Thousand Years

Summary:

There was nothing in the world to make Mikaela forget and stop loving the one person he truly cared about. Even when Yuuichirou was dead, Mikaela's love never faded, it stayed along with the guilt and depression from being unable to protect the one he loved.

Years of living in loneliness, in a world he was helping to rebuild and ruled, Mikaela earns a chance to do what he should've done many years ago. A chance to start all over again.

Chapter Text

A horrifying scream echoed through the break of dawn. The voice was powerful like a sonic boom, ear splitting. The ruins within the city in Japan had fallen to rubble onto the ground, most destroyed without a single trace. The figure in the sky, with long black wings stretching as far as possible with an unknown oozing substance, held a sword in hand. One eye black while the other having a red sclera and a bright green iris.

“Yuu-chan!” The blonde teenage vampires shouted at the top of his lungs, eyes terrified of the sight of Yuuichirou in such a state. The Seraph of the End was finally weaponized at the hands of traitorous allies. Mikaela felt his heart stop before red eyes snapped over at the man with glowing violet orbs, a smirk wide across his face. “WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? YOU BASTARD! TURN HIM BACK!”

“There’s no turning him back kid!” Guren laughed aloud, “With this we can destroy the JIDA! We can kill anyone in the way! This is the only way to survive! He asked for this!”

Mikaela scowled before running towards the figure heading towards the Japanese Imperial Demon Army. Yuuichirou was not reacting as he kept saying ‘sinners’ in a mantra. This gene, it was dangerous, this wasn’t Yuuichirou and this wasn’t what he would want. Lie after lie the raven-haired teen only agreed to be a guinea pig to save the world when it was only making matters worse. This was the final war, this was the end everything!

Yet even if the war over, there was no stopping the Seraph of the End. Those that tampered with the forbidden taboo must be killed, as it was the mission of the angels. Mikaela’s brows scrunched up together as he watched Yuuichirou slash his sword down upon a group of soldiers. Those weren’t the only ones he was after, Yuuichirou was out to kill the other Seraphs, the Seraphs that Kureto Hiiragi had drugged into submission to harness their power.

Without a chance of stopping Yuuichirou, Mikaela only had one option, an option he would regret. Mikaela felt his body begin to ache, head throbbing in agony as he screamed at the sensation he hasn’t felt in a long time. Two years into the wars and he had not yet revealed his secret. Yuuichirou promptly stopped his actions, head snapping back to stare at the vampire screaming as something was beginning to sprout from his shoulder blades. Wings…

Guren growled at the sight, “What the hell, he’s one too?! STOP!” he shouted, “We got to follow Mahiru’s plan!"

White feathered wings spread out gracefully as Mikaela tilted his head up to reveal black sclera eyes and those once vibrant blue eyes he possessed before turning into a vampire was glowing. “Yuu-chan…” He breathed out as he gripped his sword tightly, “Stop this… this isn’t you…”

“What are you talking about… we have to kill the sinners… they have messed with the Seraph of the End… they messed with us...” Yuuichirou voice echoed as he flew over to Mikaela slowly. “S-sinners must die… M-mi-mika… S-si-sinners…”

“If sinners must d-die… t-then you… m-must die…” Mikaela whispered as he quickly took flight, sword ready to drive into Yuuichirou’s chest.

“Tch, s-sinner… y-you’re a s-sinner” Yuuichirou stuttered as he quickly dodged the blade, quickly swinging his leg to hit Mikaela’s back. Mikaela regained balanced in snap and brought his sword up front for protection as Yuuichirou was flying directly at him at an immense speed, screaming in the process.

Swords began to clash with one another, sparks flying and falling over the onlookers. Weapons were ready to fire at the Black and White Seraph, but soldiers immediately retreated as the slashes from their swords hit anything in sight, causing buildings to fall and the ground to shake. Yuuichirou grabbed a hold of Mikaela’s throat and slammed him onto the ground, creating a huge creator followed by a blinding light.

Blood was pumping in their veins, minds clouded with a goal, a goal to stop each other. A goal where only one could win. Mikaela grasped Yuuichirou’s arm and flung him right off. Mikaela got up and sprinted towards Yuuichirou’s body, blue eyes set on the young teen’s chest. Yuuichirou quickly spread out his wings and flew upwards, yet Mikaela was on his tail. The black winged Seraph brows knitted together to see that Mikaela was gaining speed, he prepared himself to deflect Mikaela’s attack but…

Black blood spurted out from Yuuichirou’s mouth as his body began to tremble, his wings instantly disappear before Mikaela thrust his sword up to his heart. Mikaela’s eyes widen. “Y-yuu…chan…” Mikaela whispered as he held the teen by the waist so he wouldn’t fall to his death.

“…Mika…ela…” Yuuichirou’s voice quivered as he brought a shaking hand to the blonde Seraph’s cheek. He let out short gasps as pain began washing over his body like crashing waves. “Mi-mika…”

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

“MIKA!”

The blonde vampire’s eyes snapped wide open at the sound of his names. His red eyes blinked a couple of times to see the figure towering over him. It took a while to take a hold of the figure’s features in the darkness, but in the matter of seconds he was finally able to see well. Mikaela ran his hand through his hair sticking to his forehead from sweating, he had nightmare… A nightmare of…

Mikaela stood up and sighed, staring down at the pink haired woman. “Sorry… Must’ve passed out” the blonde vampire mumbled.

Krul let out a sigh and reached over to pinch the young male’s cheeks. “Geez, I almost had the soldiers go look for you…” she let her hand fall to her side, red eyes half-lidded. The tall young man closed his eyes and let the woman embraced. “It’s great to see you’re doing well”

Mikaela spoke in a monotone voice. “…Why wouldn’t I be?”

“Well it’s just that…” The pink haired woman parted away from the male and sighed, “Ever since the second apocalypse you’ve isolated yourself from this world where you are considered a god”

Mikaela rolled his eyes, “God or whatever I am does not matter. I am only here for the sake of Yuu-chan’s wish coming true… Krul, do you not remember?”

“Of course I do, rebuild the world to what it was before, well make it better at least” Krul placed a hand over her hips, “Two thousand years and yet we haven’t reached that goal, this world will just not return to its former glory”

The tall young man brought a hand up to his blond locks again and ran his fingers through it as he averted his gaze. It has been two thousand years of course, two thousand years he has been living without his childhood friend, without the love of his life. Every night was another haunting night for him with recurring dreams of the past. Dreams, well nightmares, that were memories on replay that refused to fade.

Another minute ticking was close to set off the bomb inside. Another day gone by was nothing worth remembering. Another week passing was another reason to remain in despair. Another year marked down in this torturous hell. Time has gone by fast for some while for others it went relatively slow for their liking. The world still has not recovered. The human race has barely grown by a few within two thousand years.

Ruins remained standing of the past before the two apocalypses happened that the world had endured. The first apocalypse that had happened killed off most of the human race whilst struggling to survive in a god-forsaken world. Just as Japan was close to recovery and gaining strength at every step they took in hopes of being the leading nation, their chance was taken away. The dreams that the Hiiragi family had longed for years was ripped away to prevent dictatorship.

As for the second apocalypse, it was thought to have been the final blow to destroy the earth. The last war between the vampires and the Japanese Imperial Demon Army was the cause. The traitors against ex-comrades, it was a battle of everything, a battle of who held the upper hand in the apocalyptic world. It was total chaos with humans vs. vampires…vs. angels. The war that ended it all, the battle between the two strongest Seraphs...

“Ferid has made a report on an occult village within a rural island attempting to tamper with the Seraph of the End once again,” Krul stated as she began walking towards a building. Mikaela obviously followed the vampire that had raised him, the one that kept him alive and well. They walked into a building and down a few corridors before reaching a door that led to a white room filled with all kinds of technology. “As of now Ferid should be returning with Crowley, Chess, and Horn. The occult village has been detected since the morning while you were asleep by the way so they went”

Mikaela let out a groan. “Humans never learn do they?” he walked ahead into the room filled with state of the art technology. Technology was at an advanced level rather than the technology humans had been given.

“They’re mere livestock, first progenitor” Krul followed Mikaela down the few steps where the smartest and high ranked humans and vampires worked at.

“Please do not call me first progenitor… if anything that is your title”

“But that is the title you earned… after you killed you know who” Krul mumbled.

“I do recall that, but I was only getting rid of those in my way of recreating this world into a better one” Mikaela looked up at the large screen within the room with different views of the world with cameras that monitored everyone. The vampire-seraph raised a brow as his eyes landed on one specific camera.

Krul took notice of his attention on that one specific camera and looked over to one of the scientist working in the room. “Zoom in on Shinjuku…” she ordered.

The old looking man nodded and put the camera on full screen, zooming in on what the woman had asked for. “Subject -11262004, current gene status is inactive. Everything seems to be currently stable. Has not shown any negative symptoms”

“Perfect. Activate satellite cameras, set all sights on the occult village. Be ready to report any abnormal statuses”

“Yes ma’am” the vampires and humans said in unison as the large screen revealed the island that was being under attack by the vampire soldiers led by nobles.  Mikaela watched as the battle went on between occultist and the soldiers, obviously his soldiers were winning.

Only a few are worthy to live in a world attempting to rebuild itself from the chaos that had been unleashed in greed. The information on the forbidden taboo was in the hands of the one with the power itself. Only the scientists within Sanguinem were able to gain access to the information and conduct experiments to commence a new form of protection obviously led by Mikaela. Ever since the second apocalypse, Krul was quite surprised Mikaela had demanded control over the vampires of Sanguinem and she did not hesitate to give him the position of King.

Sanguinem was no longer a city where humans were living as livestock, it was a home to both vampires and humans that were working close with the king. Most worked as biologists for humans, others were working on advancing technology. Some were engineers and the rest simply were working on the Seraph of the End. There was nothing to rid of the gene. It was to be contained away from anyone who may pose as a potential threat.

“Ma’am, Subject-10162004 is currently missing. All negative symptoms seem to have gone off and could prove dangerous!”

Mikaela raised a brow at the subject number. Subject-10162004, he’s never heard of that subject. He has seen them all, so he should know who Subject-10162004 was. Unless… “What are you hiding Krul Tepes” Mikaela scowled as he gazed over at the short vampire with cold eyes.

“Mika, Mika, Mika, there’s no need to get mad at Krul~” A sinister voice spoke up. Mikaela looked over his shoulder and rolled his eyes at the sight of Ferid. Krul turned to face the man as if she was getting ready to ask him why he returned. “The soldiers got everything handle, they no longer have any access to the Seraph of the End which Crowley is currently watching”

“Was Subject-10162004 a difficulty?”

“Surprisingly no! Poor child, having to deal with such abusive parents calling him a demon~”

‘My parents always called me a demon as a kid…’

The blonde vampire felt his heart stop for just one second, looking around to see where the voice was coming from, he must've be imagining things. Yet this voice was a familiar voice. Mikaela turned glared at Krul, “Who is Subject-10162004?” he asked in a demanding tone.

The two older vampires stared at the first progenitor, glanced at each other once before looking back at him. Krul stood in front of Mikaela and let out a soft sigh, “Mikaela, Subject-10162004, is a little test I planned out with Ferid, 10162004 is a very special Seraph…”

“UWAAAAAAAAH MONSTER!”

Everyone in the room quickly turned their attention to the door that was suddenly slammed open. Rushing in was a young little boy with tears rolling down his face, the only thing that seemed to be covering him was a white cloak. Mikaela felt as his breath was taken away. He pushed both Ferid and Krul aside when the child screamed in horror upon seeing them. The boy attempted to run out the room, but another vampire walked in, Crowley.

The child fell on his ass and cried, hiding in the long cloak, body shaking terribly. Mikaela walked up to the little child and sat down beside him. “Come on out… we won’t hurt you…” He softly cooed as he wrapped an arm gently over the small body. “…Well I won’t… I promise”

“No!” The child screamed as he tried to scoot away, but Mikaela held him in place. The boy’s cries grew louder as he fought Mikaela who was trying to remove the hood over his head. Once the hood was off, soft black locks fell over the child’s face, green tear-stained eyes met up with shocked red ones. “Go a-away… g-go away…”

Mikaela brought one gloved hand up to the child’s cheeks and frowned as the lightest touch made the boy flinch. “...Who would do such a thing to a lovely little boy like you?” He asked softly, as he brushed the boy’s bangs aside, still a bit stunned. The boy had dark bruises all over his face, a cut over his right cheek and over his nose, and he had burn scars on the side of his neck. “How old are you…”

“I-I… I-I…” The boy sniffled, bringing his small hands up to his eyes to wipe away the tears. “…five…”

“You’re such a big boy now aren’t ya?” Mikaela chuckled, flashing the kid a smile in attempts to make him feel comfortable.

The boy blushed faintly before nodding, a toothy grin spreading across his face. “I-I big!” he giggled as he reached to grab the vampire’s hair, “Ish soft!”

“Eeeh, but I think your hair is softer!” Mikaela ran his fingers carefully through the child’s hair, a smile still on his lips. The boy pouted before giggling once again. The giggle made Mikaela’s heart melt upon hearing it. “Am I a monster?”

“Uh-uh!”

“Well that’s good to know! What’s your name…?” Mikaela asked, his voice slowly falling silent. The child averted his gaze, his brows bunching up together as he looked like he was trying to remember. The blonde vampire glared at Krul and Ferid who were looking away. Once glancing down at the child he felt a light pinch on his cheek, so Mikaela took this chance to make the child feel ten times more better, “Ow! You are very strong!”

“Yay!” The boy’s smile grew, wide, but it seemed to be hurting him. There was pain in those big emerald eyes. “I is Yuu!”

“You’re me?” Mikaela jokingly asked.

“Nuuuh! Yuu! I is Yuu!” The child pouted, “Ish Yuu…i…chi…wou!”

Mikaela felt like he was frowning, the child’s cheerful mood seemed to have disappeared upon stating his name.  Small chubby hands reached up to the tall male, wiping away tears streaming down Mikaela’s face. Krul walked over to them, resting her hand over Mikaela’s shoulder. “Mika… this is Subject-10162004… the Black Seraph…”

“…10…16…2004… the day he was born” Mikaela whispered under his breath. Despite the guilt washing over him over that day thousand years ago, he smiled at the child that smiled back. “Yuu-chan…” he said as he lifted the child up gently onto his lap, holding him close…and once again… he heard the voice… A memory

‘If I die and if it’s possible, I would like to be born in this world again, well a better one… maybe we can make this world beautiful someday again together! What do you say Mika?’

Notes:

I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. I had this idea in my mind for quite sometime, but I've been busy with other fics, but then I decided yolo, might as well post it up and add it to my list of fics I'll be working on!

The song 'A Thousand Years' by Christina Perri, is what gave me the full inspiration to sit and type this up. I literally have like notes for this fic, like I'm prepared xD I just really wanted to make a fic where Mika is raising a reincarnated smol Yuu.

Mika is a full seraph, a very strong one, so he basically took over the world which will be explained later, let's just say he went on a rampage for now. He has full control of his power. Also the reason he's even experimenting with the Seraph Gene shall be explained, well it has basically been weaponized and one does not simply rid of the gene hehe.

So yeah, thanks for taking your time in reading this, it might be strange, but who gives a fuck, smol Yuu ftw.

Well see you next time when I update this!
