Work Text:
It’s fine, it’s cool
You can say that we were nothing but you know the truth
Hannibal sat in his cell, his usually perfect posture abandoning him as he hunched over a picture. Will and his wife stared back at him smiling. His jaw clenched as he began to think of all of the moments they had shared, the visits, the secrets. It should be him in that picture, not some poor excuse for a replacement.
And guess I’m the fool
With her arms out like an angel through the car sunroof
Will was smiling up at her as she let her hand trail out of the truck window, it made him sick as his hands tightened around the photo. It had shown up in his cell one morning, Chilton was trying to make him miserable. He would never admit that it was working.
I don’t wanna call it off
But you don’t wanna call it love
You only wanna be the one that I call baby
Hannibal laid back and attempted to clear his head. Will had no right to betray and make him feel like this. Why did he even care so much? If Will no longer cared for him then he would return the favor.
You can kiss a hundred boys in bars, shoot another shot try to stop the feeling, You can say it's just the way you are, make a new excuse, another stupid reason. Good luck babe, Good luck babe
Will could live his little happily ever after with Molly, but he knew he would never be content. He needed the danger just as much as Hannibal, they thrived in it. He would miss the cases and their sessions, the adrenaline coursing through his veins as the pendulum of his mind cut its path. He grabbed a pen and began to write a short letter to Will.
You’d have to stop the world just to stop the feeling

I’m cliché, who cares?
It’s a sexually explicit kind of love affair
Will laid by his wife, her slight snores acting as the soundtrack to his racing thoughts. He crumpled a letter and threw it across the room. How dare he reach out now? After everything that's happened and the lengths he's gone to purge Hannibal from his life. Will resented the effect Lecter still has on him.
And I cry, it’s not fair
I just need a little lovin’, I just need a little air
Tears and sweat made for a salty cocktail down Will's face as he stood to look out of the window. His truck shone in the moonlight, dirt stains marring the old paint job. He looks between Molly and the truck as if deciding.
Think I’m gonna call it off
Even if you call it love
I just wanna love someone who calls me baby
Decision was an illusion as he slapped on some shoes and slipped out of the door with a single look back. Molly didn't deserve this, but he didn't deserve acting for the rest of his life either. The truck door slammed as he sped towards Baltimore.

As he moved through the doors of the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane, security guards ran to meet him. They soon realized their mistake as Will used the handle of his pistol to knock them both unconscious. These encounters continued more often as he got deeper into the ‘hospital’ and he couldn't bring himself to give a shit.
When you wake up next to him in the middle of the night with your head in your hands
You’re nothing more than his wife
And when you think about me all of those years ago
You’re standing face to face with I told you so
He stood over Hannibal as he began to wake up, feeling his presence. Lecter’s eyes flashed as he stood to match Will.
“Get tired of your wife, Will?” Hannibal stepped closer, a smirk on his lips at Will's annoyed expression.
“Bastard,” Will slapped him hard across the face. Hannibal didn't flinch and pulled him in for a long kiss.
“You know I hate to say, but I told you so,” Hannibal smiled as he felt pain flash across his cheek again.

Their kiss deepened as Hannibal wrapped his body around Will, pulling their bodies flush together. They didn't even register Chilton standing outside of the cell door and security beginning to surround them. It was them against the world, exactly how it should be.
