Chapter Text
Takao was excited to start his new life at Shuutoku High, and his first thought was to join the basketball team. The raven haired man walked down the long corridors, amazed by the tall framed windows and the high ceilings, and at that moment he decided to go out into the courtyard. Takao made his way to the end of the corridor passing a few classrooms and students on the way, it surprised him how confident he was feeling, but he knew that this wouldn't last long. He finally got to the end of the hallway and stepped out into the open yard. The yard was filled with bustling people, walking everywhere, talking, shouting, even arguing; this was going to be a long day wasn't it? Fixing up his tie and straightening out his collar, he told himself: Time to make some new friends! Putting on a forced smile and a way-too-positive-to-be-real attitude, to control the enormous sense of unease in his gut. Takao walked off, slowly into the crowd of people.
---
Takao had been searching for 15 minutes, 15 WHOLE MINUTES, just to find the sign up for the basketball club or team (He didn't care). Then the slightly frightening, *Cough* Not at all frightening sound of the morning bell struck across the whole school, it was time for morning assembly. He followed the wave of students as they made their way to the assembly area, also known as, The one place in the whole block of land that could hold the whole school . The unorganised waves of people slowly fell into orderly lines and with time, everyone was silently waiting. Up near the front, a figure stepped up onto a small podium, they raised their hand and shouted: "Welcome back Students to Shuutoku High, and to those who are joining us for the first time this year, we also give you a warm welcome. We wish you all luck. May pride achieve Victory! "
"May pride achieve Victory!" Everyone shouted in unison.
Takao shivered, his dark grey eyes slipping shut. Control your heart rate he told himself, but all he could hear was his heart hammering in his chest, That confidence I had before, Huh, what was I thinking? He chuckled at himself, seemingly now distracted from the panic that almost overwhelmed him before. He opened his eyes and everything was okay, nothing had changed, he was still here. That was a close one . Takao pulled out a schedule from his bag while the crowd was dispersing, his eyes scouring over the piece of paper till he found what he was looking for, and his eyes visibly twinkled with joy. I have maths next . He excitedly jogged over to his locker to get his things before class started. After he got his things (The regrettably heavy maths textbook), he walked through the mishmash of corridors hoping to find the room. He was half concentrated on walking while he listed subjects in his head, it was a good way to keep himself busy. Other than Taiiku or "Physical education" as others called it, his top favourite subjects were "Sugaku" or Math, or maybe "Kagaku" which was Science. Takao was so lost in thought of his favourite subjects that he almost didn't realise that there was a person at least 3 metres away from him. Takao, who was definitely Not daydreaming about maths, saw that there was a person in front of him. The guy had green hair, Huh I've never seen anyone with such colourful hair before , Takao thought. Then something clicked in his head, Green hair , and Takao had definitely noticed how tall he was. His next thought was : Is this the legendary Shintaro Midorima? Then his thought after that was: What if I call out his name?
And he did as he thought.
“Midorima Shintaro?” He called out a little too loud for his own liking, and an odd amount of time passed before the guy turned around. Takao breathed a shaky sigh of relief. It was Midorima Shintaro. Midorima stared at him, deep green eyes studying his whole body.
“How do you know my name?” Midorima asked, his tone cold and calculated. If he had been shocked, Takao wouldn’t have known. The green haired man's expression stayed carefully neutral. Takao noticed the tape wound around the man's fingers ever so carefully, Thats cute , Takao thought absent mindedly against his own will; in his hand sat a tape roller. The silence made the tension between them heavier than the force of pressure at the bottom of the ocean.
Takao smiled, as he was about to reply, he thought We’re going to become good friends .
