No One Can Hate a Man More than Himself

Summary:

"Blitzø can handle this."

And Normally he could. Normally it would have been a regular beatdown he'd have bounced right back from. Right now though? Right now it was the worst possible thing to happen to him.

Please, please mind the tags.

Chapter Text

Blitzø shoveled another spoon into his mouth, staring at the television and hoping it might help him forget. Forget his feelings. Forget Stolas. Forget everything.

He closed his eyes and sighed, pressing a hand against the slightly rounded part of his stomach, pressing in against the hardness. He couldn’t hide this much longer. It was a miracle he wasn’t showing yet. Not past a small bump his shirts hid rather well. If anything it looked like he gained weight, which given how much he had been eating his feelings, wasn’t all that surprising.

Tears welled in his eyes. He never even got to tell the stupid bird. Would he have even cared?

Blitzø?” A knock sounded.

“Go away!” He shouted back. He didn’t want to see Millie. He didn’t want to see anyone.

“I’m comin’ in.” She said anyway.

“Read the chains!” Blitzø moved his hand quickly as the door burst open. He didn’t need this. Didn’t need anyone to know. Not until he couldn’t hide it anymore. Not when it was the last piece of that damn prince he had.

Millie opened the door, and Blitzø was only half conscious of the conversation they had, mind still half lost in his thoughts and focused on the tv.

Millie went to handle the client and Blitzø sighed, looking down at himself again, poking the protrusion. Stupid. Keeping this had been so stupid. Yet he wanted to.

When he heard the word ghost from the front, he saw an out from his thoughts. A way to distract himself, even if he knew it was crazy. Even if he was unintentionally pushing people further away.

It wasn’t like he wouldn’t eventually lose them all anyway.

***

His heart-to-heart with Millie had made him feel better. Feel like maybe there was one person he would never lose. If he was lucky.

“You should really lay off the snacks though, Blitzø. You’re putting on some weight.” Millie deadpanned.

He gave a nervous grin. “Y-yeah. You’re totally right.”

Millie gave an odd look but didn’t have time to dwell on his awkwardness. They had an Infester Demon to handle.

The fight was terrifying as Blitzø tried to avoid every blow aimed at him. Tried to keep his stomach safe. Tried to do anything he could. This mission wasn’t supposed to be like this. They weren’t supposed to be facing another demon.

Being chained in his mind was up there with the worst experiences of his life. Blitzø never minded being tied up, but never like this. He watched as the scenes flashed on the screen. Every moment that had stuck with him as a gut punch. As something he didn’t want to see.

It ended on his positive pregnancy test.

“Oh, now isn’t that interesting?” The demon hissed beside him.

“Fuck off!” Blitzø screamed, tears flowing freely. Millie’s face appeared on the screen, clearly trying to wake him.

“Oh, looks like someone’s trying to ruin our good time. That was a nice heart-to-heart you had earlier. Be a shame if you went and ruined it like you always do.”

Then he was gone, overtaking Blitzø’s body. “No, no, no!” The imp struggled, tried to break free.

It was hopeless.

“Stop!” He yelled, begged as his body fought Millie of its own accord. Of the demon’s accord.

“Your level of insecurity is intoxicating. I can’t wait to see how you taste once you drive away the one person who still puts up with your bullshit.”

Blitzø just shook his head. “Stop.”

Millie pinned him.

“One, your words don’t mean shit to me. Two, Blitzø can handle this, so buckle up, buttercup.”

Blitzø’s eyes widened.

Normally that would be true. Normally Mille could beat him into the ground and he’d get up grinning. Would be proud of her thought process. Right now, though? It was the worst possible thing he could hear.

“Millie! Millie, no! Millie, wait! Fuck!” He tried to break free again. To do anything, but it was useless.

There was no stopping this.

His tears flowed freely as the demon beside him laughed, clearly taking pleasure in what was happening despite the pain Millie provided. “This is almost as sweet.” He hissed.

Millie punched him hard in the stomach.

Blitzø wanted to vomit.

It felt like forever but was probably only a minute before the demon released him. Blitzø just laid there, dazed and disoriented. Pain radiated through him, both from her blows and something else. He tried not to think about it.

“Mills?”

She hit him again.

“Fuck, Mills, it’s me!” He was practically begging now.

“Oh, sorry.” She looked down at him, concern flooding her face. “Are you okay?”

Blitzø just whimpered, crawling away from the pool’s edge before forcing himself to stand. Warmth spread between his legs and he closed his eyes. He already knew, but fuck this demon. He was dying before this was done.

He kicked the demon back in the water, throwing the vacuum in after it. “Fuck you!” He screamed, tears flowing freely from his eyes.

Then he collapsed, pain radiating from his abdomen. He could feel the blood pooling from under his skirt.

“Blitzø?!” Millie knelt beside him. “Shit, shit, did I do this?”

“Mills, hospital.” Was all he could choke. She pulled out the crystal and took him straight there. They pulled him back as she watched helplessly.

He passed out soon after.

***

Millie paced the waiting room feeling worse by the minute. She didn’t think she had gone that hard on him. She thought he could take it. Was she more of a brute than she realized?

Soon she collapsed into a chair with her face in her hands.

“Mildred?” A nurse called.

Her head shot up and she hurried over. “Is he alright?”

“He will be.” She told her. “Mr. Buckzo signed a release for us to discuss his medical with you.”

“What happened?”

“We did all we could, but he lost the baby.”

Millie’s world froze. “He lost what?” She whispered.

The nurse seemed surprised, then sympathetic. “It seems he was about four months pregnant. You didn’t know?”

No. She hadn’t. He never told her. Millie didn’t know but she had... she’d...

Oh, Satan.

She felt her eyes well with tears. “Is he okay? About...” She couldn’t say it.

“We’re trying to convince him to speak with a councilor but he seems to be holding up. He can have visitors now, if you would like.”

“I... I need a minute.” Mille forced out.

“Of course. He’s in room 663.”

“Thank you.” She choked, then turned around and walked out the front door.

Millie sat on the hospital steps sobbing.

Pregnant. He was pregnant. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to know whose it was.

Blitzø was never going to forgive her for this. How could he? How could she ever face him again?

There was no way she could have know. He didn’t tell anyone, but still...

She could visit and try to talk, but why in Hell would he ever want to see her face again?

So, she sat there, looking at the street and wondering how to tell Moxxie she was leaving I.M.P.

If she even deserved her husband after this.

***

Blitzø sat in the hospital bed, staring out the window and waiting.

That was it then. He lost the last piece of Stolas he’d been clinging to. He felt numb, broken. If he had just said something...

If he had told everyone, maybe then he wouldn’t be here.

Hell, if he had just been stronger willed. Had fought the infester demon harder. Maybe... maybe he wouldn’t have...

Blitzø broke down sobbing. He wanted Millie. Wanted someone at his side. His nurse said she needed a minute so he waited.

And waited.

Until it became clear she wasn’t coming. He was alone.

All of that, all his suffering and loss, and he still managed to lose her too.

In the end, he would always lose the things he cared about.

He wished that demon had just killed him.

***

Outside, Millie was thinking the same exact thing.
