Work Text:

Karl is used to being confined to a cage.

He is confined to a cage, when his human takes him to the torture place. He’s tricked with treats into a cage with the door shut behind him. He screams. How dare he treat his favorite raccoon this way! He tries to tip the cage over. But his human is very smart and surrounded his cage with fluffy blankets while in the car. Karl does not stop screaming. He doesn’t like the cage, he likes his car seat. He does not want to go to the place. His Human calls it the ‘vet’, he calls it the torture place. They poke him and pick him up. If he screams enough, he’ll feel a prick and wake up in his human's arms at home. He doesn’t know what happens in between the prick and being at home but he doesn’t really care. He is no longer at the torture place.

Karl is used to being confined to a disgusting, wet mouth.

The humans calls him ‘Oakly’ and say he’s a ‘dog’, Karl just thinks he’s a menace. Oakley came after Karl had established his dominance over the humans, and Karl did not appreciate being chased around. The menace may have been too big to get under the couch, but he was good at catching the edge of Karl’s tail and pulling him out from his hiding place. Every time he drags Karl out from his hiding place, he picks him up by the scruff and parades around with him like he’s a prize. The menace likes picking him up. The menace loves carrying Karl around, ignoring his screaming. His human and the menace’s human always laugh.

Karl is used to being confined under a furry body.

Usually, after Karl is nabbed and pranced around while being held by the menace, he goes and climbs into his dog bed in the corner, circling a couple times before laying down, Karl under his paws. Karl doesn’t stop screaming and chittering angrily at the maintenance, but he doesn’t care. He starts to lick Karl and groom him, Karl stopping his protest in pure disgust. He does not enjoy this, he swears it. He does not long to be caught and then cuddled by Oakley the menace. He is silent in protest, that’s it.

Karl is used to being confined to his humans side.

Karl doesn’t mind being practically attached to his human. He has wide shoulders to climb and very fluffy hair to sit on. His human pets him a lot, especially when he gets nervous or he’s around that smaller human. The smaller human gives Karl snacks, so he can forgive him for making his human nervous. His human takes Karl everywhere with him, Karl goes on the flying metal thing with his human and goes to the food place with his human. Sometimes other irrelevant humans try to tell his human that Karl can’t go inside buildings. When that happens Karl is left to run around outside until his human comes back. Karl is okay staying with his human though, because it’s warm on his shoulders. It’s warm being in his humans arms. He likes being carried by his human.

Karl has mixed feelings about other humans trying to confine him.

Other humans like touching Karl, like trying to hold him. The smaller long-haired human is very gentle when holding him, Karl doesn’t mind her touching him. The menace’s human is less gentle but never hurts Karl, so Karl doesn’t mind being held by him. Karl doesn’t like being held by the man wrapped in white, the one who Karl sees when he sees the small human and the long-haired human. The man wrapped in white has dirty hands. Not the kind of dirty that is all over Karl’s paws from running all over the floor, no, his hands are filthy with the lives of other people. Karl can just tell. Karl pointed a pointy metal at him once, because his human is very kind and taught Karl how to hold the pointy metal and poke people with it. He remembers hearing his human yell at him to stop as he chased the man wrapped in white, but Karl did not listen. Karl does not like the man wrapped in white.
