes the fridge and heads to the bathroom.
Three cameras, great. She is about to explode and acting until tomorrow is quickening her death. I have to sleep with Agatha on the same bed. I'm going to sleep with her on the same bed. God, I'm gonna die of a heart attack.
After putting out her hair, Rio hides behind the wardrobe door and changes into her pajamas.
“Baby, help me unzip?”
When Rio sticks her head out, what she sees gets her in a chokehold. The zip of Agatha's purple dress is down to the middle, showing a glimpse of her back.
At least I will die happy. She gets closer to Agatha excitedly and nervously, hands slowly reach to her back. Her fingers fumble, unable to pull the zip down. Sweat is starting to gather on her forehead. “I…give me a second. It stuck.”
Agatha decides to tease her a bit. “I thought you're good with your fingers,” she smirks.
Rio's face heats up, finally able to unzip the dress. Her breath hitches when she sees her full back. She freezes on her spot, hand still on the zip.
“Enjoy the view?” Agatha murmurs, her voice low and hoarse. Rio hates how her voice has such an effect on her, her confidence is intoxicating to her.
“You hurry to change and take off your makeup. I'm tired and need to sleep,” Rio says quickly and leaves the scene before her hand could betray her and touch.
When Agatha comes out from the bathroom, Rio is already hidden under the blanket. Agatha can't help but smile. This rookie is cute. She admits she did purposely tease Rio this whole day just to see her reactions.
She slips into the bed and comes face to face with Rio. The room is dimly lit. Their eyes meet, it's like they're having a staring contest. The blanket is starting to get warmer. It's so quiet that Agatha thinks she can hear Rio's heartbeat. (Not that the heartbeat is quiet)
Rio is the one who moves the gaze first and breaks the silence. She is blushing a bit too hard now. That woman's eyes can kill people.
“Did I look stupid today? I mean, it's my first time going to an event with you.”
“You did good sweetheart, every part you did good.”
“Any improvement suggestions?”
“Well, maybe don't daze out too much when I'm talking to you,” Agatha chuckles.
“If you stop talking to me with that voice, I can do that.” Rio puffs out her cheeks.
“What voice?” Agatha changes to use the voice Rio's talking about.
“That voice! …you did that on purpose!”
“What’s wrong with me teasing my wife?”
“We're just pretending…” Rio lowers her voice.
Agatha moves closer to Rio, holding her face, “Why do you think I chose you, out of all the people, to go undercover with me?”
“So…all the touches and name calling, it's not all for the play?”
“Not all.”
Rio's face lights up. “Of course, you're also really good at your job as a rookie,” Agatha says with a soft smile.
Agatha pulls Rio into an embrace. “I know your feelings. When we get back, we will talk about this.” She places one last kiss on her forehead, and they fall asleep.
