“You know what tomorrow is, right?”
“Of course.” Jeonghan left a peck on top of Joshua head; arm was draped casually around Joshua’s shoulders. “It’s our anniversary.”
“Right! So, I have a plan,” Joshua sounded livelier, and brought his iPad closer to Jeonghan to showed his scribbles; containing a list of activities for their anniversary.

In which the old married couple planned to celebrate their eleventh anniversary and Joshua was in charge.
(but the plan was not planning)

Work Text:

Despite having been married to Jeonghan for ten years, Joshua always felt the surge of adrenaline causing him to shaked with excitement, immediately upon the nearing date of their anniversary; which, is tomorrow. He was so distracted all day because his mind was full with the thought of his ultimate list–of things to do–for their eleventh wedding anniversary. Moreover, he was grinning himself–while doing his works–to the point of looking a tad silly.

Seungkwan who was in the cubicle next to him, couldn’t help but peeked from his low wall; observing this particular colleague movement. “Hey, you are awfully”–Seungkwan took a little pause before he continued–“smiley today.”

Joshua looked to his right, and saw Seungkwan gave him a quizzical look. “Huh? What do you mean? I smile at all times, Seungkwan-ah,” Joshua said with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

“I know that! But like, if this is our company report, you are overperforming. Seriously, tone it down. You’re scaring me.” Seungkwan sighed as he pulled his chair near Joshua’s cubicle. “Now, spill the tea.”

“It’s my wedding anniversary tomorrow,” Joshua chuckled, still doing whatever work that was left with the broad smile plastered on his face.

“Oh my God, I thought the previous meeting really took a toll on you. Also, why are you that happy? It’s like this is your first time celebrating,” Seungkwan couldn’t help but snort.

“Well, I just want to make it unforgettable each time. It’s like a reminder of how happy I am to be married and spend every second of my time with my beloved,” Joshua answered while the thought of Jeonghan ran through his mind.

“Gross,” Seungkwan scoffed. “So, are you planning to make a surprise for him?”

“Nope. Jeonghan doesn’t like surprises. We will talk over it at home,” he replied.

Seungkwan bobbed his head, “Ok then, lovebirds. Hoping whatever plan you guys have in store makes both of you happy.”

Joshua just can’t wait to be home. To be with his beloved husband.

“Welcome home, hubby!” Joshua greeted Jeonghan after he opened the door, jumped and wrapped him in a soul crushing hug; enough to make Jeonghan slightly lost his balance before he engulfed Joshua in his arms.

“I’m home, my dear Shuji,” he buried his head in Joshua’s shoulder; leaving tiny kisses.

They stayed in that position for a little while. Savouring the moment as if the time had suddenly stopped. Joshua was the first one to broke away from the hug, his eyes searched for Jeonghan.

Under the dim light behind their front door, Jeonghan took his feature. To say Joshua looked stunning was an understatement. Jeonghan could wrote a book containing hundreds of thousands of words dedicated to describing how Joshua—his dear Joshuji, was his dearly cherished husband, and how divine Joshua was in Jeonghan’s eyes.

Joshua left a quick peck on Jeonghan’s cheek; which, brought Jeonghan out of his little reverie.

“What do you want to eat for dinner? I bought packed prime skirt steaks before I got home,” Joshua said excitedly. “Or, we still have leftovers tom yum from yesterday! I can reheat–”

Jeonghan interrupted by placing a small kiss right on Joshua’s lips; which, not only took Joshua by surprised but also left him utterly stunned. Jeonghan reached out to cupped Joshua’s face between his hands; gently gave it a little squeeze. This, caused Joshua to blinked several times, and finally came back to his sense.

“God, what is in your mouth? Is it a motor?” Jeonghan quipped.

“You love this chatterbox though,” Joshua countered, and placing both hands on top of Jeonghan’s hands.

“I do,” Jeonghan left another peck on his pouty lips. “I think I’m gonna go take a shower and my dear Joshuji can prepare for dinner?”

“Ok! So, steak or tom yum?”

“What do you want to eat more?”

“Hmm,” Joshua contemplated briefly. “Let’s go for tom yum today!”

Jeonghan only needed a total of ten minutes to shower and clean himself. Unlike his husband who took forever to shower—God knows what kind of ritual he did there.

Even when he was finished, Joshua was still preparing for their dinner; in his cute cinnamorol apron, and hummed a random tune. Not long after, they sat and had their dinner together; casually talking about their day—mostly, Jeonghan was the one who do the talking while Joshua listened keenly as he chewed his food throughly.

Once they had finished dinner, Jeonghan rushed to clean up the rest and washed their plates, while Joshua moved to their living room; waiting for Jeonghan to joined him.

Jeonghan sat on the couch—took the opposite side of Joshua. His gaze followed Joshua’s movement, who was busy scribbling on his iPad with his right hand and his left hand was no less busy; picking up the small pieces of carrots from the bowl and nibbling it. Jeonghan chuckled a little—his dear husband was indeed, the personification of a rabbit.

“Hi, handsome.” Joshua scooted closer; smiling from ear to ear. “Why are you slapping the remote?”

“To get them to work, obviously,” Jeonghan grumbled, hoping his action would provide an extra burst of reaction.

“Always my Yoon ‘always hitting something if it doesn’t work’ Jeonghan,” Joshua sneered as he rolled his eyes. He poked Jeonghan’s shoulder with his index finger, prompted Jeonghan to look at him. "You know what tomorrow is, right?”

“Holy crap, Shuji.. Do you set your brightness over 100%?? It’s too bright. No wonder your eyesight keeps getting worse,” Jeonghan took Joshua’s iPad and adjusted the brightness lower before he returned it back.

“I don’t think it’s too bright though..”

“It is, my dear.” Jeonghan rubbed his eyes. “So.. tell me about it, my little Mr. Planner.”

“Ok! So, I think I have a couple things to do with you for this anniversary. First, we can have breakfast in bed! Let’s just relax first in the morning. Then, in the afternoon, we can go to this perfume making place that I had been eyeing for a while. And, and! With the help of Seungcheol, I’ve also booked us for omakase–“

The things he learned while dating Joshua—and has been married to him for eleven years, was that, he needed to master the art of multitasking. Especially when it comes to his dear Joshuji. He still had to know what Joshua was talking about, even thought he got lost in his eyes. Just entirely pensive by how pretty Joshua was when he talks and how Jeonghan couldn’t seem to stop his eyes trailing downward; landed on Joshua’s clear glosses lips–

“What do you think about it, Jeonghan-ah? I’m always open for feedback and suggestions,” Joshua inquired.

“That’s the most elaborate plan for anniversary that I’ve ever heard. I wouldn’t expect anything less from my dear Shuji,” Jeonghan exclaimed.

“Glad to be at your service, hubby!”

“I really mean it. You don’t have to tire yourself out to prepare this much for our anniversary.. Spending the time with you is already my paradise on earth. Sorry if I wasn’t engaging much on this arrangement, but I hope you know, I never love you any less.”

“It’s ok! I always love planning. It’s the Js in me, haha,” Joshua covered his mouth as he laugh; sparkly cat like eyes turned into enchanting crescent moon shape. “It’s not a hassle on my part, you know that.. You are always happy to follow my plans and I’m always grateful for that. You even put up with my shenanigans! Haha, you appreciate my form of love in your own way. Let’s keep loving each other like this, ok? Until we’re both grandpas.”

“Don’t get too cocky. I wouldn’t love the old, grey, and wrinkly version of you,” Jeonghan scratched his forehead with his fingers and stucked his tongue out at Joshua—in joking manner.

“Urgh, Yoon Jeonghan–“

Jeonghan pulled him closer to sit on his lap; leaning in and pressed their lips together. Joshua could feel the desperation in Jeonghan’s kiss so he took the signal and opened his mouth; letting Jeonghan’s tongue to slipped inside as Jeonghan kissed him deeper. A little gasp, whine, and beautiful sounds escaped from Joshua’s mouth and it got Jeonghan exhilarated; he can’t help but to let out a groan. They stayed like that for a moment until they ran out of breath and started to pull their head back slowly. A little dazed, Joshua nuzzled his nose against Jeonghan’s shoulder. He could felt Joshua’s happy giggles and small smile on his shoulder. The soft and pillowy feeling from Joshua’s lips lingered against his lips.

“Your heart is beating so fast,” Joshua grinned; trying to unbuttoned the top of Jeonghan’s shirt.

“Why are you trying to undress me?” Jeonghan chuckled at Joshua’s antics.

“Whoopsie, you got me,” Joshua laughed as he tried to lift himself up from Jeonghan’s lap and sat next to him; head thrown back on the couch.

“You tease.” Jeonghan said after a moment to collect himself, a sly grin passed across his face. “My dear Shuji, care to join me in bed? I need to alter my companionless state of affairs. I will provide the best sexcapade ever known to the mankind.”

Joshua couldn’t help but to laugh hysterically; couldn’t stop the urge to hit Jeonghan’s shoulders with his hands. After the laughter died down and a series of ‘ouch’ leaving Jeonghan’s mouth, Joshua wiped the tears of laughter as he scooted closer to Jeonghan, “Ok, but you need to carry me to bed.”

“Do you want me to break some bones?”

“Hey! I’m not that heavy,” Joshua snapped.

“You should be the one who carry me. Show me how those gyms paid off,” Jeonghan insisted; trying to feel Joshua’s biceps while the shit-eating grins appeared on his face.

“Urgh, I hate yo–“

Before Joshua could finish his sentence, Jeonghan scoped him out of the couch, up into his arms; resulted in undignified squawk as Joshua tensed momentarily for being carried bridal style.

Both of them started to giggles.

“I’m just messing with you,” Jeonghan sounded elated. Looking at Joshua’s eyes with playful glint as he carried him to the bedroom.

Joshua huffed, “Ok, whatever you say, grandpa.”

Behind the closed door, Joshua was a whimpering mess under Jeonghan.

Now, now, who was the grandpa again?

Rays of sunlight lit up the room, although the curtains were shut. Jeonghan wasn’t ready for such awakening that blinded him. The memories of their sexcapades came rushing back to him. A smile began to emerged from his lips even though he grumbled a little because he woke up feeling like he had been run over by truck—please, he started pushing 40. He looked beside him and found Joshua still fast asleep—not a surprise, to be honest. His husband slept like a log.

Oh! He almost forgot about something.

He hurriedly opened the second drawer–the drawer that Joshua never touched–from the nightstand and took out the jewerly box. A week ago, Jeonghan bought two identical necklaces with daisy pendant; which, at the back of the pendant, J initials were engraved. Jeonghan scrupulously put the necklace around Joshua’s neck right away.

As expected, his husband didn’t move an inch from his deep slumber. Well, Jeonghan was one to blame; not only as a result of Joshua’s habit to slept like the dead but also their sex lasted for 5 hours last night. Jeonghan decided to let Joshua sleep some more.

“Ah, you’re finally awake.”

Joshua blinked some more; greeted with the sight of Jeonghan as they faced each other.

Joshua groaned, “What time is it?”

“Almost 12, my dear Shuji,” Jeonghan muttered.

That seemed to jolt Joshua awake, “ WHAT!? What about breakfast in bed!!” Joshua hollered as the realization hits him.

“We can skip that. No worries. There are plenty of lists left,” Jeonghan tried to console him, and decided to follow suit Joshua who already sitting upright.

Joshua scratched his neck, “But–“

Huh?

Joshua felt something on his neck. He didn’t remember wearing a necklace?

Joshua shooted a questioning look at Jeonghan, who was looking at him with a knowing look.

Jeonghan reached out for Joshua’s hands, holding it tightly, “Happy eleventh wedding anniversary, my dear Joshuji,” Jeonghan stroked Joshua’s hands with his thumbs.

“This is a small gift from me. Look, this is a couple items! I remembered how much you love daisy and our initials was engraved on the back of the pendant. This may not be much, but I hope you like it?
You know.. Whenever you talk about something and it makes you happy, You can’t fathom how badly I want to be part of it, be the part that makes you smile the brightest and the reason of your happiness.. Y-you could absolutely broke my heart, tore it to pieces.. You’re the only person I’d allowed to do that, you know? I can go on.. I just.. Please, Shuji, please.. Keep me around. I want to play a part in your life and I hope my part is to love you the hardest until i take my last breath. I’m in love with you, again, and always more than usual,” Jeonghan finished it with a gentle kiss on Joshua’s temple.

Joshua was left agape. There was a lump on his throat; eyes a tad watery. He tried to touched the daisy pendant; fiddled it for a while, and after a brief of time, he threw himself into the arms of Jeonghan—his beloved husband.

“What the hell, Jeonghan-ah!!” Joshua cried as he find comfort in the loving arms of his husband—his safest place; his own garden. “You beat me! This is already the best anniversary, ever!”

Jeonghan giggled before he patted Joshua’s back in a comforting rhythm; planted a tender kisses on the top of Joshua’s head, “Can’t help to be the sole competitor and winner of who loves you the most.”

Joshua smiled, resting his head on Jeonghan’s chest.

“Jeonghan-ah,” Joshua called.

Jeonghan only hummed as his response, his lips pressed against Joshua’s head.

“It feels really good to be loved and be known by you. An honor, I would say.. I..I have nothing to hide from you. The rawest I’ve ever been, like, not even myself can be this honest to myself”–Joshua took a little pause–“but I laid bare my soul here and offer you the same kind of love, Jeonghan-ah.. And I hope, It’ll last, the greatest one. And I wouldn’t love like this again, ever.. If it’s not for you, if it’s not with you.. Happy anniversary, hubby! I love you the most!”

Jeonghan closed the remaining gap between them. He pressed kisses to Joshua’s forehead, his rosy cheeks, his button nose, and finally went to his plumpy lips, to kissed him senseless. Jeonghan would shower him with kisses forever if he could.

My dear Joshuji..

“Slight change of plan. Would you care to join me for lunch in bed? You need to do the cooking though. I want my prime skirt steak,” contradicting his words, Jeonghan still hugging Joshua tight. Heart beating steadily. Neither of them wanted to let go of each other.

Joshua only nodded as his response. Gentle smile bloomed acrossed his face; heart melted and mushy.
Maybe a slight change of plan wasn’t so bad after all, and Joshua wished he could forever be content in Jeonghan’s embrace; letting his beloved caged his heart and threw the key away, so that Joshua’s heart would always be guarded and entirely belonged to Jeonghan.

(my heart is yours); and it was enough.
