You peaked your head around the corner, making sure he was actually there before walking in, now having visual confirmation, you took a deep breath, mentality psyching yourself up.
You turned the corner, and lightly cleared your throat before speaking.
“Excuse me, Kokushibo, I’m sorry to bother you but, Douma said he’s missing his updog, we’ve looked everywhere for it.. have you happened see it anywhere?.” You asked, with as straight a face as you could possibly muster at this moment.
He stared back at you blankly from across the room, watching your heart hammering and the odd expression on your face, he merely assumes it’s because of his rank. Before your question finally registers in his mind, half of it at least.
“Douma.. he has lost something in the castle?.” He asked, flatly.
You coughed lightly “Y-yes, he..-he has lost his updog, we cannot find it.” You repeated, You were trying so hard to contain yourself and not ruin everything.
He sat in silence for a long moment, he looked the most confused he’d ever been in his almost five-hundred years of life, it was the most emotion you’d ever seen from him.
Finally, his head shifted ever so slightly to the side..
“What is… updog?.”
Finally you cracked, erupting into an uncontrollable fit of giggles, bent in half hugging your stomach, before you turned tail and ran out of the room.
Your footsteps and laughter continued down the hall until he heard you yell—
“Douma!!, I got him to say it! I got him to say it!, I get to kick your head off now!!!.”
He was left to sit alone with his thoughts for a short moment, until Douma’s head landed right in front of his door, smiling a bit too dreamily for a headless man.
