Percy keeled over. Luke had gotten away, and Percy could feel the life draining out of him.
He felt a gentle touch on the hand where he had just been stung by the pit scorpion. Looking up, he saw a bright blue butterfly. Percy could barely think, but when it flew away, he had to follow it.
Stumbling over his feet, Percy stood and let the butterfly guide him. It felt like forever and no time at all before the butterfly landed on the other side of a stream. Percy fell into the cool water and relief washed over him.
