Chapter 1: A Night Out

Chapter Text

It was a beautiful, crisp, cool winters night.

Bon Mucho had some time to himself, and chose to spend his free time flying through the air. For a brief moment, he could forget all that had transpired and be free. He could release that anxiety, guilt and shame for a little while. The beauty of Euphoria made it easy to lose oneself in its wonder. Eventually, he would have to return to his post soon enough, so it was best to savour the moment while he could. He passed through the beautiful landscapes of Euphoria, from the impossible mountains, to the dense jungle, even Dolangomeri was gorgeous. It reminded him of home and was a comfort in his life filled with war. It was a dark void filled with death and mourning, but the Mojyas somehow managed to make such a dismal place seem lively. As he was passing by while returning to his post, he noticed something peculiar. A small purple dot hidden amongst the trees had caught his eye. He must've stared at it for too long, because before he knew it, he flew face first into a tree.

He began to fall and tried to catch himself, but only managed to entangle himself in his own cape. He plummeted towards the ground, his fall 'softened' by the many prickly branches that jutted out from the many trees; for a brief moment, he remembered why he originally despised this planet. Still, he had managed to stop his fall just before reaching the ground with his levitating magic, but, this wasn't right. He was upside-down. He released the spell and expected to come to the ground again, but nothing happened. It was then he realized that his cape was caught on one of those branches from before. He struggled and tried to free himself, kicking and grabbing at his cloak, when he heard a cracking sound come from the nearby bushes. He stopped suddenly, and glanced towards the woods.

A massive figure stood enveloped by darkness, well, massive for the normally tiny creatures that inhabited this planet. He felt fearful for a moment and wrapped himself in a bit of his cloak for comfort. The being stepped out, revealing itself. She was a Locoroco for sure, but heavily maimed and had a look of mischievousness spread across her face. She had an impressive build, muscular and cruel with a penchant for trouble. You could read the battle stories that were tattooed across her body in the form of deep scarring. One eye was missing, and the other a ghostly white, but he could still feel her red hot vision peering into his soul. He had hoped that she was blind and would pass him by, so he remained motionless and silent.

Her grin tightened on her face, and he shut his eyes and braced for the worst. With a hard yank, the leader crumpled to the ground with a loud thud. He opened his eyes, confused for a brief moment, before the Locoroco stomped her high-heeled boot into his chest. He let out a yelp and his toy body squeaked as it was crushed under her heel.

"Been lookin for some fun tonight," She laughed as she cracked her knuckles, "but I don't know, I might feel bad destroying a wimp like you."

Bon coughed out a response after catching his breath, "You have no idea what you're getting into-"

He was cut short by her driving her heel further into his chest.

She giggled again as the plushie made another depressing squeak.

"Stop that!" He yelled again this time.

"Nah, it's pretty funny."

She picked him up like a small child, which was quite strange considering he was much taller than her, and threw his body against a tree.

"Aren't you supposed to be, like, super strong or something?" She sighed. "Come on, hit me, or shoot me or something!"

"What?" He asked, before realizing he had an ample opportunity to cripple this foolish Locoroco. He charged at her and swung his cane, hitting her in the side of the neck and knocking her to the ground. He felt glad to have finally put this cocky beast to the dirt, but that was soon changed to horror as he heard her laugh again.

"Yes," She spat out some blood, "that's exactly what I'm talking about, heehee~"

This wasn't good, no, this was very, very bad. Most of these helpless creatures would faint at the idea of a fight, but this anomaly was completely alien from the rest of her kind. The fact that she was enjoying this fight, even calling it 'fun' before was truly frightening and unusual. He felt worried for a second that maybe this Locoroco wasn't what she seemed, but what was she then? His thoughts were interrupted yet again by her tackling him, impaling his chest on a tree branch.

"AGH-"

"HAHAHA" She laughed again as she clamped her hands around his throat.

"I SURRENDER, I SURRENDER-" He yelled.

Her smile turned into a frown, and she tugged him off the branch. At least, the damage wasn't so bad, nothing that couldn't be stitched together later. She towered over him, standing with her arms crossed.

"You're so pathetic." She stated. "I really thought the Prince of these demons would be cruel, evil, or like, at least snarky." She half-joked.

"Maybe I really do feel bad for beating the living shit out of you." She sneered with a small smile creeping back onto her face.

"Huh?" He was still so confused. "What, do you like torturing Mojyas?"

She kicked him in the face.

"OBVIOUSLY, dumbass. The demonic bastards you lead are the exact same! Don't you dare patronize me." She barked.

"Ah, I'm sorry, I really didn't mean anything by it-" He muttered as he adjusted his mask. "It's just- I thought your people fought for peace-"

She readied her fists again, but stopped.

"Hmpf, maybe the others do, but I know your true nature. The only way to end this war is by killing you bastards, but death alone won't clear away your sins. I'll make you feel the suffering you inflict on others, and I'll laugh just the same too." She grinned again.

She lifted him off the ground and steadied him on his feet, dusting off his shoulders.

"You're kinda different too you know." She smiled.

Different? He really didn't think that he was that different from the other Mojyas, he had committed just as many, if not more sins than them. Maybe she was just mistaking his general politeness for goodness. Before he could say anything, she kissed him on the cheek, and pulled his hat down over his face, then ran away and cheered like a little girl who had just gotten a new toy.
