Notes:

Finally I was able to finish this story. I actually started writing this like 7 months ago but I just kept losing my motivation.

But it's here now and I hope you'll like it :) This also another edition of my asexual ass trying (and failing) to write kissing scenes...

Anyways, if u see any grammatical error...no u didn't :P

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Rain was sitting on the second to last step of the staircase, still hidden from sight by the wall next to him. He leant forward to peek past the wall to look towards the living room.

There, on the couch, was his older brother Sun but Rain quickly moved his gaze from him to the other male, Phayu. He had been Sun’s best friend for as long as Rain could remember and by now had become an honorary older brother to Rain. Or at least that’s what Rain’s parents liked to call him. Even his name fit right in with their family; sun, storm and rain.

Rain, however, hated when his parents would call Phayu his older brother; that role was purely for Sun, his actual brother. Sure, Phayu was the kindest and most amazing person to exist and he would surely be the most attentive and caring older brother but to Rain, Phayu was also the person he had been in love with since he was 13.

Obviously Rain never told Phayu about his feelings.

Why?

First of all, he was sure that Phayu saw him as his brother. He had never at least objected when Rain’s parents had called him that. But more importantly, Phayu had been 18-years-old when Rain had realized his feelings and Rain didn’t think Phayu would have feelings for a 13-year-old; someone he would even occasionally call a ‘kid’.

Now Rain was 18, a month shy of 19, and had just been confirmed to have been accepted to his university of choice, specifically, in the faculty of architecture. It was all thanks to Phayu as well. He was a recent graduate from said faculty and when Rain had expressed interest in applying to the same school and faculty, he had offered to tutor Rain.

And even though Phayu had been a strict teacher, the tutor sessions quickly became the best thing in Rain’s life as he got to spend hours of uninterrupted time with his crush without his older brother’s presence.

Hidden from sight by the wall, Rain stared at Phayu who was talking to Sun very animatedly about something Rain could not hear. He was waving his hands around while talking and it must have been something funny as Sun was bent in half laughing, drowning out Phayu’s voice. Rain just kept staring at his crush and he could almost hear his own heartbeat quickening when Phayu broke into fits of laughter as well. That sound was the most wondrous thing Rain had ever heard and he could feel himself smiling softly.

“Rain?” Phayu had looked towards the staircase and Rain realized he was caught staring.

He quickly leant back, now hidden from view again, and placed his hand on top of his racing heart. Rain stayed quiet while desperately trying to calm down his heart. But when he heard footsteps coming closer towards the stairs, he leapt up to run back into his room but was stopped by a hand grabbing him by his shoulder. Rain prayed to whatever god was out there that the person was Sun but when he turned around he nearly jumped as he came face to face with Phayu. “Phi!” Rain’s voice came out unnaturally high-pitched.

“Rain, everything okay? Your face is red,” Phayu asked, looking concerned.

“I’m okay!” Rain’s voice still came out high-pitched and Phayu didn’t seem convinced.

“I’m okay phi,” Rain repeated his words and this time he was finally able to get his voice back to normal.

Phayu still didn’t seem all that convinced but to Rain’s relief he just shook his head. “Nevermind, how’re you doing? It’s been a while since we last saw each other. Got any word back from the university yet?” Phayu gave Rain a soft smile and Rain felt his face getting warmer.

“I’m good. Actually I’m doing better than good. I just got an email from the university telling me that I’ve been accepted!” Rain smiled widely.

Phayu’s smile widened at Rain’s words. “Really? Good job, I knew you could do it!”

“It’s all thanks to you phi. I wouldn’t have been able to do so well in the exam without your tutoring!” Rain was still smiling. “You’re actually the first one to know.” Rain added sheepishly.

“I am? Well why don’t you join us and you can tell Sun the news as well?” Phayu nodded towards the living room.

“You sure?”

“Of course! Come on!” Phayu said and dragged Rain by his wrist to the living room.

“Rain? Why were you hiding over there?” Sun turned to Rain as he and Phayu entered.

“I wasn’t hiding,” Rain muttered to which Sun raised his eyebrow, clearly not believing him.

“Anyways… Rain here has some news apparently,” Phayu said as he gestured for Rain to sit on the couch.

“Oh? What is it?” Sun asked and turned to look at Rain.

“I just got an email telling me I got accepted to study architecture!” Rain said excitedly, his earlier embarrassment over getting caught had disappeared.

“That’s great Rain! Phi is so proud of you!” Sun exclaimed and pulled Rain into a tight hug.

“It’s all thanks to P’Phayu. He helped me so much by tutoring me,” Rain said as Sun released him from the hug.

“Don’t dismiss your talent, Rain. You knew most of the stuff without me already, I just helped you revise everything,” Phayu said with a soft smile and Rain could feel the tips of his ears turning red.

“That was all I had to say. Bye!” Rain said and quickly ran to his room.

Too much. That smile was too much.

Few days later, Rain was hanging out with Sky at his new apartment. The two of them had been playing some games in the living room and were now just chatting.

“I don’t know what to do Sky!” Rain whined.

“What has your P’Phayu done this time?” Sky asked while rolling his eyes.

“He smiled at me,” Rain mumbled as he hid his face in his hands.

Rain could hear Sky letting out a loud sigh. “Rain, this isn’t the first time he has smiled at you.”

“I know. But everytime he does something like that I just want to blurt out my feelings!” Rain continued to whine.

“Then do it,” Sky shrugged.

“No way! He doesn’t see me like that,” Rain groaned and threw himself face down on the couch.

“How do you know that?”

“Why would he like me? I mean he never acted in a way that could mean he likes me. Unlike me… I’m a blushing and a stuttering mess any time we’re together. I mean you’d think I’d be better at hiding it by now after spending so much time just the two of us. But no! I just got worse,” Rain grumbled, face still buried in one of the throw pillows.

“You could test him,” Sky says.

“What?” Rain asked as he turned his head to look at Sky.

“Do something vaguely flirty or dress in a revealing outfit and see how he reacts. If he likes you he’ll react in some way, if he doesn’t, then no harm done and you can start working towards moving on,” Sky explained.

“You think that’d work?” Rain was skeptical but truthfully he’d take any advice by this point.

“Why not? You see people doing that all the time in TV shows.” Sky shrugged.

“So what should I do exactly?” Rain asked as he sat up in order to face Sky properly.

“What would be the easiest to dismiss as normal for you? So that P’Phayu wouldn’t get suspicious.”

“I guess…dress in revealing clothing. I wear short shorts and crop tops when I’m alone at the house.”

“So do that.”

“There’s one problem though,” Rain sounded defeated when it dawned on him.

“What is it? This is the perfect plan,” Sky asked, looking confused.

“How am I going to get P’Phayu alone at the house? He’s only there when Sun is and I’m not doing this in front of him. My parents are traveling right now so this would be the perfect time to do this,” Rain explained.

Sky hummed, thinking. “You could ask for another tutoring session.”

“Why would I do that? I have nothing to study for.” Rain was confused.

“You got your exam results back, right?” Sky asked and Rain nodded.

“So you could ask him to explain something you got wrong in the exam because you don’t understand what you did wrong”

“But I understand everything. Even the ones I got wrong.” Rain looks still confused.

“But P’Phayu doesn’t know that,” Sky said with a smirk and Rain smiled in return.

The next morning, Rain texted Phayu to ask for his help.

Success! Now Rain just had to wait 2 days to execute his plan.

~

The days went by quickly and soon it was Saturday morning. Rain had gotten up early to take a shower and he was now just sitting in his room waiting for Phayu to show up. He was dressed in a tight white cropped t-shirt and a pair of baby blue shorts that ended right below his ass along with fluffy white socks. Rain had gone through the exam the day before to choose a few questions that were difficult enough for Phayu to believe he didn’t understand them.

At exactly 12, the doorbell rang and Rain ran as fast as he could downstairs to open the door. He bumped into the walls a few times, sliding on the floor because of his socks, but he couldn’t care less.

Rain almost yanked the door open. “Phi! Hi!” Rain looked at Phayu and had to immediately look away as the man was dressed in a tight black t-shirt and jeans that hugged his legs nicely.

Too hot!!!

“Hi,” Phayu responded but he sounded distracted. Rain looked back up just in time to see Phayu averting his gaze.

Oh?

“Come in phi,” Rain said, his usual excitedness coming back to his voice.

Rain stepped aside to let Phayu walk in and closed the door behind him.

“I have my stuff in my room, we can go over the exam there,” Rain said as he headed upstairs, hearing Phayu following him.

As the two of them climbed up the stairs Rain could swear he heard Phayu gasp softly. Rain couldn’t help but to smile, it looked like his plan was working.

“Okay phi. I have two questions I needed help with really, but I think it would still be helpful to go over the entire exam… Unless you have somewhere else to be,” Rain said as he sat down on his bed.

“We can go over the entire exam, I have a day off today,” Phayu responded as he pulled a chair over to the bed and sat down.

“Okay phi!” Rain gave Phayu the brightest smile he could make look natural and he saw Phayu avert his gaze once again.

The two of them spent the next hour going over the questions and if Rain had to be honest it was actually really helpful. He was able to explain some of his thought processes with the questions to Phayu who’d then explain what he understood wrong. So in the end, his plan to see if Phayu had feelings for him, turned into a really good tutoring session as well.

Rain had been taking some notes about what Phayu was explaining but got distracted for a moment and he ended up dropping the pen. It rolled under the bed and Rain groaned. Without giving it a second thought, Rain got on all fours and reached under the bed to get the pen.

As he did it though, he could hear Phayu let out an audible gasp which he tried to mask as a cough. At first, Rain was confused why Phayu would react like that but then he remembered what he was wearing. He had basically exposed his ass to Phayu!

He quickly got out from underneath his bed and sat back on his heels. He could feel his ears burning and they were most likely a vivid shade of red. But as he looked towards Phayu, the man wasn’t looking at him but as Rain observed him longer, he could see that the tips of Phayu’s ears were red as well.

Rain knew he could be dumb at times but even he wasn’t dumb enough to still think Phayu saw him as a brother.

Originally Rain’s plan to figure out Phayu’s feelings had 3 phases:

  1. Wear revealing clothing and see if Phayu reacts.
  2. Tell Phayu about a cute guy he met to see if he got jealous. (This also had a second reason behind it as Rain had never actually told anyone he was into men as well)
  3. Confess his feelings to Phayu and hope he was right about Phayu’s feelings.

But at that moment Rain decided to forgo phase 2 of his plan and move straight onto phase 3.

Rain stood up and sat back down on the bed facing Phayu and luckily the chair Phayu was sitting on had wheels, so Rain could just pull it towards himself. Phayu turned to look at Rain with curiosity in his eyes and in that moment Rain’s brain short-circuited thus causing Rain to forget the next step of his plan. So, instead of following phase 3 of his original plan, which was to confess his feelings to Phayu, Rain did the dumbest thing possible; he leant forward and kissed Phayu.

It was a short kiss, a peck really, but the moment their lips met Rain realized what he had done. He backed away from Phayu, or he tried to, but he was stopped by Phayu’s hand coming to rest on the back of his neck. The older male pulled Rain back towards him and pressed their lips together again.

The second kiss was over before Rain could properly comprehend what was happening. The two of them stared at each other in silence, all that could be heard was their irregular breathing.

“Rain…I…” Phayu started but before he could continue, Rain spoke.

“Phi I like you!” Phayu stared at Rain with wide eyes.

The two of them continued to stare at each other in silence before Rain couldn’t hold his urge to say something in anymore.

“I have liked you for years now but I didn’t think you liked me back so I never said anything but then I was talking to Sky and he told me to just confess my feelings probably because he was getting frustrated listening to me whine about you and…” Rain started to ramble but Phayu’s silence was making him nervous.

“Rain, calm down,” Phayu chuckled and Rain stopped talking immediately, looking at Phayu with wide and hopeful eyes. “I – god I never thought I would admit this out loud… I like you too Rain.”

“You do?” Rain asked while trying to contain the immense happiness flowing inside him.

“Mhm,” Phayu hummed and Rain couldn’t stop himself from pulling Phayu in the tightest hug possible.

But Rain misjudged his own strength and the older male ended up crashing into Rain with so much force that Rain fell backwards on the bed, pulling Phayu with him. Luckily Phayu had fast enough reflexes and he was able to catch himself on his hands before landing fully on top of Rain.

Rain looked up at Phayu, his eyes wide from shock, and he noticed the older male glancing at his lips. Rain, with boldness he didn’t even know he had, wrapped his arms around Phayu’s neck and pulled him into a kiss.

It was a sweet kiss at first, just lips pressed against one another as the two of them basked in the moment, but soon enough things started to get a little more heated. Rain felt Phayu’s tongue graze his lips, asking for permission, and Rain granted it by opening his mouth.

The older male’s tongue delved deeper as he explored Rain’s mouth. What was a sweet innocent kiss between the two soon turned into a desperate mess of teeth and tongue. When they eventually separated, both of them were breathing heavily.

Phayu looked at Rain for a moment and then lowered his head down to kiss Rain’s lips quickly before trailing kisses down the younger one’s neck. When he reached Rain’s collarbones, the older male sucked a bruise right below the bone and Rain couldn't help but to let out a breathy moan.

“Phi,” Rain moaned and Phayu raised his head to look at Rain once again, humming in response.

The two of them just gazed at each other before Phayu bent down to kiss Rain one more time before getting up and sitting on the bed. Rain couldn’t help but to whine at the loss of contact but before he could complain any further Phayu pulled him up and straight onto his lap.

Phayu pecked Rain’s lips one more time before looking Rain in the eyes and speaking. “I like you so much too Rain. Would you give me the honor of being your boyfriend?”

“Yes!” Rain practically screamed with the brightest smile on his face.

The two of them spent the rest of the day cuddling and exchanging sweet kisses and by the time it was late at night Rain asked Phayu to spend the night, too high on the feeling of pure happiness to let Phayu leave. Luckily for him, Phayu agreed and the two of them fell asleep cuddling on Rain’s bed.

The next morning was not at all like Rain had imagined it. In his mind he would wake up in Phayu’s arms and then kiss some more before finally getting up to eat breakfast together. Well he did wake up in Phayu’s arms but it wasn’t to the older male’s voice or soft kisses. No. What woke him up was a loud exclaim of “What the fuck?!”.

Rain raised his head from where it was laying on Phayu’s bare chest and, to his horror, he saw his older brother Sun staring at him and Phayu with wide eyes. Rain heard a soft grunt and saw that Phayu was waking up.

“What the fuck? What the actual fuck happened here?” Sun asked, no longer yelling but still just as shocked.

“Hi phi,” Rain said sheepishly. “What are you doing here?” He continued.

“Mom and dad asked me to come and check up on you but nevermind that. What are the two of you doing in bed? Together!” Sun was looking between Phayu and Rain both of whom, mind you, were still only wearing their underwear with Rain still laying on top of Phayu’s chest.

“Uh…” Rain and Phayu had talked about how to break the news of their relationship to Sun and thought that the best way was to first ease him into the idea of his best friend and baby brother dating before actually telling him. Now it seemed that they would just need to be upfront with him. “We're dating,” Rain explained.

“Dating?! Since when?!” Sun nearly screamed.

“Stop shouting phi and since yesterday.” Rain’s head was starting to hurt from the loud noises so soon after waking up.

“How… What… Why… I…” Sun seemed to have lost his ability to speak.

“Because we like each other. Now get out and let us get dressed in peace. We’ll come down in a sec,” Rain sighed.

Sun glanced between the two laying in bed one more time before walking out of the room.

“Well that was not how I expected to wake up this morning,” Phayu spoke and his voice still raspy from sleep which in turn made Rain blush.

“Same here… Ugh why did P’Sun have to come and ruin our morning,” Rain groaned.

“Nothing is ruined, baby. Let’s just get up and explain to Sun what’s going on,” Phayu said while sitting up and pulling Rain up with him.

“Baby?” Rain asked and he felt his face heating up once again.

“Well you are my sweet baby,” Phayu said while rubbing their noses together in an affectionate manner and then kissing Rain’s lips. “Come on.”

The two men dressed up and then made their way downstairs where they found Sun sitting at the kitchen table.

“Okay so can someone please tell me what’s going on?” Sun sighed.

“There isn’t much to explain,” Rain shrugged. “We realized we both like each other and started dating.”

“Yu?” Sun turned to his best friend. “How long have you liked Rain?”

“I developed feelings after I started to tutor Rain and don’t worry I won’t ever do anything that could hurt him,” Phayu reassured Sun while wrapping an arm around Rain’s shoulders.

“Fine. Fine. Just as long as Rain is happy I won’t say anything,” Sun said while getting up. “I’ll tell mom and dad that you’re okay,” He added before leaving. Right before the front door closed Rain could hear him mutter, “My best friend and my brother… yup, still weird.”

Phayu chuckled after hearing his best friend and then turned to Rain. “So how about I make us some pancakes for breakfast?”

“Yes!” Rain exclaimed and then blushed from his reaction. Phayu just smiled softly at Rain and kissed him on the forehead.

I can’t believe we're actually together now!, was the only thought floating around in Rain’s head for days to come.
