Life After Lock-Up (Sociopath Edition)

Summary:

“Why the fuck did we even agree to be on this show?” Jecka huffed as she turned to look at Nicole. The other girl shrugged with a bored expression on her face.

“Because they pay us to talk about how prison changes you and shit.”

Or: Jecka and Nicole get sent to prison after they’re caught laundering money at Popeyes. After a boring 18 months in prison, they’re recruited by a TV executive looking to make a reality show based off ex-inmates. What could go wrong?

Chapter Text

“Are we rolling yet?” Jecka asks as she reapplies her lip gloss. She puckers her lips once more, and now her makeup is to satisfaction.

“In 3…2…1…” The cameraman counts off before the red light on the camera begins to blink slowly. At his cue, a man old enough to be Jecka’s grandfather walks into frame and sits opposite her. He clears his throat once, and looks at Jecka.

“Jessica-“

”It’s Jecka.” She says.

”…Jecka. Before we start, I want to ask - do you regret it? Following Nicole Rodriguez’s plan?” The man looks at Jecka, awaiting an answer. No one can see, but Jecka bites the inside of her lip. After a moment of contemplation, she manages to speak.

”…not really. I mean, I guess I miss being able to get drunk without my fucking parole officer getting on my ass…but, like, I didn’t wanna do anything else,” she scoffs. “I wasn’t gonna go to some expensive college where I’d get gang raped by a fraternity.” The man sits in silence at her response.

He turns to look at the camera dramatically. “This is Jessica Thompson. At only nineteen years old, she stole over twenty thousand dollars from her former place of employment. She was sentenced to two years and was released after serving eighteen months.”

“I’m Maury Povich, and today I’ll tell you the story of how Jessica and her best friend almost got away with their crimes. This is…Life After Lock-Up.”
