Work Text:
“Make a wish and skim it,” Yaz says, pressing the flat stone into the Doctor’s palm.
The Doctor offers a sad smile, then stands at the edge of the beach. Foam flecks her boots and the cuffs of her trousers. “I wish—”
“You can’t say it out loud!” Yaz admonishes. She hides her alarm. She can’t bear to hear the Doctor’s wishes, knowing she can’t make them come true.
“Can where I’m from,” the Doctor retorts. “I wish…”
Yaz scrambles to her feet. Don’t, Doctor. Please.
But the Doctor starts again. “I wish—”
Yaz stops the Doctor with a kiss.
