Together

Summary:

A few years have passed since the battle against Noxus. The smoke has long since cleared, but the scars still remain. Some wounds may never fully heal. Still, through everything, they have each other.

In the quiet that followed the war, life did not simply return to what it was. It reshaped itself. Caitlyn and Vi had to learn how to exist in the peace after surviving the chaos. They built something steady from the ruins. They found their own rhythm, their own path.

And now, that path had led them somewhere neither ever predicted.

They are expecting.

It was a new kind of adventure for the both of them. No battle plans. No enemies to fight. Just the two of them bringing a baby into the world.

Join Caitlyn and Vi as they step into this next chapter of their lives, learning what it means to raise a child in a world they fought to protect. It will be hard. It will feel overwhelming at times. But for the first time in a long while, the future does not feel like something they have to survive alone. Because at the end of every day, they are doing it together.

Chapter 1: Finding out

Chapter Text

Taking a deep breath Vi clenched her hands. She dodged the first hit from the gloved fists being sent her way before she threw out a few jabs, sweat glistening on her brow. Bringing one arm up she took another hit sending a few stinging sensations through her body, but she ignored it. Her drab green tank top clung to her back, damp with perspiration from the grueling workout.

She didn’t even hear the door to the room opening behind her as the thrum of her heart pounding in her ears drowned out almost every other sound. She ducked another swing from the bag, her muscles screaming at the relentless exertion, begging to stop.

Violet.”

“Huh?” She turned just as a punch came out smacking the back of her head and she stumbled forward, her taped fists clenching hard. Sharp pain exploded behind her eyes as she squinted to see who had entered the room.

Caitlyn sucked in a breath crossing the distance between them, her hands going up to Vi’s head. “I’m sorry, I called your name a few times, you were in your own world.”

Vi shook her head, trying to shake off the throbbing ache. "S' fine," she grumbled, giving the woman a smile. “I’ve been hit by worse anyway cupcake. What’s up?” She leaned back rubbing her hands over the shaved parts on her head looking at the woman fully now.

She could see that the woman was slightly nervous which for Caitlyn was unusual. The normally composed, confident woman was shifting her weight from one foot to the other.

“Caitlyn?” Vi moved forward resting her hands on the woman’s hips tilting her head to the side.

She could see the woman taking a deep breath before she cleared her throat pulling out something from her pocket. Caitlyn held it up for Vi to take and she found herself staring at a small plastic white thing that looked like a pen.

“What’s this?” Vi whispered, taking it from the woman’s hand one hand still on Caitlyn’s hip as she looked at what she assumed was the front, there was a small square that caught her eyes, digital text that said pregnant. Blinking a few times her eyes went up to Caitlyn who looked back at her with a mix of fear and anticipation.

"Pregnant?" Vi echoed faintly, alarm and surprise coating her voice. The plastic test seemed to grow heavier, though that surely was impossible. "You mean... We're going to..."

Caitlyn nodded, giving the woman a smile. “It worked, surprise.”

For a moment they both stood there in silence, staring at each other as the realization set in. The punching bag now swung gently back and forth, creaking behind them. "I… I mean hell, we planned this, I know, but..." Vi stuttered, trying to wrap her head around the news. It felt... sudden.

Caitlyn nodded, her eyes softening as she looked into Vi's.

Vi could feel the world spin around her; the rough texture of the floor beneath them faded out of focus and all she could see was Caitlyn’s anxious smile begging for reassurance. “We’re going… We’re going to be parents.” She whispered again, her tone blanketed in a surreal fog of quiet elation and raw fear. She felt a warm, foreign sensation swimming up her chest and lodging in her throat. A soft chuckle bubbled out, laced with disbelief and she clapped a hand over her mouth in stunned surprise. "We're going to be parents."

The next thing Caitlyn found herself being spun around in Vi's arms, her feet barely brushing the ground. A shout of pure joy filled the air, erasing all evidence of the silent shock that had soiled the moment only seconds ago. Caitlyn clung to Vi, her hands clutching the worn fabric of her tank top as her whole vision was filled by a wide grin.

Vi's laughter echoed around their small gym and punched right through Caitlyn’s stunned silence, replacing it with giddy positivity. She was laughing too, now, the sound bouncing off the walls and filling the air with happiness.

Vi halted abruptly, setting Caitlyn back onto her feet before pulling her into a quick, passionate kiss. “Oh my god, parents! I can’t believe that it worked after only two tries.”

Caitlyn chuckled, her fingers lightly ghosting over Vi's cheek. "Me neither," she admitted, her own excitement making her voice quiver slightly. "I was prepared for months of trying, maybe even years."

A radiant grin spread across Vi's face as a rush of adrenaline surged through her veins. She ran her thumb over Caitlyn’s cheek before it went up brushing over the woman’s scar over her eye, staring into both the blue and milky white eyes with newfound joy. "Well, I guess we're just that good," Vi winked, her tone playful despite the tender moment.

Caitlyn rolled her eyes nudging the woman’s shoulders slightly before wrapping her arms around them. She buried her face in the crook of her neck, the familiar scent washing over her. "Yes, we are good," she muttered into her skin. “Are you going to be able to handle my mood swings and weird cravings?”

Vi laughed, wrapping her arms tighter around Caitlyn, a fresh wave of affection washing over her for the woman in her arms. "I'm strong enough to handle anything you can throw at me, cupcake." She grinned, her cheeks hurting with how much she was smiling. "Besides, I think I can manage a few weird cravings."

“Record that for me somehow and send it to me later,” Caitlyn mused, her voice filled with laughter as she pulled back, her hands resting on Vi’s neck, her fingers brushing the shaved underside. "You're going to eat those words when I wake you up at three in the morning for cravings.”

“Bring it on cupcake, I’m game.” Vi replied, an unstoppable grin etched onto her face.
