cass has always prides herself as being independent and empowered. never settling for less, always putting herself first. people surrounding her sees that. they admire her for that. her friends especially.
"kay cass ako pinaka naeexcite eh," her close friend once said. "with her standards? excited ako sa kung sino mang ipapakilala niya sa'tin na significant other."
putangina. bakit may pressure pati sa jowa?
cass has always been above and beyond. an academic achiever, a reliable leader. a loud activist. a responsible child, a giving sister. the mother friend.
study first? engraved in her youth. acing exams all the while being an active class president? easy peasy. a promising career? secured a job early during her graduating years.
it will be intimidating to ever approach a woman as established as cassidy kim. she's very much secured to the point that she's not afraid of independence and of being alone.
but im just a girl. nangungulila rin pagsapit ng alas dyes ng gabi. di naman nga kasi nangyayakap ang kahit anong diploma at career job pag emo hours na.
and truly, one cannot simply have it all.
alongside the pressure the people around her unknowingly put on her about her choice for a partner—she has not been that lucky...
sure, being bisexual opens even more quote unquote options for preference. and she's not bad looking either. she won't brag about it but she's got the looks (and wit, but we already know that)
but damn having a wider range of preference makes it the more difficult.
although cass was particularly not a newbie in the field of love, she's not that experienced at all.
having only been exposed to 1 "almost" everything (pinning that lasted 4 dreading years, through middle school and high school) (if it's mutual, we would have never known because sander choi is now in a long term relationship with his current girlfriend); 1 serious relationship (that unexpectedly lasted 2 years) (with eunice jung from her college who was so perfect for cass then but now hates her guts now, understandably); and 1 situationship (with a confusing time frame) (and an even more confusing eli yoon at that) — cass is not particularly a loser in the field. but she's not much exactly of a winner too. let's be honest.
eli yoon was supposedly everything she wanted. at the time. until she actually started talking to the guy.
at first, it was eli who finally made the first move to slide into her dms. but even before that, the constant unabashed liking of each other's posts and stories has always been there. both of them would never admit but they've got harmless crushes for each other during college. and they both got girlfriends at the time. now this is where the confusing time frame hits.
cass was the usual valedictorian in college that was muse-worthy but never accepted the role. but when she does participate in quiz bees and debates, she'd pull an audience eli was never embarassed to be part of.
eli yoon on the otherhand was, as cliché as it sounds, the athlete the girls in school watch out for during intrams and plays. with the height and the undeniable skills he's got for sports, even cassidy's stare would linger for a few seconds.
surprise, surprise! the two never held a single conversation the entirety of their stay at uni. cassidy broke up with eunice a year after their college graduation. meanwhile eli and his ex girlfriend was over even before that.
eli was unemployed for a few years after that for some reasons (that cass finds lame and irresponsible tbh), while cass has started right after.
so maybe it's true that when you've tasted a relationship with a woman, one with a man could never compare. or maybe she's just being to picky. but can people really blame her????? it comes with being cassidy kim. and it's exhausting at a point.
the start of their talking stage was. something. the cassidy kim at the time was....colorblind. she only realized that later on, but at least she did!
eli was the typical type who's not a player but isn't particularly the dream guy as well. with his history and circle of friends, it was natural for him to attract. and with his looks, it was an easy decision for him to not settle down and just quote unquote, go with the flow. he was not looking for anything serious for the longest time. and when he first made a move on cass, he still had the same sentiments.
