All Beomgyu wanted to do today was spend quality time with his boyfriend. That’s all he wanted to do. Though apparently things were soon to take an unfortunate turn as he had to physically stop himself from jumping over the counter and punching Soobin or whatever his name was square in the face.
Beomgyu had brought Kai, his boyfriend of 3 years, to McDonald’s. That’s where he should’ve known that today was bound to not end well. Don’t get him wrong, he wanted to take Kai somewhere else, literally anywhere else. But Kai had been set on getting the McDonald’s chicken nuggets which he was sure weren’t even made out of real chicken.
So of course when Kai flashed Beomgyu his pearly whites with a giggle he knew that he was going to make sure that his boyfriend got his goddamn chicken nuggets.
The McDonald’s was fairly empty considering it had been a Saturday afternoon, but it played all too well in Beomgyu’s favor who only had to wait in line for a few minutes before he and Kai were next in line.
“Welcome to McDonald's, what would you like to order?'' The cashier said robotically. as he looked at Beomgyu expectantly.
“Just the chicken nuggets please” Beomgyu replied tight lipped as he shifted his weight from one foot to another.
“Wait, can you get me a McFlurry too?” Kai soon cut into the exchange as he brought up his hand to point at the dessert that was on the big LED screen containing the whole menu. He playfully rolled his eyes before asking to add a McFlurry to their order. That’s where it all went downhill.
“Okay, so a McFlurry and the chicken nuggets?” The cashier questioned before bringing up a finger to type in their order. “Yeah..” Beomgyu said, elongating his words when he came to notice that Soobin was staring at Kai.
“Yo.. Is that your girl?” The cashier asked, his gaze indicating that he’d been talking about Kai. Beomgyu slightly raised his eyebrow before confirming that Kai was indeed his boyfriend.
“Wow.. you are stunning, ” The worker said, speaking directly to Kai, their order now long forgotten. “Aww thank you” Kai beamed, accepting his compliment.
Beomgyu felt like the air had been knocked out of his lungs when he came to realize that this thing had just started to openly flirt with his boyfriend right after Beomgyu just told him that they were in a relationship. And Kai , his sweet oblivious Kai was currently urging him on. This was apparent when he could have sworn that the cashier’s pupils turned into hearts when Kai smiled at him.
“So.. How long have you two been together?” The cashier questioned, seeming to have the balls to speak to Beomgyu directly.
“3 years,” Beomgyu said flatly, his gaze burning holes into the cashier’s face.
“3 years?” Kai nodded, his black locs lightly bouncing as he gave him a clarification. “I don’t see a ring on his finger,” he said, leaning over the counter to look at Kai’s hands, who in return looked at Beomgyu with dusty pink cheeks.
“Oh, that’s because we didn’t get married yet,” Beomgyu said matter of factly, soon crossing his arms over his chest.
“Wow.. If I went out with someone that beautiful, I would definitely have a ring on his finger by now” Soobin said, pushing his blonde strands back as he gave Kai a once over before giving him a smile.
“Okay? That’s good for you.” Beomgyu said irritably before taking a suggestive step forward, Kai in return trying to pull him back. He looked down at the cashier’s name tag because there was no way that he wasn’t going to report this. Soobin , Beomgyu found it ironic how that name actually fit his stupid face.
“How is that good for me?” Soobin asked, now looking directly at Beomgyu.
“I mean that’s good for you if that’s what you want to do” Beomgyu replied as he tried to calm himself down, courtesy of not wanting to change the view that Kai had of him.
“Who said that’s what I want to do?” Soobin questioned.
“You said that’s what you would do” Beomgyu clarified, taken a bit back by his response because maybe he just heard him wrong the first time.
“I didn’t say that’s what I want to do,” Soobin said, throwing his hands up as if he didn’t mean any harm. “I said that’s what I would’ve did ”
Beomgyu was this close to wiping that smug smile off of his face with his bare hands. Was being an absolute asshole the only requirement to work here?
“Can we just get our order?” He said in disbelief because was this actually happening right now?
“Can you get your order? Can you?” Soobin replied, his eyebrow raised as he began sizing Beomgyu up.
“What’s your problem?” Beomgyu scoffed as he took another step forward.
Now understanding what was going on, Kai brought up his hands to tug on Beomgyu’s arm. “We can just eat somewhere else Beom.. Leave it..” Kai reckoned, not wanting Beomgyu to get him banned from McDonald’s.
Beomgyu shook his arm out of Kai’s grasp before looking at Soobin to size him up in return. He’d been about 2-3 inches taller than Beomgyu, slim frame, disgusting face. He could probably take him.
He was dead set on spending quality time with his boyfriend today and making new memories. It’d been going so well until this jerk who obviously didn't know what social cues were started to hit on his boyfriend. And god forbid Beomgyu didn’t get Kai his goddamn chicken nuggets.
“I didn't know we had a problem, what are you going to do to solve it?” Soobin jested, now making his way around the McDonald’s counter as he loosened his uniform tie, Beomgyu turning to walk in his direction. “Beomgyu please ” Kai practically pleaded as he followed in Beomgyu’s trail.
Of course, Beomgyu threw the first punch.
