Work Text:
It was a peaceful night at 221b. They had just finished a case and finally had a chance to relax after a long week. They were all just sitting on the couch in comfortable silence. Mariana reading a book, John editing the podcast and Sherlock doing something on his phone. The quiet music from their radio was the only sound in the room.
Moments like these were nice. A break from the chaos.
John wishes it could be like this every day. Mariana always says times like this wouldn't be as nice if it was what happened every day. As usual, she was right.
He couldn't imagine a life without chaos. It was enjoyable at times.
Like a bustling mall on a nice summer day.
Or a loud concert in spring.
It was easy to forget how nice life is. John looked over at Sherlock and smiled.
Sherlock was the perfect mix of everything in life.
He was like a nice cold breeze in summer. He was a warm cup of tea in winter.
He was clean sheets after a nice warm shower. He was a smile on a sad day.
He was amazing.
Every single part of him.
His beautiful brown eyes that John could get lost in all day.
His sometimes blunt comments and observations.
He was like life.
Of course, they had their ups and downs.
But so has life. And that's okay.
John moved closer to Sherlock, taking in his warmth. Sherlock didn't even flinch at the sudden contact like he had when they first met.
He loved Sherlock with all of his being. John moved closer and placed a small kiss on Sherlock’s cheek, making him blush.
John leaned closer to Sherlock, closing his computer and putting it on the coffee table as he placed his head on Sherlock's shoulder.
He slowly drifted to sleep. Happy and warm as he dreamt of a beautiful waterfall.
