Fragments of What Makes Us Whole

Summary:

Jealousy is common. There's always someone above you in certain aspects.

But what if that jealousy was rooted not in yourself? But from the expectations of society that regard one as a genius?

Expectations are high enough that one would shatter underneath it all.

Sometimes, you just need to leave.

Notes:

Ok, I legit got lazy in the summary man-

(I changed it because it was cringe)

Chapter 1: Commision

Chapter Text

"Having friends must be nice... Hanging out together, being normal..."

The witch sighed, watching through the crystal ball which showed an ordinary girl, blissful and unaware as she hung out with her friends, playing tag as they ran in the open fields on the outskirts of a kingdom. The girl's smile bright and cheerful as she tagged another girl in a floral dress, they giggled as they began to chase the other girl while their parents were nowhere to be seen. The witch glares in envy and loneliness. Before abruptly standing up and looking away, the magic on the crystal dimmed, and then it went completely blank as the witch stormed into one of the shelves in her quaint cabin.

The shelf was filled with herbs, animal parts, and unknown substances considered poisonous. The witch quietly took out a sheet of parchment as she read the note.

'20 bottles of Healing Potions, 10 bottles of Mana Recovery...'

The witch groans as she puts the note aside and starts gathering ingredients to make the potions. The client was an adventurer, and the witch had to listen to their incessant, irritating, arrogant rambling about how they were the best, despite the latter looking like they got severely wounded. From a low-ranked monster no less. Best to say that this client will die soon. She starts putting the ingredients into the cauldron. The wood pile underneath the cauldron lit up instantly with a flick of a finger from the witch.

"One... Two... Four hipokute herbs..."

The witch murmurs as she counts the herbs and other ingredients before dumping them in. Grabbing a ladle with her other hand, she stirs the cauldron. Blankly staring into the glowing substance, she slowly adds her mana to the pot.

"Just another dull day..."
