Names were important in the Isle of the Lost. Names could get you killed. Names could help you survive. Some names were feared; Maleficent, Cruella, Madame Mim. Some names were more feared. Harriet Hook.
Captain Harriet Hook of Balck Balde was perhaps the most untouchable person. No one dared to even look her way. Most villains feared her. And the ones who were stupid enough not to, were dead.
It was simple really, she had the territory covering half of the docks. It wasn't the largest, no, but she didn't need that. She had hands everywhere. Eyes everywhere. That's what made her dangerous. She knew everything. See, she made alliances with most of the territories. Lost Revenge, SOLS, she even had some peace pact with the Wyverns most of the time. She had men in every territory.
She had her brother in the Lost Revenge. Not that Harry would ever betray his captain but there was a mutual understanding between her and Uma that if there was a problem concerning Harriet, Harry (or CJ) was allowed to carry information.
She had Anthony Tremaine in the SOLS. The unofficial messenger of her crew. It was more of a problem to have him there than Harry in the Lost Revenge. The SOLS, or Shelter of the Lost Souls where territory took its name form, was not as friendly with Harriet as anyone else. James Hearts, the leader, had a complicated relationship and an undying mistrust towards her. This however didn't stop him from allying with her when it came to it. Because however much he doesn't trust her with personal matters, Kevin Hearts is more than aware of the fact that Harriet Hook could handle the villains and children of the isle if necessary. In fact, she did. When the SOLS wasn't formed yet. When all of the villains were alive.
But those times were long gone. Now there were certain shelters in almost every territory, SOLS being the biggest. The leaders of the territories patrol almost every day in the streets. There was cooperation when it came to the kids. Because it was as hard to survive in the isle as it is, adding the abuse and violence of villains was simply too much. So they helped each other.
If Harriet had a conflict in her territory that was too dangerous for kids to be around, the children knew they could crash at Lost Revenge or the SOLS for a couple of nights. The same went for the Lost Revenge. In return, SOLS would get a better side of the shipments from Auradon compared to the other territories. The Wyverns had complete control over the security at Dragon Hall, which considering the influence Mal had in the North was very fortunate. Mal and Uma would take a break from their unending rivalry the second there was a common threat towards any children. It took time but they would even get the New Pride, a territory of animals turned to humans, led by Scar's daughter, to patrol now and then as well as the Huns.
Things changed. Harriet was not alone anymore. Harriet had an entire island to help her worry about the children.
That however didn't decrease the amount of problems or how much she worried about them. She was the Captain Hook of the isle. She was the reason why nobody associated that name with her father anymore. And no matter how much help she would get, or how much support she had, she couldn't rest until she knew every single child was safe and out of the isle. Not that it would ever happen. In the nineteen years of the existence of this prison island, nobody could manage to leave. And they tried. Maleficent tired. Ursula tried. Hades tried. Hell, even Yen Sid tried. Because Harriet was aware of the fact that Yen Sid didn't come to the isle on his own accord to 'teach villains to live without magic'. That was utter bullshit.
So at the end of the day, Harriet was alone. She had lost many, Kingsley Hearts (although he wasn't dead), Milah Hook (she in fact was dead) and many more…
Perhaps there were only two people in the whole world who understood her. Sammy. and Murph. They were the only ones to stick with her despite everything. The term childhood friends was not enough to describe the other two. Because despite what everyone else might think, Harriet was too a child and made so many mistakes. She fucked up too many times that she didn't know how she held the power she has to this day.
But even on the worst days, no, especially in the worst days, Sammy and Murph were there. They were the only permanent truth in the life of the great Harriet Hook. Her siblings left, her father left, and the only person he fell in love with left. But Sammy and Murph were there and Harriet knew, even in the worst days, even with all the voices in her head telling her otherwise, she knew that the two people would never leave. They were the ones to be always there. They were the ones anyone would call if they knew Harriet was not okay.
Perhaps that was the reason why Harry left. Because he knew Sammy and Murph would never leave. Perhaps that was the reason why they were the only people other than herself in this whole wild world, this stupid island with a barrier around it, CJ genuinely listened.
Harriet remembered their childhoods, they were inseparable. And even now, when she looks at them, Murph listening to the orders from Josie about the next shipment from Auradon with little Xander on his hip, and Sammy trying to get CJ off of the crow's nest, Harriet knows that whatever happened they would be together.
