Work Text:

Adjusting to life as an undead creature had been easier than Aleksi expected.

Two months ago, he’d gotten wasted, and brought an equally drunk blonde home from the bar. One thing led to another, and the blonde man had started kissing his neck. And then kissing had turned into…something else.

At first, Aleksi had been too drunk to realize what was going on. When he had eventually figured out that his blood was being sucked, his biting kink had overruled his common sense. Like an idiot, he’d slurred at his hookup partner to keep going. The vampire clearly hadn’t known his limits - and Aleksi had passed out from blood loss soon after.

He’d woken up alone in his bed, thirsty for blood. At first he’d been heartbroken, and wondered why his sire had Turned him, and then ghosted. He’d waited what seemed like forever for a call back. But before long, his thoughts had turned to how he would survive his new (after)life.

His friend Tommi just happened to work at a blood bank, and was able to sneak him bags of the precious liquid he now needed to live. He was the only one who knew what Aleksi had become.

Aleksi’s job already allowed him to work from home, so he didn’t have to venture out into the burning rays of the sun. But perhaps the part of his life that had changed the most, was dating.

If a cute guy messaged him on Grindr, and asked him out for coffee or lunch, he had to say no. Aleksi could no longer go outside in the daytime, or consume human food.

But tonight, he’d finally hit a stroke of luck. He’d matched with an attractive looking top on the app, and the man was willing to meet him for a drink after dark!

Olli, the blonde’s profile read. 27. 180 cm. 75 kg.

His bio said that he was originally from Oulu, and had moved to Helsinki for nursing school.

“He’s so fucking cute,” Aleksi mumbled to himself, as he stood in his bathroom, and sprayed himself with cologne.

Should I put on foundation, to hide the whole ‘undeathly pallor’ thing? he wondered. Nah. This is Finland. He’s probably used to seeing very pale men.

He had an excited but nervous spring in his step, as he exited his apartment, and walked across the street to the bar.

As soon as he walked in, he saw Olli sitting at a table in the corner. He was even sexier than he’d looked in his profile picture.

“H-Hi,” Aleksi smiled anxiously. “It’s nice to meet you. Thanks for agreeing to meet so late at night.”

“No problem. It’s nice to meet you too, Aleksi,” Olli smiled back. “Have a seat, and I’ll get us a couple beers.”

“Thanks,” Aleksi replied. Fuck. He missed beer.

Soon, Olli returned, with two green, glass bottles in his hands.

“So,” he began, “tell me about yourself.”

“Oh, there’s not much to tell,” Aleksi shrugged. “I love long walks on the beach. I majored in music at the University of Helsinki.”

“What kind of music do you like?” Olli asked curiously.

“Mostly EDM,” Aleksi answered. “But, lately I’ve also gotten into a couple metal bands, like Bring Me The Horizon.”

“I love Bring Me The Horizon,” Olli grinned. “Maybe we could catch a concert together on their next tour.”

“That would be awesome!” Aleksi said happily. “What about you, Olli? What are some of your hobbies?”

“Recently, I started learning how to play bass guitar,” Olli told him, as he took a sip of his drink.

“Oh, that’s so cool,” Aleksi gushed. “What’s your favorite song that you’ve learned so far?”

“At Dawn They Sleep,” Olli said as he continued to sip his beer. “By Slayer.”

“Nice,” Aleksi smiled.

We’re both musicians, he thought giddily. We have so much in common!

“I’m going to go to the bathroom,” Olli announced, setting his drink down.

“Oh, okay,” Aleksi nodded. “I’ll see you when you get back.”

As soon as Olli was out of sight, Aleksi dumped his bottle of beer into a potted plant. He wanted Olli to think that he drank it (and that he was an ordinary human).

Suddenly, his phone chirped. He had a new DM on the Grindr app.

I guess you didn’t get the memo lol, Olli had messaged him.

What memo? Aleksi typed back, confused.

I wanted you to follow me into the men’s room, Olli explained. So you can suck me good and hard ;)

“…Oh,” Aleksi reddened. He knew the date had been going well so far, but he hadn’t thought it was going that well.

Still, being a frequent Grindr user, he certainly wasn’t opposed to a quick, casual fuck. The fact that Olli couldn’t even wait to get back to his place, was actually extremely hot.

He was already getting hard when he walked into the bathroom and found Olli sitting on the counter, smirking at him.

“You want it here and now, huh?” Aleksi asked flirtatiously.

“Fuck yeah,” Olli winked. “Give it to me.”

Aleksi didn’t have to be told twice. But, rather than immediately sink to his knees, he decided that he wanted to make this moment last.

He leaned in, pushing Olli slightly backwards against the marble counter as he kissed him on the mouth.

Fuck. His lips tasted so good.

Olli carded his fingers through Aleksi’s short hair, pulling him closer as he deepened the kiss, sucking on his tongue eagerly.

Aleksi was panting when he pulled away. He tugged at the button on Olli’s shirt collar, and brought his lips to the older man’s neck.

Olli gasped in pleasure as Aleksi kissed and nipped at his throat.

Shit , Aleksi realized. From here, I can smell his blood.

It smelled absolutely delicious, and the urge to bite down harder, and pierce Olli’s skin with his fangs, was strong.

No , Aleksi told himself. You shouldn’t suck his blood without his consent.

If he told Olli what he was, would he run away? Scream for help?

Or maybe, just maybe, he’d be into it.

Aleksi decided to take that chance.

“Olli, d-don’t freak out,” Aleksi said hesitantly. “But, um, I don’t know how else to say this. I’m a vampire.”

“I know,” Olli smirked.

“Huh?” Aleksi blinked. “What do you mean, you know?”

From that moment, everything happened so fast. The look in Olli’s blue eyes suddenly turned cold and vicious. He took something out of his pants pocket - a piece of wood? - and before Aleksi could realize what was happening, or even react, he stabbed him in the chest with it.

“Aaaaah!” Aleksi screamed in pain, sinking to the floor.

He realized now what the piece of wood protruding from his chest was. It was a stake . Just like in the movies.

He couldn’t believe this was happening to him - that it was really going to end this way.

His life’s blood slowly pooled around him, staining the white tiles of the bathroom floor a deep red.

“I knew from the beginning that you were a vampire,” Olli laughed cruelly as he stared down at the injured man, abandoning his kind facade. “I’m a professional slayer. I lured you here, so that I could end your pathetic life.”

Why? Aleksi wanted to ask. But he was choking on the blood that gushed from his mouth, no longer able to speak.

I trusted you.

“I killed your sire the night after he Turned you,” Olli gloated, as Aleksi writhed in agony on the cold floor. “But it took me months to track you down.”

Aleksi saw darkness at the corners of his vision, and knew that his last moments were slipping away from him.

“I’ve been watching you, Aleksi,” Olli revealed. “I know you haven’t murdered any humans yet. But eventually, if I let you live, you would . Monsters like you always do.”

I wouldn’t, Aleksi thought, tears pricking his eyes. I was never going to hurt anyone!

“My best friend, Joonas, was murdered by your kind,” Olli explained. “I swore on his grave that I would slay every last vampire in Finland. And I will, Aleksi. You’re not my first kill, and you certainly won’t be my last.”

Aleksi’s body felt so terribly cold.

It wasn’t fair! He was only twenty-five. He was far too young to die. He wished more than anything that he had never gone on this godforsaken date. His father would never know what happened to him. His dog would never know why he didn’t come home.

“I have to go now,” Olli smiled coldly. “Before the bartender figures out what I’ve done to you. Don’t worry - it’ll only be a few more minutes before you’ve finished bleeding out. And then the sun will rise, and shine through the bathroom window, and turn your corpse into a a pile of dust.”

The heartless slayer laughed and kicked Aleksi’s bleeding body out of the way, as he exited the bathroom.

I’m really going to die alone, Aleksi realized, tears streaming down his face. For the second time this year.
