Headed your way

Summary:

There's a mole in Tony's operation and he just can't figure out who it is. Luckily his sweet little pup Peter is so frustrated by being left alone that he takes matters into his own hands.

based on my prompt posted to tumblr (https://www.tumblr.com/awesomestarker/678815628114657280/tony-as-mob-boss-except-he-doesnt-have-time-for?source=share)

Notes:

This was originally supposed to be a little thank you fic for 500 followers on tumblr.
This was my most popular prompt when I started writing it, but then it was on hold for like two years and now I'm at over 1,000 followers (absolutely unbelievable?).
But in any case, I still wanna thank all of you amazing starkers for always coming to my blog and enjoying the silly little prompts I post! I really hope you enjoy this too!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

It’s been more than a month.

Tony had promised him he would find and exterminate the mole within a few days and now it has been more than a month.

Of course Peter knows that Tony is only careful because he cares about Peter and doesn’t want to loose him, but that doesn’t change the fact that Peter would like to spend at least one evening in Tony’s company again.

He would very much like to have Tony’s undivided attention but instead Tony keeps fobbing him off until this whole situation is dealt with.

And Peter is getting really frustrated and pent up.

The mole can’t possibly be so good that Tony fucking Stark can’t find him. Tony’s a genius with an almost godlike AI at his every wish. An AI he made and fully controls. He has at least fifty of the best assassins working for him. And even some of the ones not working for Tony have a silent understanding with him about not getting in each others way.

Sure. As New York’s leader in everything illegal (and honestly also a lot of the legal things) Tony has a lot of enemies. And some of these enemies are also powerful people. But Tony had never made such a fuss about a few of his plans leaking through to different sources before.

It’s annoying Peter, who had hoped to finally spend an evening with Tony again. Instead Tony is spending the night in his office again and Peter is forced to stay in their penthouse like a dog being left home by their owner.

Well. He’s not going to wait here any longer. If Tony won’t come to Peter, Peter will just have to go to Tony.

His plans are halted as soon as the elevator doors open to reveal Happy Hogan, one of Tony’s most trusted men and also the man Tony usually places somewhere to watch and protect Peter’s every move.

“No can do kiddo. I don’t know where you’re planning on going, but it’s not happening.”

Luckily Peter is prepared for this. He’d be stupid if he wasn’t. Happy is sure to always pop up somewhere whenever Peter plans to do something ‘dangerous’. And according to Tony dangerous things Peter could do start with leaving the penthouse.

Since he expected this would happen Peter smiles promising and holds up the little package with food he prepared.

“I just wanted to bring Tony something to eat! FRIDAY said he hasn’t eaten yet.”

When Happy still looks unconvinced he quickly adds “I made it myself.”, with a sweet little smile on his lips.

Happy just keeps watching him. Peter can see that he still isn’t entirely convinced but Peter can see the doubt on his face.

“You can stay with me the entire time!” When that still doesn’t seem to do the trick he quickly adds “and I’ll make you a sandwich too!”

He’s not sure what exactly did it but Happy’s shoulders finally drop and he steps back to let Peter enter the elevator.

They’re silent on their way to Tony’s office and the first thing either of them speaks is when Happy stops in front of the door to a conference room and looks at Peter with a searching look.

“He’s not going to come up with you. You know that, right?”

Instead of answering Peter just shrugs his shoulders and steps around Happy to rip open the door without knocking. Something only Peter ever dared to to.

Instantly there are more than 20 weapons trained in him, but Peter ignores everyone looking at him like he’s a threat the same way he ignores Happy’s exasperated “Kid!”.

He just strolls into the room, making sure Tony can see the way his hips are swinging back and forth, making a beeline to where Tony sits at the head of a long table. He knows no one will hurt him. These are Tony’s people and they know not to hurt Peter

The closer Peter gets to Tony the better he can see Tony throwing an accusing look towards Happy that promises consequences while simultaneously putting his shiny gun back in its hiding place.

Tony finally looks at Peter when he sets down his little package with sandwiches and pushes Tony’s chair back a bit so he can sit down in Tony’s lap.

He makes sure to position himself so his ass is right on Tony’s cock before he leans forward to press an open-mouthed sloppy kiss to Tony’s lips.

Tony’s hands come up to hold Peter’s back almost reflexively and Peter makes sure to scoot forward a bit.

Mainly so Tony’s hand will fall down to Peter’s ass, making sure Tony can feel the lacy thong Peter put on for this occasion. A nice side effect however is the way Peter rubs his ass over Tony’s dick again, this time letting him feel his he base of the plug Peter is hiding under his clothes.

Tony hardly reacts to his kiss so Peter scoots back a bit, making sure to rub over Tony’s dick again, and leans his head against Tony’s chest, looking up at him with big eyes and an adorable pout on his spit-slick and red-bitten lips.

Even though Peter can feel Tony harden in his pants just the tiniest but, he can read in Tony’s face that this is already a lost fight before it really started. Tony won’t give in.

Peter still tries. Widening his eyes a bit more and using one hand to play with the buttons on Tony’s shirt.

“I made you something to eat. Because you didn’t come up to me in the last three days and I’m worried.”

He can read Tony’s displeasure clearly in his face and quickly leans his head forwards, making sure to add a slight wobble to his voice when he adds: “I don’t even know if you slept.”

He can feel Tony’s shoulders tensing a bit while Tony’s hands on his hips drag him closer.

“You know you’re not supposed to storm in here like that pup.” He raises his voice with the next sentence, making sure the rest of the room can hear them too. “And I’m sure Happy knows not to let you out of the penthouse at the moment.”

Peter can see Happy shrink a bit out of the corner of his eye, but he starts talking before Happy can start making any excuses.

“But I was so worried daddy. You didn’t come up to see me even once and I was all alone without you.”

Even though Tony’s hands are still on his hips he can already feel his inevitable loss. It’s all in the way Tony’s hands tighten the grip, how his jawline grows harder and he doesn’t look at Peter anymore.

He knows what Tony is going to say even before he says it. It doesn’t make the knowledge any easier. That he’ll have to go back to the penthouse alone and stay there alone however long it takes for Tony to sort this mess out.

This was his last resort. Not even offering his help had managed to sway Tony’s decision on locking him away to keep him safe. No attempt to seduce Tony into going up with him worked. And now Tony even rejected the threat of Peter crying all alone without him.

Peter knows it’s hard for Tony. Can see it by the way Tony has to silently brace himself to reject Peter. He knows Tony’s only doing it because he thinks it’s the only way to protect him. But that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t sting.

“This is important pup. I’ll come up as soon as this situation is dealt with. I promise. Can you be good for a while longer?”

Peter tries standing up, his annoyance visible all over his body, but Tony keeps his hands on Peter’s hips, holding him in place like that.

Peter is once again brushing his ass over Tony’s cock, this time truly an accident, when Tony tries dragging him closer. Probably to give him a kiss in apology before sending him back up. But Peter pushes against Tony’s chest to keep some distance and wriggles against the hold Tony has on him.

Tony finally relents and lets Peter go while sighing deeply.

“Behave for Happy. Yes pup?”

Peter knows Tony wants an answer from him but he still tries if he can get away with a non-committed “hm”.

He wants to show Tony exactly how unhappy he is with his decisions.

He reaches for the food he brought. Only stopping in his movement when Tony grabs his wrist in one hand and his jaw in the other and tugs at both to make Peter look back at Tony.

“I mean it Peter. Behave like a good boy for once. Am I making myself clear?”

Peter huffs an annoyed breath and reaches for the food with his unoccupied hand.

“You’re not eating it anyway and I promised Happy a sandwich.”

He knows Tony hoped for an actual answer but he also knows that Tony is aware that this is all he’s going to get.

And he really hopes Tony will let it go.

There’s a tense silence with Peter holding the food in one hand, his other hand still in Tony’s tight grip. Peter is trying not to look at Tony to show him that he’s still very unhappy with this arrangement. Still, his eyes fly up to Tony’s face when Tony tugs him a bit closer by his hand again before moving their joined hands upwards and pressing a kiss to Peter’s pulse point.

Tony finally lets go when they break their eye contact. Peter immediately steps back towards Happy standing in the still open door. He doesn’t spare anyone else in the room another glance but before he closes the door behind himself he throws a provocative “be sure to come up soon” back over his shoulder, taking care to make it sound like the threat it is.

Happy opens his mouth as if he’s about to say something but Peter just throws him an angry look and rushes past him towards the elevator.

He’s tempted to quickly close the doors before Happy can join him but that would only mean Happy would be even more annoyed with him than he is so far. And that’s not something Peter needs right now.

So Peter takes a deep breath and waits for Happy to join him before he presses the button for the penthouse.

“You know he’s trying for you kid. He’s not doing this on purpose to annoy you.”

Peter does know. But that doesn’t make it okay.

“I handled it when Osborn sent people to kidnap me eight months ago. Didn’t I? I don’t understand why Tony is making such a fuss about some half-baked threats now.”

They step out of the elevator and into the penthouse, walking directly towards the couch Peter abandoned less than fifteen minutes ago to try and get Tony to come up.

“I barely saw him in the last two months! And if I do see him all I get are halfhearted kisses and an empty promise that this will all be done soon.”

Peter can feel the anger rising again and he almost drops his sandwich packet while ripping it open with too much force. When he finally has it open he pushes the sandwiches towards Happy. “You can eat them. They’re going to the trash otherwise.”

Happy looks at him for a long moment before settling in and grabbing for one of the sandwiches.

You’re kidding. Right?” He doesn’t wait for an answer. Taking a bite and immediately continues talking while chewing the sandwich like he didn’t have anything to eat yet. “When you say you ‘handled’ it when Osborn sent men to kidnap you, you can’t possibly mean the time a while ago where you got kidnapped when you were in one of Tony’s clubs and all you left behind was you’re phone and the tracker in your watch?” Happy looks at him with a raised eyebrow. “No. You can’t possibly meant that because I distinctly remember you being missing for more than 16 hours. If I remember correctly, and I do because my memory is fantastic, you were rescued in a very noisy and blood heavy mission that cost Osborn all his men and his life. But that can’t possibly be what you’re referring to.”

He finally takes a break from speaking. Looking at Peter as of now is the moment to tell him that ‘yes this is what he meant’ and ‘sorry for acting like it was no big deal’. But Peter just shrugs his shoulders and looks away like that is the exact opposite of what he wants to say.

Happy ignores his disinterest and continues. “Peter you have to take these threats serious. They’re in no way ‘half-baked’ as you say. These people know things they shouldn’t even have heard rumors of. And they made threats. Very specific threats against you personally. Do you know what that means? They have pictures of you no one should have been able to take and were very-“

Peter shoots upright abruptly, staring at Happy with big eyes. “What pictures? Tony never said anything about pictures!”

Happy looks uncomfortable all of a sudden. “Oh”, is all he says to that before taking another big bite and glancing around the room.

Peter can tell he’s looking for ways to escape the situation but he’s not going to let him. Not now, when he can finally get more information about this. Information he didn’t even know he was missing.

“Happy what pictures are you talking about? Why hasn’t Tony said anything?”

Happy continues eating as if he hadn’t said anything, probably hoping that Peter will give up easily.

He should know him well enough to know that’s not going to happen.

“If you don’t tell me I’m going back down to Tony and I’m going to make a huge scene.” Peter isn’t even kidding. He will go down and make a scene if he doesn’t get and answer soon.

Apparently Happy comes to the same conclusion because he drops his sandwich, rubs his face and grumbles something that Peter doesn’t quite catch. Before he can ask about it, Happy straightens back up and looks at him with disapproval all over his face.

“You’re killing me kid. You know that?” Peter just shrugs his shoulders and looks at him expectantly.

“About three months ago bodys started showing up. They were left were Tony was sure to hear about it and killed in ways that suggested someone knew exactly how we were handling certain problems and was now copying that way. At first we didn’t really think anything of it. People die all the time and Tony has made a lot of enemies over the years. About a month later missions started going wrong. Other people knew when and where we were gonna be. That’s when you first started hearing about problems I’m guessing. When Tony started concentrating more on the incident he also started getting messages. Pretty normal stuff at first. Threats about knowing what he does and about telling other people about it: rival organizations or the police. Sometimes there were references to things nobody should know about. People working for Tony or locations of safe houses. Stuff like that. And then the pictures came. Pictures of you. Out eating ice cream or going to classes. A few of you and Tony together, on a date, visiting the company branch in L.A.” he stops for a moment, glancing at Peter before adding “a few more private pictures… You riding Tony in his car or sucking him off in a dark corner at an event.” He gives Peter a reprimanding look. “Things pretty much every one of us had to watch you do at some point.”

Peter grins without shame and leans back. “I don’t get the fuss everyone could have taken these. None of that is really special.”

Happy nods in agreement and adds “That’s when a few other pictures came. Of you. Sleeping. In your bed at the penthouse. As you can imagine Tony absolutely lost it. He’s been trying to find who’s responsible but as you know he hasn’t been able to yet.”

Peter nods his head slowly. “I don’t understand why he hasn’t told me this.”

Happy lifts the sandwich again and takes another bite. “Because you were kidnapped and when Tony finally went to free you, you were bound to a chair in an ice cold room with a head wound that covered your entire face in blood. That wasn’t even a year ago, kid. I don’t think you really understand what Tony went through in those 16 hours you were missing. I don’t think you know how relieved everyone was when you were relatively unharmed because we don’t think anyone could stop Tony from doing something increasingly stupid and increasingly dangerous if something ever happens to you. I know he would never say it, but Tony is absolutely terrified of loosing you.”

Peter nods his head in agreement again but Happy can read in his eyes that he doesn‘t actually understand what Tony would resort to.

“I get that Happy, but I can really handle my own. Osborn surprised me because I trusted Harry but if I had had another hour I would have been out of there. With or without your assistance. And Tony should know that!”

Happy sighs sufferingly. “Peter please. Just hold your feet still a while longer and things will go back to normal. I know you want to help but the best help you can be for Tony is to stay back and keep safe. Okay?” He looks at Peter, clearly waiting for an answer.

“I want to see the pictures.”

Happy hides his face in his hands and groans. “Did you even listen to me?”

“I did. And I want to see the pictures. All of them.” He keeps his eyes on Happy and eventually adds “whatever you want to say: I don’t care. I will see these pictures. If Tony wants me to or not.”

He can see the moment Happy comes to the conclusion that if Happy doesn’t show these pictures Peter will simply make FRIDAY show them to him. It’s a very correct conclusion so all Peter has to do is wait or Happy will give in or just make FRIDAY show him when Happy leaves.

Happy slumps his shoulders while taking the last bite of his sandwich and standing up. “Well kid. This was nice and all but I won’t be the one showing these picture to you and I don’t want to be on the wrong side of Tony’s anger. So I’ll be making my exit and I don’t want anything to do with whatever you'll do to anger Tony next. Thanks for the sandwich though.”

He stands up and walks to the elevator. Peter knows that Happy will very much still be involved since he’s 100% certain that Tony assigned him and a few of his people to watch Peter 24/7. He also knows what that means: he’ll get Happy in trouble with what he’s planning. But this is important and Tony really likes Happy so Peter doubts that he’ll just shoot him.

It doesn’t change the tight little ball of anxiety forming in Peter’s gut. But he has to do this. He won’t stand another day without Tony. This has to end at some pint and if Tony isn’t the person to end it, Peter will be. And he’ll start by looking at these pictures no one wants him to see.

He never found it particularly hard to hack FRIDAY though a large part of that is that he’s technically hacking Tony rather than FRIDAY. Because whatever he wants FRIDAY to do, the first step is usually to follow Tony’s thoughts on how he would prevent anyone, specifically Peter from finding the information FRIDAY is supposed to hide.

Peter doesn’t think Tony has realized yet that he’s the weak link and the reason why Peter always manages to hack FRIDAY. But to be fair Peter knows that he’s exceptional at thinking like Tony. So it’s not like there’s a risk that other people might get these things as easily as Peter does.

It doesn’t even take him five minutes to get access to the pictures.

When he does he stares at them for a while. Happy was right. They get increasingly more creepy. The first few could have been taken by any random passerby but there are some that Happy hadn’t mentioned.

Peter in the penthouse kitchen cooking a meal only wearing an apron. He sees himself trying on some lingerie in a changing room. There’s a shot of Peter’s face covered in come...

He stops looking though the pictures abruptly. He knows this one. Tony took that picture after punishing Peter for being a brat. And then he made Peter set it as his phone wallpaper for a week. It’s more than a year old and definitely not the only one of its kind. But Peter is 100% certain it’s the one from these specific circumstances. He knows because he…

He shuffles back though the pictures, studies the backgrounds on all of them. Looks for people he was there with, seeing if he can remember when these could have been taken.

He stops at the sight of another picture. It shows him in the stall of a public bathroom. He’s naked except for a red pair of panties that’s pushed under the swell of his ass to allow a look at the golden plug nestled deep inside him.

Damnit. He knows this one too! Though it isn’t actually a picture but a screenshot from a video. A video Peter sent Tony in their first month of knowing each other. And he knows that because he’s the one who took the screenshot almost four months ago.

He silently curses Tony out and orders FRIDAY to close the pictures. If only Tony would have shown these to Peter immediately, Peter could have helped a lot. It wouldn’t even have taken an hour to find the mole.

Peter seethes silently. He knows this is partly his fault. He was the one who wanted to surprise Tony with a photo album of their time together. Their anniversary is in two weeks but Peter started looking for nice pictures almost a year ago. And a few weeks back he had brought them to a little shop to get them made into an album. And then he’d been too busy to go get it when it was done. And since Happy had already been assigned to protect him, he had send another one of Tony’s men. A man who probably was the mole everyone had been searching for.

Peter curses again. How was this his luck?

“FRI I need to talk to Tony. Now. And I also need the name of whoever was sent to get my present for Tony.”

It took a moment for FRIDAY to answer and when she did it was in an apologetic tone. “I’m sorry Master Parker but I have strict instructions to not let you interrupt again and to keep you from disturbing the meeting. I apologize for the inconvenience. I can however tell you that the man who picked up your present is called Quentin Beck.”

Peter thought he recognized the name. He’s met the man a few times and he’d always seemed pretty nice. But well. Seeming and being were two very different things.

“Is Happy still here?”

If Tony doesn’t want to let Peter through he could at least try informing Happy before overwriting FRIDAY’s code again.

“Mister Hogan has left his security post to join the meeting boss will be holding shortly. Would you like me to send one of your other security details? The ones currently working are Harley Keener, Nebula and Quentin Beck.”

And oh. That’s one hell of a coincidence isn’t it?

Peter’s thoughts start racing and making plans.

He might be able to work with that.
