Work Text:

"Just what on earth are these, Rosemary? Why do they look like Chris and I?"

"That's because they're supposed to be Chris and you! They're Tsums of you two!" Announced Rose with a beaming smile as if it was completely obvious.

Wesker looked at Chris in confusion, hoping he'd have a clue as to why the small versions of them were made and if the word 'Tsum' meant anything to him. But Chris just looked right back at him with the same amount of confusion.

The pair looked back at the small squishy looking rectangular things on either of Rose's outstretched palms, the, as Rose put it, 'Tsums' of them.

On her left palm sat a Tsum of Wesker dressed all in black fit with silver detailing for his suit, shades on his face and his blond hairstyle was made nicely with two lighter blond strands on the right side of the hair for extra detail. The Tsum even had a little felt Samurai Edge on its left side in a felt holster! To top it off, the small palm-sized Wesker had a scowl on its face, much like the scowl the real Wesker seemed to have plastered on his face all the time.

On Rose's right palm sat the Tsum of Chris in his green outfit from the S.T.A.R.S. era. It even had fluffy tuffs of brown on the top of its head to represent the brown-coloured hair he had back in those days. Unlike the Wesker Tsum with its scowl, the little Chris had a determined look with vibrant blue sewn on eyes.

It wasn't hard to see that the teen had put a lot of effort into the things and that she was extremely proud of her work. Both Wesker and Chris were happy that she was happy but they just couldn't understand the purpose of them.

Out of the two, Chris decided to ask the burning question, "Rose." He began with a small smile, slowly reaching down to pick up the mini version of his younger self. "These are very nice, but... Why did you make them?"

A twinkle appeared in the young girl's eyes and she quickly handed the Wesker Tsum to Chris, before rushing off into the hallway of the home with a hurried. "Gimme a sec."

In all her excitement, Rose had forgotten to mention the competition at school. She'd just rushed home, placed her bag down and barged into the living room armed with a Tsum on each palm which she offered to her mentors, startling them both from their conversation on the sofa with an excited cry of, "what do you guys think of these?!"

In less than ten seconds, Rose had rushed back into the living room with a small golden trophy cup with a white heart on the front and a plaque at the base of the stand with an engraving that read:

'ROSEMARY WINTERS
FIRST PLACE IN THE THEME OF LOVE COMPETITION 2037'

Wesker raised a brow behind his shades and folded his arms as he drawled, "theme of love competition?"

Clearing her throat, Rose took a deep breath, then explained to the pair.

"Nearly every year at my college, we have a competition to see who can come up with the most creative idea for a certain theme. Last year's theme was holidays, but I couldn't come up with anything creative for that, so I obviously didn't win. But this year's theme was on romantic love because the headmaster had gotten married last year so he thought it'd be a nice topic for this years theme.

At first I didn't know what to make, and so I started looking around for inspiration on what to make, but whatever I had planned to do, it turned out that there was always someone else set about doing it. I was honestly going to give up.

But then I thought hard about the theme, and what I associated with it rather than what everyone else did. That's when you two lovebirds came to mind! After some more thinking, I settled on making these tiny plushies. They were easy to make because I'm good at sewing and stuff because of auntie Claire.

Wesker, you were the easiest to make and Chris, I decided to make you in your S.T.A.R.S. uniform because I didn't have enough black felt left over to make your 'Alpha' outfit. I only had enough black felt for the hands and feet of your Tsum.

Anyway, my work stood out, especially because of my decision to make you two, the most unique couple out of everyone else's couples like the obvious Romeo and Juliet etcetera. In the words of the headmaster, he thought it was ‘very heartwarming that in my eyes, the definition of love was what you two have.’"

Bashfully, Rose continued with a quick. "Look, I know that winning this silly little competition isn't anything big, but it's the first time I've actually won something. It felt so good to stand up there, especially when people doubted me. I just felt... So happy. Even if what I've done is only small."

To the couple, what she had accomplished was definitely something big. Poor Rose was relentlessly bullied due to her 'gift' and it affected her grades. So seeing her putting her mind to something and coming out on top was a big deal.

Wesker, with pride in his voice, said. "Rosemary, what you've accomplished is most certainly praiseworthy, and you have every right to be proud. Keep up the good work." Adding on to his praise, Chris said, "you make us proud, Rosebud. Don't let anyone or anything get you down anymore because you're a talented girl, a rising star who should keep on shining."

Beaming brightly at the two, she croaked a quiet, "thank you. Both of you." Then she turned, wiping at her eyes as she walked out of the living room with a quiet, "I'm just going to change out of my uniform."

When she left the room, Chris glanced down at the Tsums in his hands, repeating Rose's earlier statement." The most unique couple, huh?" He mused.

Wesker suddenly addressed Chris with a solemn, "I hear disbelief in your tone." He paused, letting the accusing words hang in the air, then faced Chris, "is it so hard to believe that we're probably the most unique couple in existence, dearheart? You and I who went to such great lengths to be by one another's side? Chris, need I remind you that I came back from the dead for you in 1998? And on Rockfort Island, when my mind was clogged with so much overwhelming power that I couldn't think straight and was just about ready to kill anyone I came across, I didn't harm you because what I felt was stronger than the power in my head and it grounded me?

And you, my dear, you travelled the globe for months on end, hunting me down just to see me for a few mere minutes? Remember how whenever you found me, you always went against your orders, orders that, if completed, would have made you become that captain you always wanted to be much earlier? You threw that all away every time we met and instead took me in your arms, whispered words of affection in my ear and let me go, telling your fellows that I escaped. When I was eventually captured, you rushed to my side, saying that you'd take me into your custody despite the hateful things your friends and even your precious sister said about me."

A chuckle escaped Wesker as he saw recognition cross Chris' face. Shaking his head slowly, Wesker purred. "There is nobody else quite like us, Chris. Truly."

Chris rolled his eyes with a grin, retorting with a playful, "since when did you become so sappy?"

"I'm not being sappy." Deadpanned Wesker. "I'm being serious, Chris."

From behind the black glass of his shades, Chris could feel those eyes of his lover staring firmly at him. "Now dearheart," Reaching over to gently grasp Chris' right wrist, Wesker cockily dragged out, "this is being sappy."

Without another word, Wesker pushed Chris' wrist forward so that his hands met in the middle of his lap. That's when Chris realized that Wesker had moved his hand to meet up with his other hand so that the faces of the little Tsums' of themselves were mushed together so they looked like they were... kissing.

Flushing a light pink, Chris began to laugh a genuine laugh, and it had to have been the happiest laugh Wesker had heard in a while. It made Wesker smile, then the smile turned into a chuckle before it became a laugh as loud as his loves'.

Unbeknownst to the two, Rose had returned and was watching the two laugh like schoolboys who had just told one another a rude joke in class.

'And they wonder why I picked them for the theme of the year.' Mused Rose to herself as the two continued to joke around with Chris now doing impersonations of Wesker with Tsum Wesker and in retaliation Wesker was saying something about a 'Tsum sized boulder for his dear Tsum sized rock puncher.'

Whatever the heck that was all about, Rose had no idea.
