Chapter Text
Danny shuffled away from his parents as they trained their guns on him, his core aching with the knowledge that they were so ready to shoot him. Tears welled up in his eyes as his mothers finger tightened on the trigger, no remorse in her expression as Jack prepared the Jack-o-Nine Tails. A portal opened behind Danny and he fell though, landing on the floor of the clocktower where Clockwork was floating nearby, the Ancient of time turned to him and his form shifted from that of an elderly man to the form of a child.
"Clockwork?" The half ghost questioned and pushed himself to his feet, grabbing the ancient in a hug, Clockwork rubbed Danny's back gently and rested his other hand on the half ghosts head. Danny tried to hold back his tears as Clockwork held him close, trying to calm him down. Clockwork had become like a father to him as his parents became more and more distant, worrying more about their work and trying to hunt him down when he was out as Phantom. The ancient has described to him the concept of ghost parents and claimed him as his son," you interfered," Danny mumbled and Clockwork just smiled, continuing to rub his back.
"I couldn't allow them to hurt you, the observants will be fine," Clockwork said and the two of them pulled away from each other, Clockwork changing his from from a child to a middle aged man. Danny rubbed his eyes," you can't stay in his world anymore, it will only cause you more pain, Daniel," the ancient told Danny, the half ghost blinked a few times in shock.
"Where can I go? Sam and Tucker isn't an option. It's the first place they'll look," Danny voiced his concern and Clockwork simply smiled at him. He waved his staff and a swirling green portal opened to the side of them, Danny looked to the ancient of time, clenching and unclenching his fists.
" This world will be safe for you. You can find a new family," Clockwork told him and Danny thanked the ancient. His form shifted from middle aged to old," one last thing Daniel, you're ghost form will be different in this world. You will be protected," he said cryptically before Danny was propelled through the portal.

Falling through the air Danny cursed, willing those familiar white rings to appear around his middle and wash over his body. His descent stopped and Danny's entire body was pulled upward, the half ghost blinked and noticed deep black paws instead of his white gloved hands. Danny experimentally moved the large black wings on his back and propelled himself towards the nearest land, the first thing he noticed about his different form was he would need to get used to it. Landing on the beach of an island he changed back to his human form and took a deep breath.
"Okay Danny, your ghost form is different. The question is, what do I change into now?" Danny talked to himself as he paced through the sand and ran a hand through his hair. The sea air smelt nice, it was something he wasn't used to having grown up in a small suburban town. Danny looked at the cliff that encased the beach and changed forms, flying up and changing back once he landed," where even am I?" the half ghost asked himself, seeing nothing but miles upon miles of ocean. He heard a growl behind him and turned, stumbling back when he saw a dragon.
'A dragon!? Where did he send me?' Danny thought in a panic as the large fire-breathing reptile stalked closer to him, smoke billowing from under its lips. Danny took a calming breath and held out his hands in a placating manner," I'm not going to hurt you," he tried to calm down the territorial reptile. The dragon was right on top of him and Danny remained calm, letting the dragon decide if he wanted to kill him or not, eventually huffing hot air out of its nose and onto Danny's face before backing off and leaving Danny alone. The half ghost sighed and sat down on the edge of the cliff," so dragons are real now, that must mean I change into a dragon," Danny deduced and changed forms.
---
Danny was peacefully flying when a giant spear was hurled at him, he dodged the spear and righted himself, staying still in the air as the Vikings ran around the deck. The half ghost blinked 'okay so there are Vikings here too, and they want to kill me' he thought to himself grimly. He really didn't want to hurt people but he also felt his core pulling him to defend himself, Danny experimentally opened his mouth, firing a plasma blast that must have replaced his ecto-blasts. The ship started going down and Danny tried to call on his invisibility, he heard the Vikings screaming about him disappearing, Danny released a breath and flew away from the sinking ship.
After getting away from the ship Danny let his invisibility drop, flapping his wings occasionally to keep himself in the air, if he was going to be hunted here to, he was going to defend himself.

Hiccup longed to find something more outside the archipelago, he and his friends had discovered every dragon in the Book of Dragons and more, they had learned so much from the Dragon Eye. Toothless warbled and Hiccup rubbed his neck, shouting in surprise when arrows were shot at him and his best friend. The others scattered so they wouldn't get hit and Hiccup steered Toothless away from the barrage of arrows, stopping when he heard the familiar high pitched whistle of a night fury diving. His attention snapped to the black blur that was heading towards them and blinked when a powerful green blast struck the side of the ship. Hiccup's eyes widened when he saw the black dragon stationary in the air and getting ready to fire another blast.
"Get the nets ready!" one of the trappers yelled and Hiccup acted fast, going to destroy the net launcher before the night fury could be captured. Toothless opened his mouth and fired a plasma blast at the net launcher, leaving behind a smoldering pile of metal. Hiccup locked eyes with the night fury, the other dragon riders remained quiet until the night fury started flying away, Toothless started following with Hiccup almost falling off at the speed which he took off at. They followed the night fury until it landed on an island, walking past the tree line.
Hiccup landed and got off of Toothless," get off of this island. I don't want you here," an angered voice said and Hiccup jumped, looking to see a black haired male standing in front of the trees. Toothless walked up beside the one legged Viking and warbled before running up to the male and pushing him to the ground while licking his face, the boy pushed against Toothless and HIccup felt the urge to laugh.
"We saw a night fury land on this island, did you see where he went?" Hiccup asked with a hopefulness in his tone, Toothless had finally gotten off of the boy and was nuzzling him. The boy just continued to stare at Hiccup," my friends and I don't want to hurt the night fury. We haven't seen one besides Toothless," he explained, the boy seemed apprehensive before he walked closer to Hiccup. The one legged Viking watched him carefully and Toothless was following after the boy closely, moving to stand beside Hiccup again.
---
'You can trust these people Daniel' the voice of Clockwork rang through Danny's head," I didn't see anything," Danny decided not to say anything about him being the night fury. Hiccup visibly deflated and Toothless continued to stare at him, the dragon could most likely tell that he was the night fury. Hiccup got on Toothless' back, offering for Danny to come with them back to the Edge," you would let me come with you? When you don't even know me?" Danny questioned and Hiccup nodded while Toothless gave him a gummy smile.
Danny sighed and accepted the offer after a few minutes of reluctance, he hoped that his trust wasn't going to be misplaced.
