Chapter 1: Prologue:

Chapter Text

"This is all that I need." Beca husked as she nuzzled into the blonde's neck. "Just being in your arms."

Aubrey gently squeezed the younger girl's shoulders. "I'm sorry that the others ruined our hug when you first got here."

"I don't want to talk about that. Or to think about it. Not now. Now when I'm finally in your arms again." Beca whimpered as she nipped at Aubrey's skin.

Aubrey understood what Beca needed. She ducked her head so she could finally meet those questing lips with her own. She sighed into the kiss.

Beca's eyes closed the moment she felt Aubrey's lips meet hers. Her arms tightened around the older blonde as she pressed even closer into her girlfriend. As soon as the need for oxygen overcame her she pulled back a few inches, resting her head against the blonde's shoulder.

Aubrey's hand reached out to gently stroke through the brunette's hair. "I'm sorry that I can't be with you at the camp site." She frowned as she berated herself for drawing up the plan for the Bella's to spend the night in a single tent in the middle of the woods; as a "team bonding" plan. What was she thinking. She fully knew how stressed out Beca has been all year long. For two years even. Why did she think that when Chloe called to book this trip that the Bella needed to bond stronger as a team. Why didn't she truly listen when Chloe told her that Beca didn't even know about this trip. She frowned as she yet again thought of how hard their relationship was because they never told anyone besides Beca's mother, and Aubrey's mother that they were dating.

"You are thinking too loudly." Beca sighed as she pulled away from her girlfriend. Her arms wrapped across her shoulders as she felt her body tighten even more.

Aubrey reached out but then dropped her hand as she saw that Beca didn't want her touch in that moment. "I'm sorry Beca." She frowned at how stressed Beca looked.

"We need to tell Chloe about us." Beca sighed. "She won't stop hitting on me, Aubs." Shaking her head. "I love Chloe to death and I don't want to hurt her. But I can't allow her to think that she may have a chance with me." She looked imploring into the green eyes of her soulmate. "I'm going to hurt her no matter what I do. I'm going to hurt her deeply by how long I kept this from her. How many years that I have kept this from her."

"That we kept this from her." Aubrey sighed as she thought about her best friend, who was like her sister. "It's going to be hard. But Chloe will come to understand our reasoning. She'll come back to us." She stepped a little closer to Beca not wanting to be completely apart from her soulmate.

"I don't want to sleep out in the woods in a tent." Beca frowned. "Not without you." She looked imploring into Aubrey's green eyes. "Can't you ..."

Aubrey shook her head. "I'm sorry Beca, but I can't. I'm not a current member of the Bella's." She sighed.

"But you are our former captain!" Beca shouted. "That has to count for something for crying out loud!"

Aubrey's eyes widen at the sheer misery in Beca's voice.

"I do not camp Aubrey Posen!" Beca sneered. "I hate it with a passion. The only way that I would ever dream of camping is with you. Only with you!" Tears fell down Beca's cheeks. She held up a hand as Aubrey opened her mouth to speak. "Look, I know that you can't do anything about this situation that we are in right now. I know that the Bella's do need to "team bond" right now because we are so stressed out over the competition, that we aren't listening to one another right now. I know that Chloe did the only thing she could think of doing by calling you to book the Lodge. I just wish she told me of the plan; then I could have planned it out with you." She wanted to scream in frustration but she knew that people would come running if she rose her voice higher than it currently was.

"I should have just booked you in a large cabin. I'm sorry Beca I never knew that you hated camping." Aubrey frowned as her arms rested against her waist.

"I wouldn't have wanted to stay in the cabin with the girls at the Lodge. I just need to stay with you. I just need you by my side Aubrey." Beca whispered. "This is so fucked up. Why did Chloe keep that that she booked the Lodge from me?" She frowned. "Does she know about us? Is this her way of getting revenge." Her stomach tightened up at the thought.

"Chloe was just doing what she thought was best for the Bellas. For you. She was trying to take some stress off of you by planning this on her own." Aubrey spoke with sureness in her voice. She knew Chloe. She knew that Chloe wouldn't play games with Beca, not with Aubrey.

Anger ran through Beca's body. "I'm the captain of Bellas. Not Chloe Beale. She had no call to do this behind my back!" Her right hand rose to run roughly through her hair. "She should have graduated all ready! She's only taking one fucking class ... the same fucking class that she has "repeated" for two fucking years! The only reason why she's still at Barden is because she wants to fuck me." Tightly shaking her head. "I don't want Chloe Beale in that way in my life. Why can't she just accept that all ready!" Tears rolled down her cheeks.

Aubrey wrapped her arms around Beca. She couldn't bare to be apart from her soulmate any longer. "It's going to be all right Beca." She kissed the side of Beca's left eye. "I promise. It will be all right." She was bound and determined to make it all right. If Chloe truly couldn't handle the fact that Aubrey and Beca were together, then ... well she would cross that bridge if that bridge needed to be crossed. But, Aubrey knew Chloe very well. Aubrey knew that Chloe would be disappointed that she couldn't have Beca romantically but she wouldn't want to lose Beca from her life.

"This just sucks big time is all Aubrey." Beca whimpered in Aubrey's neck.
