Chapter Text
“I can’t believe those new girls!” Ulinana fumed as she was angrily pacing across her and Maleficent's dorm room.
About an hour ago the VK’s were caught trying to steal the sorcerer's cookbook from Merlin’s office, well, except Morgie because he had been standing guard. He honestly had no idea why none of his friends hadn't snitched on him in a moment of desperation. Uliana’s motto was ‘if I’m going down, I will take all of you with me’ after all. He wasn’t complaining though, he was glad that he didn’t have to be in detention for the upcoming years, but he did feel bad for his friends who did, of course.
“We are going to get them back, I am not going to let them get away with this!” Uliana was still pacing around the room. Which caused Hades and Maleficent to get visibly annoyed by the sea witch’s footsteps echoing through the dorm. The couple probably just wanted some alone time, or at the very least some peace, but because Ulinana decided she needed to rant about the situation, they weren’t going to get it unless they left. Which Uliana probably wouldn’t let them.
“ You are going to get back at them,” Maleficent said, playing with her boyfriend's hair while reading, what Morgie presumed was, one of her spell books. “Yeah, we are out” Hades said, lifting his head up from his girlfriend's lap fidgeting with his rings.
“I am too,”
Morgie could’ve seen Maleficent and Hades leaving the group coming, since they had been fed up with being Uliana’s minions for some time, it was just a matter of time before they actually would. But Hook? James had known Uliana as the longest of all of them, and he was definitely her favorite. So it was an understatement that Morgie was confused, but he of course wasn’t the only one. The sea witch had stopped pacing the second he had started speaking. She was just staring at him with her mouth open.
The pirate continued, “We already have detention for the rest of our school careers, I don’t necessarily want to get into more trouble because of you”.
“Fine, Alright then, suit yourselves. I don’t need you anyway!” She snapped after a couple seconds, throwing her hands up in frustration, before she turned to Morgie who was still looking at Hook with wide eyes. “You’re not going to quit me, are you darling?” She asked him in a sickening fake sweet tone.
The sorcerer just blinked at her, having no idea what he should say. He did really want to leave the group, it probably wouldn’t be as fun without James. Maleficent and Hades too, of course. Just more without Hook. Besides, he didn't really want to look like a puppy who just followed their owner everywhere, even though they are terrible to him. But then again, he had spent the entire he knew Uliana desperately trying to get her to like and respect him. And if he was the only one left, he would be her favorite. But just as the, not even second but rather, last choice. The idea of it didn’t exactly entice him to say no, but it definitely made him question if he maybe shouldn't leave her.
“You should” Hades said, lifting his head up from Maleficent again. “Don’t let her drag you into years of detention too.”
“Shut up!” Uliana snapped at the god, “He can decide for himself.”
“Of course he can,” Hook said, glaring at the sea witch as stood straight to cross his arms before leaning against Maleficent’s dresser again. “Hades is just advising him to make the right choice.”
She just huffed before turning to Morgie again, who uncomfortably shifted his pose before just getting off Maleficent’s desk altogether. “So, what's it going to be?”
“Um, I don’t really… you know what, I just realized I have homework due tomorrow, um I'll come back to it later!” The sorcerer stammered before quickly exiting the dorm. He could hear Hook chuckling as he closed the door.
He knew this excuse wasn’t going to be able to avoid having to answer forever, probably not even longer than two days, but hopefully just long enough before he decided what he was going to do. Choosing to stay at Uliana’s side probably had more cons than pros, but it did give him more authority. But even his mother would say he should choose to leave her along with Hook, Maleficent and Hades. Which was telling, but then again she would also say that it’s his choice to make. So if he were to ask her, she wouldn’t really be much of a help. Although he probably wouldn’t really listen to her advice anyway.
“Hi!”
Morgie jumped from hearing the sudden voice that snapped him out of this train of thoughts.
“For heaven’s sake, you scared me” he said, turning around to see Bridget smiling at him, which was weird. Not that she was smiling, she was basically smiling all the time, but at him. Especially after the whole thing with Uliana and the cupcakes.
“I’m so sorry, it’s just I saw you walking and I heard about your friends being banned from castlecoming.”
“How did you know that?” Morgie interrupted her. He himself had only known it for less than a hour, so he wondered how someone outside their friend group had heard about it. But then again those new girls that had also been in Merlin's office could have told her.
“I heard them talking outside my widow! Anyways, I don’t know if you know, but Ella is grounded so she also can’t come and I haven’t seen Red and Chloe since this morning. They also don’t seem to be in their dorm” she was talking so fast Morgie could barely keep up with what she was saying. The princess of wonderland took a breath before continuing, “what I’m trying to say is we could go together as friends if you want to.”
He wasn’t really sure how he should reply. He had really looked forward to castlecoming, and when his friends had told him they had been banned he had been a bit disappointed because he didn’t want to go alone. And Bridget was nice, so going to castlecoming with as friends her probably wouldn’t be terrible.
“Sure, um should I pick you up from your dorm?”
“Oh yes, the number is three hundred and three”
“Okay great, well, I’ll come by around eight”
“Great, I’ll see you then!”
They smiled at each other for a second before they heard a door slamming. They both looked to see Hook walking in their direction. It took him a while before he noticed them. When he did, he stopped walking and just looked at them. Morgie tried to read the expression on his face but before he was successful, Hook’s expression turned stone cold like normally again.
“Well, what’s going on here?” He asked, walking closer to them.
“Oh, Morgie and I are going to castlecoming together” Bridget exclaimed happily, switching between looking at Morgie and Hook, who looked anything but pleased by her response.
“Ah well, that’s great, but if you'll excuse us, pretty boy and I have sleep to catch up on” the pirate said, before just simply walking away, Morgie wished Bridget a goodnight before running after him.
“So you and pinky pie are going together” Hook stated spitefully when Morgie catched up with him. He didn’t look at the other when he said it, he had his eyes fixed on the door of their shared dorm even though that was still a few meters away.
“Um yeah, since you and the others are banned, and apparently Ella is grounded so she asked me”
“And you said yes?” Hook’s voice sounded like he was trying to pick a fight with him. Which confused Morgie, so far he knew he hadn’t done something to upset the other boy.
“Well, yes, she's nice and I kind of wanted to go anyway, just not alone. Besides, doesn't Uliana want to get back at her still, or?” But before Morgie could finish his sentence, Hook cut him off.
“I thought you were going to quit her”
“I don't know”
“Alright then, good night” Hook said as he opened the door and almost shut it in Morgie’s face, who luckily for him, since he had forgotten to take his key with him, was able to step into the dorm room before the door closed.
“Is something wrong?” The sorcerer asked as he walked towards the other boy.
“I’m just tired, good night” the pirate replied while unlacing his boots.
“Good night” Morgie said before walking to the on-suite bathroom to get ready for bed. He could hear James throw his hook on his nightstand and jump his bed. When he came back from the bathroom Hook was already asleep, or at least pretending to be.
