Work Text:
Kronii took her shower second. Borrowing Kaela's shampoo, she squeezed some of the viscous soap into her palm and lathered it thoroughly, before massaging the foam into her scalp. A mild scent wafted as she worked her fingers though soaked midnight locks.
Before entering the bathroom, she had purposely left a new hairbrush on the table. Knowing Kaela, however, it was likely that any attention it received was limited to a cursory glance.
Sure enough, when Kronii stepped out of the bathroom, the hairbrush was exactly where she had left it. Well, at least as busy as Kaela was, absorbed in the work she had brought along for their vacation, she did bother to blow-dry her hair.
Between Kronii's fingers, Kaela's blonde tresses radiated the warmth of the sun. It was like sinking her hand into the tummy of a majestic kitty cat.
Kaela shifted slightly; and so did her focus.
Of course, much like a cat that would strike back at the intrusive hand, Kaela might not particularly appreciate hearing such a comparison being made. Some things are better left unsaid.
Gently, lest she tugs on a stray knot, Kronii dragged her fingers free.
Zero knots.
Touché.
This girl should still comb her hair though.
Returning her hand to the lovely warmth, Kronii called out to her.
"Yeah?" She whose name is "Kaela" turned to face Kronii directly, already with a grin on her face.
"Did you notice the hairbrush I left for you there?" A moot question to kick things off.
Kaela replied with an affirmation. It was punctuated with a short, airy chuckle.
"Kaela..." Spoken in a tone you could hear.
"I used my fingers! It's good enough," Kaela insisted. To emphasise her next point, she rested her head on Kronii's palm. "I mean, you still keep touching my hair. It's not that bad, right?"
The time warden inhaled as she pondered, balancing the scales between Kaela's stance and hers.
A mild, relaxing and distracting shampoo scent.
"Well... It is really fluffy," Kronii eventually admitted. Kaela could feel a second set of fingers dipping into her hair, then tickling along her scalp and making her itch. Albeit not in a bad way.
"That's", some chuckles leaked, "That's good, right?" Kaela didn't particularly mind it; Kronii always had consent and had touched her hair more than enough times. The issue was that those fingertips of hers felt too soothing on her scalp, dragging and lightly scratching and playing with her hair like that. They were making her instincts jump and crackle.
And to Kaela's dismay, rather than letting go, Kronii doubled down and fluffed her hair with even more vigor.
It was unfortunate (or fortunate, in the grand scheme of things) but there really were no knots at all.
"Lah!" was all Kaela exclaimed. Any and all further protests were lost between bouts of mirthful yelps and faint giggles.
So c█te. So, so, c█te.
Would Kronii say that out loud though? Nah. She was quite content to keep running her fingers through Kaela's hair.
"Yeah, this is dangerous. You're gonna give me withdrawal symptoms. I'll have you take responsibility for that." Kronii complained even though her voice sounded more relaxed than normal. "So I'm gonna keep going, okay." It was a statement rather than a question. "It's your fault your hair is so messed up like this."
Kaela felt like she was about to lose her mind. Like Kronii was going to pluck it out of her head there and then. She could almost hear the smile on Kronii's face.
"If you k-keep going, I'll... Become bald...!" It took more effort but Kaela finally composed herself enough to grumble. However, it wasn't really convincing. Not when she had seemingly melted like putty into those troubling hands.
"Comb your hair then!" Kronii quipped, then hummed in satisfaction. And gave a few more head pats as a treat.
Maybe she will get her point across this time, she thought.
"Dahlah..." It sounded just like a purr.
