Inspired by Pipermca's Fog. This is from my personal photo album, and is a real photo I took in September 2023 while on a boat tour of Death's Door Passage in Door County, Wisconsin. There are over 200 shipwrecks in Door County, and 13 lighthouses, more of both categories than in any other county in the USA. I was very grateful for the modern navigation and communication aboard our tiny tour boat. The photo doesn't do the fog justice - there is less than 200 yards visibility in this photo, and the water and air are eerily calm. During the tour, we had to navigate around a large underwater shoal that would have grounded the boat. A sailing ship trying to make it through this narrow passage with multiple underwater dangers with only compass, clock and sextant would have found this fog disquieting.
