Know That All My Love Will Be Your Breath, I Will Save You When Your Lights Go Out...

Summary:

Scott has had enough of being betrayed by his teammates, it's always happened in theses games! So now, in the next game called secret life, Scott decides that he'll be the lone wolf. But then a pesky bird comes along, pestering and teasing him to be his teammate, and Scott reluctantly agrees. It won't be that bad to team up with the guy who has betrayed everyone of his teammates in each game, right...? Who am I joking? Ofcourse it'll be bad! But this is better than having him do stupid stuff just to win him over and be his teammate! And he also needs to complete his obnoxiously stupid task. Might as well get that over with.

Chapter 1: Dyeing Hair Red

Chapter Text

Scott groaned as he picked up Grian's call. What does he want from him now?! "Hello?" Grian chirps back. "Hey, Scott! Can I come over to your base? Wanted to talk about somethings..." His voice began to grow from cheery to dark, and that got Scott worried.

"Okay, come over. I'm almost free." Grian gives back a sigh of relief. "Thanks. I'll be there soon. See you." Scott puts the comm down and goes on to clean up the mess made by preparing the dye. He hopes it's nothing too bad.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Grian decided that scaring Scott was the best option to approach the guy. Unfortunately, he forgot about the instincts said guy had. Scott was in the llama garden, putting food and water for the llamas, concentrated, since Eloise(llama) had decided to snap at him at every opportunity granted.
 Grian sneakily approached Scott and put both of his hands on his shoulders, and the next second, he was on the ground with a sword on his neck, Scott giving him an intense glare until it softened into a normal gaze. He let's him go, putting the sword away and offering him a hand, which he gladly accepts.
"Wow, whats got under your skin?" Scott waves his hand dismissively. "Not much. And, besides, we're here for you, not me. What's up with you? What was the emergency?" Grian looks around, looking if someone was eavesdropping on them, and then tugs Scott towards the Mansion.
"Not here. Someone could listen to us." He drags Scott over to the Mansion and into his room. He chants something in Galactic [yes, Scott could understand it, but Gri doesn't know that.] And the room glows purple for a second. Then he sits down on the bed, patting next to him.
"Well, I mostly wanted to tell you how hermitopia is completed." Scott sits down next to him, but gives him a raised eyebrow, an unimpressed look that clearly showed that he was waiting for the rest of the talk. "And? What's the bigger reason for you coming here? Everything okay?" Grian sighs, rubbing his face.
"It's happening again, Scott." Scott felt a sudden dread, but ignored it."What's happening again?" Grian's headwings droop a little. "They're making another game." Grian glances at Scott, but instead of seeing a surprised expression, it was one of exasperation. "Knew something was gonna happen..." Scott mutters. "Any idea when?" Grian shrugs. "Not long. I tapped into the link [Scott gave him a wide eyed look] without them knowing, don't worry. It had something related to tasks in it. They're almost done with it."
Scott sighs, remembering that dream he had. It was definitely related to this. The watchers were starting to make their moves, and it wasn't looking good. Scott sees Grian looking nervous, as if wanting to ask something, but he decided against it. "What is it? Do you want something?"
Grian's face turns a little red, and Scott raises an eyebrow. "Well, um- I, uh- Can you please, um... preen my wings...?" Grian mutters towards the end, and Scott smiles softly. "Of course. Come here." He makes Grian sit on his lap, going through his wings, which earned him afew squawks and chirps from the Avian, his eyes drooping with sleepiness.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Scott was running his hand through Grian's hair, the Avian sleeping peacefully on his lap. He noticed a few scars on the Avian's back, at the wing joints, as well as a few at his neck. But he didn't question it. They are Grian's secrets. Who is he to prod into his privacy? He doesn't let people in on his dark side, why go into other's secret closets?

Scott suddenly remembers the dream again. Those damn beings really like to mess with his insecurities, huh? Making him think he's worthless. Doesn't matter anymore. He can control himself and his powers just fine. They can't control him or use him. No way is he gonna let anyone take his friends and family away from him. again.

Scott shifts a little, but is firmly held by the avian, making him helpless and unable to move away. Welp, there go today's duties, he thinks dryly, messaging Owen about his current predicament. Owen replies back with a thumbs up, telling him to rest since he's been working too much.

Scott lies back, thinking about... well, life. From the start. The time when he had not a single care in the world, happily adventuring around. Until he gets chosen and now he has powers, and how all powerful beings captured him, how he was tortured, used, drained of Power, until he escaped. He didn't have a grasp on his powers then. They were raw, and the Watchers were all in for using it.

But now... But now, he has control over it. He can use them without loosing control or hurting anyone, and he has the confidence to do the right thing, even if he has to sacrifice himself, he doesn't care. It's not like he can die. What's the worst that could happen? He'd loose his powers? Well, so be it. He can live without powers too.[But little did he know, it was going to be something much, much worse.]

Scott suddenly felt Grian shift, like he was curling in on himself, whimpering. Scott felt surprised by this, but he acted quickly by flowing his powers into Grian, making whatever the nightmare was into the galaxy, colourful and filled with stars. [Not his fault that's the one thing he can change dreams or nightmares into...]

Grian's tense body relaxed, his face contorting from fear to peaceful. Scott took that as a sign that his nightmare had subsided, and he let out a sigh of relief as he stopped flowing his power. Grian being one of Them, makes it a lot more exhausting as he uses more than normal people. He gets the sudden idea to dye Grian's hair red, and he smirks evilly. He takes out the red dye and gets to work, snapping a few pictures from his comm of him looking like that.

An if the Hermits and rulers laughed at Grian, well, that happened. And if Grian haunted Scott down and gave him a few jump scares, well, that also happened...
