Work Text:
3 black suvs screached to a halt outside of a large hospital, the leading car coming to a stop just before the building entrance.
The first to throw them selves out of the car was Gaz and another soldier helping to carry out a writhing Soap. Right behind them was Price and Ghost from the front seats Price rounding the vehicle to help his limping lieutenant.
Entering the lobbie they started to yell out for a doctor. Soap was leaning heavily on the one soldier while Gaz tried to hold his abdomen closed. Any poor soul who might have been dozing off definitely where startled awake by the commotion the soldiers caused.
A doctor finally rushed over to them clearly panicked confusion evident on his face.
"My name is captain John Price. My Sergeant needs surgery ASAP." As if on que Soap let out a pained whine.
"I see that" the man raised is eyebrows looking to Soap and then back at Price.
"Doctor Russle go get a surgery room prepped. Right this way." He turned on his heel signalling to other staff to bring over a gurney they complied in record time.
Soap let out a deep scream has he was repositioned on the bed.
"Go look after him Gaz I'll get Simon sorted." Price nudged the sergeants elbow, he still had Ghosts arm wrapped around his shoulder. Who hadn't complained once about the contact or being ragdolled around as they dealt with soap.
"Yes cap." Gaz nodded as he turned to run after the collection of doctors.
"Sir?" The voice of a woman's came from beside them "My names Doctor Angela Torice if you'd follow me I can deal with that injury."
—
They followed her to an inpatient room a fair distance from the lobby, she instructed Ghost to sit down and began to look over some things as then got situated.
The room was on the larger side for your typical room, nurse's where running around setting up what looked like a second bed across the way.
"Can I ask what happened?" Doctor torrice looked between the two men.
"Gunfight. Well, explosion and then Gunfight." Price supplied "My Sergeants injuries where caused by the initial explosion. His was from extraction."
"Right." She began assessing his wounds, focuse staying on her work as she continued to talk. "Whats your name sir?"
"Confidential." Ghost answered roughly, it being the first thing he said since getting to the hospital.
"Right. Well, it looks like the bullet went clean through, just need stitches and wrapped up and you'll be good."
He grumbled a confirming response, he couldn't stand doctors, especially civvies. At least with on base doctors they weren't trying to be friends, and they where easier to deal with even when sleep deprived.
After toughing it through getting stitches and a quick bed swap from the steril one to a comfortable one Ghost was given some antibiotics and painkillers all while Price organised privacy and hushups with the hospital manager.
"Right, how're you feeling" Price returned to Ghosts side smacking a hand on the bedrail.
"Fine. anything on Johnny?" Hed live, but only if Soap made it.
"He'll be out of surgery shortly, apparently it went fine nothing to serious thanks to our not so legal driving."
Ghost chuckled. Good, he'd see his sergeant soon.
—
"Soon" wasn't soon enough.
It had taken another hour before they wheeled an unconscious Soap into the room with him. Turning his bed to put it across from Ghost's and hooking him up to a drip and heart monitor.
And then the next several hours were spent watching him sleep, watching his chest rise and fall as he breathed listening to the beeping of his steady heart rate.
Price had vanished to who knows where Gaz likely with him or gone to a hotel. The blinds to the hall where shut, the curtains to outside also. Ghost was left to count ceiling tiles until something exciting showed up.
He was dragged from the extremely interesting pamphlet of the hospital by the abrupt sniffle and movement from across the room. The man groaned as he shifted in his bed, legs pushing against the matrice.
Giving up he collapsed back into the bed turning his head a few times before finally opening his eyes to the world. As if realising his environment he pushed himself up a little using both hands to hold his weight. Meeting Ghosts eyes.
"L.T?" His voice came out horse.
"Mornin' " Ghost watched as Soap took in his environment "in a lot of pain?"
"Aye, quite a bit." He flopped back against his cushions.
Ghost slid out of bed to make his way over to Soaps bedside, slowly, painfully. Taking an Iv drip in one hand and checking it went to the right place, he pushed the dial releasing some of the contents down the tube.
They watched it quietly together comfortable in silence and after a minute Soap snapped his attention to Ghost. "Your injured."
"Nothing I can't handle." He said readjusting his balance on his uninjured leg "besides, should look at the state of yerself."
"Oi, I look great thank you very much."
"Uh huh." Ghost chuffed. He gave Soap a rough pat on the knee and hobbled back to his bed, sitting up on the edge of it.
"What time is it?" John asked.
"about three AM nearly. Landed here at 11 yesterday you where in surgery for about an hour and half and then slept the last few."
"Right, jeez time doesn't feel real." Soap chuckled "feel like I woke up from a nap, groggy but alert."
"I think that's the painkillers."
A few minutes later a nurse came in gave some brief greetings checked Soaps vitals, unhooked him from the machine and then left as quick as she appeared.
"I need a piss!" Soap blurted as soon as she was gone.
"Doc said your cleared for that kinda movement, need any help?"
"Nah I'll be good L.T." He began to push himself up, groaning and grunting
"Good cause I need to aswell." Ghost slid off the bed rounding it to head to the door, soap had managed to get himself up and out of his covers. "I'll be down the hall sergeant."
-
Soap watched as his lieutenant left the room leaving him in silence. He shuffled out of the bed, slipped on the slides left beside his bed and grabbed his IV making his way slowly to the bathroom.
After relieving himself he spent a second checking his appearance in the mirror, he was filthy but didnt have the energy to care instead remembering a time Gaz watched him doing this exact thing remarking how vain it was to care so much about ones appearance. What would he know tho the man was gorgeous he didn't need to check.
He also took a look at the stitches across his stomach, nasty looking but the lack of stress from doctors or Ghost seemed positive.
He did one more once over and left.
The first thing he noticed upon entering the room was how quiet it was. Not just the room, but the hallway. Maybe it had cleared out? He thought but something sat heavy and he couldn't help but be paranoid.
He made his way over to the door and cracked it open, hospitals were unnerving but empty ones where on another level. Not a soul could be heard, and looking around he couldn't see a trace of anyone being there.
Continuing out of the room Soap scooted the IV along side him, slippers russtilng against the floor, he could feel the cold air coming up the gown.
Inching towards the corner he peered around it just to see yet another soulless hallway, but this one had a broken light at the end of it.
"Okay~ fuck that." He whispered to himself.
As if he summond it with his words all the lights flickered on and off sink in quick succession before righting themselves and left at the end of the hall was a man, he was on the heavier side, sporting a similar gown to the Sergeants. Just standing there.
Maybe he was a lost patient, or just a wonderer, not everyone was bound to there rooms. John called out not to loud but just enough to carry "hello?"
The lights flickered again and now the man had started running towards him, flickering in and out of his eyesight. Soap could see his face, it looked rotted, grey and was contorted into a horrible grin. he reacted fast practically ripped his IV out sprinting back down the hall he came from, he chose to skip his room and went straight for the bathroom sign at the end of the hall.
He stumbled through the swing door into the men's bathroom with as much force as his body would allow, "GHOST!"
"Simon!"
The man himself just exiting one of the stalls "Johnny, what's the matter."
"Ghost."
"Yes? What's wrong- where's your IV?" Ghost came to a stop in front of Soap, arms coming up to hover by the others shoulders
"Doesn't matter," His breaths where coming out audible. He pointed behind himself with his right arm the left coming to wrap around himself as he leaned into Ghost. "G-ghost."
"Johnny I don't understand."
Soap took a couple harsh breaths, "there was a man, doon the other hall, he looked like a zombie or something- he began to run at me soo I ran and then I remembered where ye were and came here instead."
"Okay..." shit he didn't believe him, who would. "Did anyone else see?"
"Tha's the thing, everyone's gone."
Ghost looked at him then at the door then back at him with a stern questioning look. He pushed past the Sergeant, not harshly, too get to the door.
Opening it slightly to peek out at the offending hallway. As soap said, he found it empty, checking around the door to the other end he saw no sign of any ghost or zombie thing.
Turning back he shrugged "nothin' "
"What?! It was there I swear I saw it!"
Ghost sighed returning to the mans side "I wanna believe you I do, but you lost a lot of blood, pulled your IV out and your clearly tired."
John gaucked a little, he didn't experience hallucinations that thing was real. All his thoughts shift and change on his face and he could see Ghost preparing for whatever Soap was about to do.
"I know what I saw sir." He said gruffly. Heading towards the door again he took a turn looking out, checking both ways then he left.
"Wait, soap!" Ghost called after him. "How's about we head back to bed?"
"No." He said continuing on stopping at the next corner checking and then going again.
Ghost continued after him not interfering but staying close. If he had any sense about him he'd leave him alone on this or help.
The next turn was all the same, empty, ugly lights over head but as they took a step down it several doors swung open one after another, slamming against the walls with their speed. Both men jolted at the suddenness.
"Now do ye believe me sir?"
"Fucking hell." Ghost lowly grumbled. He sounded shocked.
Soap took a step forward and something emerged out of one of the rooms, a woman, dressed like it was the year 2000 she stared blankly at the door across the hall from herself. Shuffling slowly they got a good look at her, blood drenched down her face and into her pink tank top.
She disappeared into the next room as the lights flickered.
"We need to get the fuck out of here." Soap stated.
"We need to find the Captain and Gaz."
The entire building seemed to be entirely empty, not a patient or worker in site, bar the things they'd witnessed.
The creepy abandoned feeling was getting old fast and Ghost could sense his frustration growing.
Trailing behind Soap he could see the other begin to sway a little feet falling behind him. He carefully laid a hand on the others shoulder, hoping to seem sweet but failing when the other jolted with a gasp.
Oh well. "C'mon, there's a waiting area around this corner, we can sit down for a sec." He pushed leading him around the next bend.
When entering the area though they where met with a familier sight, back turned and standing stock still was the man Soap had described. In old stained garbs black tinted skin like a rotting corps. Ghost was glad it wasn't an open back dress.
Soaps gasp was what alerted him to their presence, his head turning to glare at them before the rest of him followed, the same horribly disfigured grin across his face.
For a moment he just stared but then he launched. Charging for them just like he had before.
For a second Ghost was stunned, Soap tugged on his arm rough, screaming something at him
"SIMON!" He snapped to attention, pushing Soap into a run heading down the opposite hall from the one they came from.
Soap stumbled, grasping at his stomach but Ghost didn't let him stop picking him up under the armpit to get him back on his feet. A glance behind them showed that their friend was still chasing.
Swirving hallways lead to a double door with windows and animal prints and plastered around the windows in colourfull print was CHILDRENS WARD.
-
Ghost running past him kind of distracted him, or maybe his body just gave into the pain but whichever it was he wasn't paying attention to his own footwork and suddenly he was on the floor. Vision swimming, the pain in his abdomen scorching.
He groaned trying to squirm away from the pain. Hands where tight on him prompting him upwards. Dragged onto his feet he stumbled as he was slammed through doors.
"In here." The gruff voice ordered, cramming into a smaller doorframe into a dark room. The door shut behind them. "You going to be alright?"
Soap shook his head, he felt nauseous, his legs felt like jelly and his vision, although in darkness, was still wobbly.
He heald his hand up to his stomach and felt something warm and sticky come back, shit that's no good.
"I don't see anything" Ghost whispered from above him, peering through the doors window. He gave Soap's shoulder a squeeze and wandered further into the room, Soap staying where he was, not sure if he tried to move he could get very far.
Ghost was rummaging through papers and counters wildly, Soap wasn't sure what he was looking for but he was pretty sure neither did Ghost.
"What are you looking for Simon?" He asked in a hushed voice
"Medical stuff." He said. Continuing to move stuff around in one of the cabinets.
He soon found what he was looking for and grabbed what he needed returning to soaps side, the other was leaning heavy against the door slumped legs doing barely anything to keep him upright.
Taking Soaps shoulders Ghost carefully lead him across the room and around the bed sitting him down in the guest chair. He leaned over him and flicked on the lamp giving the cutely decorated room a orange glow.
Soap's gown was stained red already and he knew he looked tired. He was also likely dehydrated from pulling his iv out.
Reaching around Soap's waist to untie the clothing he slid it off his shoulders and left it to sit around his hips. Soap giving him silent trust the entire time. He continued on to checking the wound, a few stitches had popped leaving it to steadily bleed, he couldn't do a re-stitch so he packed the wound and wrapped it up nice and tight.
"Thanks... Lt." He looked up the the lieutenant making eye contact. after the past couple years of constant work Soap knew every swirl in Ghosts eyes and what every glint meant, like their own language. And Ghost knew it too. They where both entirely unprepared for this.
"Whatevers happening we'll get through it." Ghost said, though Soap wasn't sure if it was for himself or Soap.
"Hmmhm" He nodded weekly, god he was getting more tired by the minute.
"First things first." Simons hand cupped the side of his jaw. "We need to get fluids in you."
Soap responded with an airy chuckle.
Ghost returned to the door with a few large strides, deathly quiet for the size of him. He had to be a size 12 shoe. Maybe Soap could get him a nice pair of shoes for his birthday. When was his birthday?
"When's yer birthday sir?"
The mans attention snapped to him at the odd question. Eyes portraying a range of confusion and humour. "Why d'you wanna know?"
"So I can buy you a present." Soap smiled proudly.
"You can buy me a present whenever you like, don't need to be my birthday." He turned back to peeking through a blind. "Besides, don't really bother with that shite."
"Don't bother!? Sir with all respect that's bullshit. You've gotta celebrate your birthday!"
Ghost shrugged, deeming it safe outside and returning his full attention. "It's never appealed to me. Even as a boy."
"No' even some cake and a sit in."
He shook his head.
"Cannae be having tha' sir. Leave it in my hands I can give ya the best damn birthday ever." He was looking up at the other man now stading over him, amusement clear in the mans eyes.
"Prick." Ghost muttered under his breath.
"Your not going to leave me alone on this are you." He sighed sitting down on the edge of the bed "May 18th 1991."
Soap took a second to process it "And here I thought you where an old man."
"My body sure thinks so. When's yours?" He tilted his head.
"Oohh Simon Riley, what happened to that icy heart o' yers." Ghost chuckled shoving his shoulder playfully. "September 4th 1996." Answered between his own laughter.
The fun air slowley died down and Ghost was straight back go business.
"Let's get the hell outta here then." He stood gruffly. Soap pushing to follow, but as he stood the world tilted on its axes, vision going grainy. A hand, not for the first time this night was on his shoulder. "I've got you Johnny."
He leaned into the other as his vision righted itself, realising he still felt slightly nauseated after all that.
With a brief "c'mon" they walked together for the door. Ghost cracked it open peering out into the hall. "Clear. Moving."
They carried on. Neither leading, just walking together so Ghost could catch Soap if anything happened.
Entering a new hallway Soap spotted a vending machine against the wall and was quick to make his way over. "Och finally!"
It was one of those black out ones where theyd list what theyd have but you couldn't see anything. Hand hovering over the button for the drink he wanted he realised a key error. "Have ye got change?" He asked.
"Uhhh" Ghost patted a few of his pockets, retrieving a sad selection of coins. "I've got 1 pound 10."
"It'll do." He gave his hand to retrieve the money. Hed prefer a lucazade but an offbrand juice bottle would have to do. The machine dinged clacked and then the sound of the item falling into the retrieval spot was heard. Second error of the night, bending down, he faltered for what to do.
Before anything could be done Ghost knelt down and opened the flap, but then also faltered. "What the fuck?"
"What?"
Ghost visibly swallowed clenching and unclenching his gloved hand and then reached back into the machine. Retreaving what looked to be a rotten arm of a baby.
With a violent gag Soaps stomach gave in, he leaned against the vending machine and hurled everything he had inside him down the side of it. Gasping and gagging.
He soon found his bearings with a few deep breaths. Another thud was heard within the machine and the two looked to eachother and back down at the flap. Ghost hesitantly knelt back down and opened the machine it was a purple ribena bottle. They let out a sigh simultaneously.
"That was one thirty." Soap pointed out.
"Looks like the ghosts took pity."
"Har har." He accepted the drink. He didn't have the stomach to drink this. They crossed the hall sitting in the waiting seats. A tense silence had formed between them. Soap fiddled with the bottle.
Minutes passed and Soap finally gave in popping the lid open and taking a sip, that stupid sipping sound these bottles always made filling the space between them.
There was a window at the end of the hall. Large. Blinds left open, he looked down hoping to see if the sky had started changing colours, but rather than see deep blue sky he saw piercing yellow eyes on a showed figure which blended in with its background. He was on his feet in an instant wound be damned, alerting Ghost.
Ghost followed his eyes towards the window. "What is it?"
"The eyes."
Soap blinked, Ghost squinted. "I don't see anything." They where gone.
"I swear-"
"I believe you. But I don't see anything."
He wished he was back in the kids hospital room.
—
They had managed to find the end of the kids ward with little fuss, part way through the cries or a babu could be heard, echoey and distant but near by at the same time. They shared a glance opting to leave it. entering into a less vibrant hallway they meandered for another while.
"This is getting tiring." Soap complained.
"Stay on your toes sergeant."
"I literally am, I lost my slippers when big man chanced us."
"Big man?" Ghost raised an eyebrow, "you can't name it. Its not a dog."
Soap turned to face him continuing to walk just backwards "Oh but can't we keep it, pleasseee" Ghosts face dropped eyes aimed behind him as he reached for soap "Si-?" He collided with something something soft yet solid. His breath haltered.
Looking over his shoulder, it was 'Big Man' he was worse upclose everything becoming slow motion he was grabbed then he was slammed against distant wall. Hard.
"Johnny!" Simon yelled.
He rolled on the floor, his shoulder felt wierd. He had hit his head and everything surface level hurt like a bitch. Looking over he watched Ghost attempt to fight Big Man off, he got shoved against another wall with a push but went straight back in only to receive more or the same treatment, violently being slammed down.
He couldn't get past him.
"Johnny run, get out of here."
He hated it but he didn't have to be told twice. Ghost could handle himself. He could handle himself. He could.
He stumbled up. And ran.
-
Ghost watched as Johnny ran away, he was holding his arm, likely hurt in the full body fling he just experienced. He was hurt at how quick the other left but in a situation like this where he definitely wasn't thinking clear headed he understood. And he was glad the stubborn scot listened for once.
He returned to the moment at hand, the violent guy. What had soap called him? 'Big man'? He dodged an attack looped around the guy in the hopes of disorientating him a bit and then made a break for it. In the opposite direction to Soap.
He'd find him.
-
Soap's pace slowed down not two halls away, breathing heavy, pain in his side a thousand times worse. He swallowed and kept moving. Coming to a double door, not sure of where he was not bothering to read signs he slid through them.
These halls where dark, noping out quick he turned to leave, he could find a different way. The doors where locked behind him.
"Shit." He tried then again "shitshitshit."
He faced the halls, its fine he could do this. That stayed his mantra as he went. Along with, for some reason, the beer song. His spychi was fighting tooth and nail tonight.
He shuffled further. 78 bottles of beer on the wall, 78 bottle of beer, nock one down pass it around 77 bottles of beer on the wall.
Further.
The dark hallways where horrible and he swore he saw stuff in the corners of his vision. Dark figures hiding just out of reach. His stomach was in his throat.
He came to yet another ward door. No. Not again.
He swivvled 180° however the way he came was darker then it should've been and standing in the shadows was that figure again, with its beedy yellow eyes.
Right then, he nodded to his thoughts, onwards it was.
He entered the doors, looking up he saw what area he was in. The psychiatric hospital. This. This was purposeful. Drive him mad then lead him to psychiatrics.
He knew exactly what was going to happen. He'd start making his way and then would be bombarded by text book loonies. He knew it. He'd watched enough horror to know.
So he began the trek.
Except screaming wailing banshees didn't appear but rather it was the doors. Half way down the hall the doors began to slam, loudly, off sink and violently. Like they where angry. Like he chose to be here.
Staying in the centre of the lane, he ran. He ran and he didn't stop running till he barged his way out.
He was in another hallway. How many hallways could a place have. Where were the stairs. This definitely isn't how the hospital looked entering, although he was very out of it.
He stood for a moment using the wall as a clutch and he heald his stomach with his bad arn. He was never returning to a hospital again. He could bleed out for all he cared him and hospital where done.
Something landed on his head, then again down his back, he looked up, dark oozing matter was dripping from the ceiling some landing onto his face.
"Shit" He exclaimed trying to wipe it off. The halls where all the same. Boring poorly lit halls. Giving up on ward doors to get him places he gave one regular door a try. And what would you know it opened up into a Chapel, clinical, but standard layout, rows of seats and an alter. All a Christian needs.
This had to be safe.
There was a table with a box of rosaries against one of the structural pillars. he couldn't help but take one. He mad his way up to the alter, rubbing the beads in his hands. Struggling to step up onto the stage he sat behind the stand. He closed his eyes and he did something he hadn't done in a very long time.
He prayed.
-
One thing Ghost noted. Okay, one of the many strange things. Was this place was designed like a maze. When they arrived he didn't manage to look at the place much but he knew it was modern. The entire area was. It wasn't a large hospital so why did it feel like he was running around The Labrinth.
He stumbled lightly, cursing his leg the pain was starting to catch up. He grunted pushing off the leg with vigour.
At this point he was opening every door he could, he'd taken a few turns that hopefully looped him around and he could find his sergeant before whatever ghouls where messing with them could first.
The next door he opened led into a small tighter hallway with two doors, one was open, a flickering light bouncing in the hall. The other was closed and was located at the direct end of the room.
He wandered in peering into the lit room. It was an office. A religious one, there was cardboard boxes and a desk and a wardrobe, crosses on several walls a bible sat closed on the desk.
With all of that sat a little alter. Candles surrounding it and crosses all over it. The candles where the rooms only light source but there where so many it lit the room and into the hall perfectly.
He walked past, heading for the door at the end of the hall. It opened up onto a chapel stage, he spotted them instantly a set of feet peaking out from under the podium.
Don't be a ghost.
With silent footsteps he carefully made his way over and peered down under the table.
"Johnny?"
The man in question had a necklace grasped in the hands with a deadly grip, his eyes closed mute prayers coming off his lips.
His knees creaked as be knelt down arm resting on the leg squated infront of him. His wound stretched uncomfortably but he payed it no mind.
Carefully he placed his hand on the sergeants white knuckled ones, lowering them from his forehead. The other man's eyes fluttered open and he peered over at Ghost. He quickly slid his balaclava off to give Soap something more human to look at.
"L.T." his voice was quiet, tired.
"Didn't realise you where a religious man Soap." Ghost tried to keep it light.
Soap looked to him and then back to the beads in his hands "haven't been in a very long time. I suppose." He said somberly.
Ghost nodded not pushing any further for tonight "Ready to move?"
"Give me a minute."
Ghost waited, he waited till soap was physically ready. He waited till he was mentally ready. Soap took a deep breath, he scootched his waybout from under the table and with Ghosts help stood to his feet.
They set off for what was hopefully the final time. Soap kept the beads in an iron grip to his chest.
Ghost kept trying doors, the spooks behind the doors had worn off on him at this stage the only thing keeping him on edge was the aggressive one.
"Simon?" Soap called his name.
"Yeah?"
"Do you recognise this place?" He asked looking around.
Ghost glanced around taking in the appearance of the hallway. "What the fuck." It was the ward they had originally been placed in, the place there night had started. "That door should take us to our wards lobby."
"Yeah. And down that way should be our room" soap pointed down the T junction. "What If Big man's back."
"We can handle him." Ghost said assuredly
They inched their way nearer to the double doors windows shrouded in darkness. As they got closer the dull lights began to flicker and freak out.
"Ghost fuck I think that means he's back." Soap whisper yelled to the lieutenant.
Ghost didn't answer pushing the door open. Instantly they where hit by a bright light and sounds that in any other circumstances would mean stress. It was a busy hallway filled with very much alive people.
Soap had to take a second to glance from the bright hospital down into the gloomy grungy one they had been stuck in for hours. He was interrupted when Ghost nudged him forwards Into the lobby.
He spotter a familier face through an office window. Price had a landlines to his ear with a stressed expression. Gaz was with him sorting through papers.
They where quick to enter, interrupting whatever the other two where upto. Not that they cared anymore.
Prices head shot up at the sound of the door opening, Gaz's own gaze following.
"Soap?" Gaz looked confused
"What are you lads doing out of bed?" The captain asked.
Soap looked to Ghost for answers who seemed to be doing the same. A moment of silent communication and then they where laughing. A bit on the hysterical side.
Soap whiped his eyes sobering "never thought I'd miss your constant fathering."
"It's not fathering." The man protested. It only set Soap off again. "Son is that blood?"
He squacked a bit, forgetting the state of himself
"It's a long story." Ghost interjected.
Price scowled crossing his arms, "I have time. But first I'm calling a doctor in here."
"Nononono." Soap pleaded "its not necessary!"
Ghosts hand was on his shoulder "it kind of is Johnny."
Soap, outnumbered and depleted didn't argue further. "Fine. But we are not going back to that room unless you get someone in to cleanse the shit out of it." Ghost snorted at that.
They got relocated, the damage done to Soap's stomach was bad but fixable and be got hooked up to a new drip and put on some strong pain meds along with antibiotics. It basically put the asshole out of commission and left Ghost alone to explain.
"How much do you believe in the the supernatural Sir?" He started off straight.
Price thought for a moment. "I'd need to be given more proof before I started to believe but there very well might be unexplainable shit out there I'll never comprehend."
"Well, we ended up in what I can only really describe as a pocket universe sort of. Some real supernatural Strangerthings shit."
"What? The fuck does that mean Simon."
Ghost took a deep breath. "Basically after we where left alone for the night it was like we where transported. We got chased and attacked by ghosts, real ghosts."
"Some fucking strong prick really didn't like us and physically attacked us, most just harrased us. We barely held our own against him."
Price took it all in. "How'd you get out?"
"I think they where bored of us." He humoured "We ended up where we started and went through a door that lead us out."
Price stayed silent. Fiddling with his hands in his lap.
"Do you even believe me?"
"Course I do Simon. But at the same time it looks like hysteria, I don't want the doctors to think you guys just freaked out." He did not sound convincing.
Ghost scoffed "c'mon Price, you don't believe me at all don't patronising me."
"How can I?!" Price didn't look angry his eyebrows furrowed in a concerned glare "Simon your talking about ghosts and wierd shadow worlds"
Ghost sighed in resignation. Of course he sounded nuts, he had no idea how they had gotten there or proof that it even existed.. or why it chose them.
Price saw his contemplating "Look... Simon, I don't think i can believe you. But a fresh eval is coming up, I'm gonna ask you both to go to it anyways, and if your clear we can pretend it never happened.
Never happened, was he so quick to right it off. Where they so important to the military he could just leave something so crazy in the past. He was a dead man he supposed. That was easy for them.
He admitted defeat "Fine. Like it never happened."
Price made a glad sound landing a rough hand on the lieutenants shoulder "Good. I'll leave you to rest Ghost. You'll be brought home soon." He had pulled out a cigar keeping it in between fingers as he sauntered to the door. "Goodnight Ghost."
The door clicked shut.
