Bardagi Medal Gud- War Amongs the Gods

Summary:

A spin-off story of Through Valhalla and Tartarus- Made by my colleague HuntresOfWisdom, starring Odin, Poseidon and Zeus in their youth. It is set in around 3000 BC.

Notes:

I am aware that a spin off often only comes after the original media is done, however for multiple reasons this is being done differently. It is a stand alone story, you don't have to read the original to understand, and same vice versa, but I recommend if you like this check out Valhalla and Tartarus because its just more of this basically. Title translates to War Amongst the Gods

Chapter 1: Log 679

Chapter Text

Greetings. This is Odin Cronuson. If you are reading this, I have died, if not, I will find you and kill anyone you tell this information to, including you.

Today was another normal day at Ginnungagap. Scorching on one side, freezing on the other. Those damn mortys got it easy. . “Oh look I’m a human and I have grass”. So insufferable, I hate them. No one understands me, it’s insanity. Zeus is not only happy with the bastards, he sleeps with them. Mixing godly blood with mortal scum. Mother tells me to have compassion on them. She has quite the big heart. It’s a wonder she married such scum like my father.

“Hey brother” Zeus hollered like a barbaric goblin. That voice he puts on when he wants to be humorous.

“Greetings, brother. I can only imagine what you were up to last night” I said, glancing at the lipstick mark on his neck.

“Oh come off it, brother. It beats this dump you call a home. Why won’t you try it?” He exclaimed, aggressively placing his hand on my shoulder. I hate to admit when he’s slightly right. Luckily, it’s a rare occasion, and he will never be fully right.

“You know why,” I replied. “One of these days one of your dirty mortal kids will cause you trouble, and I will not clean it up for you.”

To my surprise and delight, Poseidon approached us. Unlike Zeus, Poseidon is a well educated young god. He learns from the best. Certainly not from Kronos, that’s for sure.

“Greetings, brother. And you, Zeus” he exclaimed with a smirk drawn wide on his face. I will never stop admiring his optimism through every and all situations.

“Greetings, dear brother. Me and this barbarian we call a brother were discussing the mess we live in.” I replied, trying not to show my relief at his sight. If I show emotions, he will show emotions even more. I cannot let him fall into a habit of weaklings. Difficult with someone so bright and full of energy.

“It’s a shitshow, ain’t it.” Blurted out Zeus, trying to cover his neck.

“ZEUS!” I exclaimed with a burning outrage. “Do not copy his language, my dear brother. However, I do agree with him on this matter. It is impossible to continue my studies on this stump. Even if I did go to Mortal-Land, magic doesn't exist there, so my studies would be off worse.”

“Does Chaos still refuse your proposal?” Inquired Poseidon.

“As always: ‘You ungrateful wretch should be glad you are allowed to live here. You are utterly useless and a strain on my resources. Don’t make me regret allowing you to live.’” I mimicked, mockfully recreating her hand motions. “It’s always the same with her.”

“She made Midgard from Grandpa's eyebrows didn’t she? Why’s the bitch so stubborn about it? It clearly ain’t a big struggle for her.” loudly exclaimed Zeus, whom I now realized had eye bags and stunk of mead. No wonder he was blurting such things about Chaos so loudly. He literally isn’t in his right mind.

“Keep quiet!” I whispered with a harsh voice. “We don’t want her to hear us. And for your question, because she loves our suffering I suppose.”

“If only there was a Midgard 2,” said Poseidon, with an air of innocence in his voice. “If that happens I want it to have oceans like Midgard. They’re cool”

“Ehem” I said, glancing at Poseidon.

“I - Im sorry.” He softly whispered. As bad as it made me feel, he mustn't show such weakness. “I - I don’t care about oceans. Yeah.”

“Much better. Now if you will excuse me, I will continue my research, however I can. Farewell my dear brother, and you Zeus.”

“Boringggg. Bye, brothers. I'm hitting the streets.” said Zeus, tumbling his way to who knows where.

“I - Okay. Yeah. Research. Can - can I help?” Timidly asked Poseidon.

“Ugh fine. I won’t catch you up so just read through it. If it’s too complicated, that’s your problem.” I declared proudly.

“Yes, brother.” He said, looking at the floor.

A Midgard 2. That’s all I’ve asked for. But of course, she can’t just give me something to bring me any joy. If eyebrows made midgard, imagine what a finger would do. Or even an arm. Imagine what could be done in such a vast land. Gosh. Just thinking about the possibilities makes my spine shudder. All the experiments that could be done in such a land . So many possibilities in Ymir’s body…
