Work Text:
Trainer, oh Trainer, where have you gone?
Was I not your loyal and kind Pokemon?
Was I not there for you when you sniffled and wept?
On cold nights, did you not cuddle me when you slept?
Sure I was weak, and could barely attack
But when times were rough, I always had your back
Nincada aren’t cute, they’re dirty and rough
But you still loved me; made me think I’m enough
Our battles were scary, and despite all our losses
We always stood tall, like a mighty colossus
But Trainer, oh Trainer, was it all just a lie?
Why would you leave me in this forest to die?
Ah, I remember as my thoughts still feel muddled
I see my reflection, as I stare in a puddle
No longer have eyes, mouth, or a soul
My emotions run dry as I sit in the cold
The rain and the cold, I can’t feel on my skin
Inside myself, there’s nothing within
Shedinja’s my name, a hollow shell that’s been born
How can an empty husk feel forlorn
You promised to love me, and ease all my fears
Despite being empty, why do I have tears?
When I was Nincada, I was weak and frail
I’d wake up at night with a sob and a wail
My Trainer would hold me, in the cold and the rain
I should be empty inside, so why am I in pain?
A soulless husk, in pure resignation
The pouring rain adding to true devastation
As it turns to a storm, I sit there and wonder
Why would my Trainer leave me? What was my blunder?
Did I not perform well enough? Was that worth my rejection?
But no. The puddle shows me my reflection
I’m ugly, repulsive, and creepy to boot
I can’t eat, or talk. I’m stuck being mute
No gentle trilling, or quiet growls
Despite my forced silence, my soul wants to howl
That’s right. No soul. I shouldn’t have emotions
But why do I feel betrayed? Despite my endless devotion?
Is this just my fate? This lifeless design?
To not love, cry, or smile? Am I just… resigned?
I tumble to one side, and can’t close my eyes
The rain does well, with disguising my cries
How am I crying? How can I weep?
I hope that this sadness can lull me to sleep
How does one rest though? With a body like this?
Please Trainer, come back. Grant me some bliss
I miss seeing your face, and your gentle embrace.
Was I just a bad Pokemon? A total disgrace?
I can’t stand it, my Trainer. The pain hurts too deep
I hope that I never awaken from sleep
It storms ever harder, and the wind is so cold
I’m surrounded by rot, and ever-decaying mold
I just want to be loved.
I just want to be loved.
I just want to be loved.
What does love even feel like? Has it all been for naught?
Do I regret what I’ve felt? Do I hate being caught?
Yes. I despise my new self. I hate everyone
I hate that my life has now been undone
If I was just someone else, then love I could feel
I wouldn’t be stuck in this hellish ordeal
But right now? That just doesn’t matter
The sun will soon rise, and my life will stay shattered
But despite all my hatred, why do I feel pain?
Why do I not want to stay in the rain?
Why do I want to hear their voice yet again?
Their gentle boots stomping, alongside their friend?
Wait, do you hear that? Running through the trees?
It must be my Trainer, and their Butterfree!
Oh, it was all a mistake! A ruse, a lie!
My kind Trainer would never leave me to die!
I lift myself up, and follow the sound
Oh how joyous, to finally be found!
I got closer and closer, and what do I see?
Not a Trainer in sight… just a swarm of Combee
It wasn’t a dream. My Trainer left me alone
I don’t like it. Someone, please, take me home
The Combee don’t like me, they chase me away
I want someone to love me. To tell me to stay
But that just won’t happen, not for Pokemon like me
A Shedinja is a ‘Mon, no one wishes to be.
