Chapter 1: mission complete

Chapter Text

We stepped into the elevator and the door was slowly closing in front of us. We had officially made it out of the bank without dying and our blackmailing plan had worked. I was excited that I had completed my fifth mission and I was looking forward to the little party that was about to happen with the ocean’s. All of them were so funny and nice to me and they really accepted me as a part of the group. On the other hand, how shouldn’t they accept me, if my father the “group leader”, always standing next to me with eyes that told everyone what would happen if they harmed me in any way. But none ever did. They were too interested and too surprised that I existed, I guessed.
My father had me when he was still quite young, but he didn’t want that to destroy his plans. So he was rather absent in my childhood. I had lived with my mom in Britain for a long time, before I came to the US. He stopped by here and there when I was younger and I had always enjoyed the time I had spent with him. I had always loved the stories of the missions he had done and secretly I had always wanted to become a part of the ocean’s as soon as I was old enough. And here I was. When my dad had revealed that he had a daughter all of the rest had been quite shocked. Not even rusty had known that!
But when he introduced me to the group it was really nice. I had probably even been more excited than the rest. So now I was in that elevator with rusty and my dad and we were done with this. My feet ached, because I wore high heels again. They were more effective for convincing the ceo my father said… And by effective he meant sexy, which does come in handy because this guy had clearly been kind of frightened of me. Whatever. I did what was necessary. To my right and to my left were the two of them, dressed in security clothes to pretend they were my bodyguards, which they actually kind of were. I had talked the ceo of the bank into accepting our deal, while dad and Rusty had waited outside. And it had worked.
As soon as the elevator door had closed completely, my father bumped into me a little and said “That was a good one. You really have potential.”. I gasped. “Excuse me, just potential? I’d say that was pretty great.”, I exclaimed with my British accent that only came out rarely, especially when I was angry. “Well he said it was good at least. But I think this was fucking brilliant y/n.”, Rusty said and elbowed me. I smiled triumphantly and enjoyed myself for a second. I loved it that Rusty hyped me up like that. He was always more supportive than my father… Then, as the elevator door opened, the smile faded away and my usual poker face was present again. We walked out of the elevator and out of the bank, my heels clacking on the marble floor. The two men two my sides walked with serious expressions, which only faded away as soon as we entered that car that was standing in front of the building. Turk was in the front seat and when all of us had sat down, the car drove away with a speed that was illegal for sure. While driving he turned around to us and asked “Did you make it?”. “Yess.”, my dad said and put his arm around my shoulder. I leaned against him and noticed that I was actually quite tired by now. “Ohhh yess!”, Turk said happily and focused on drifting us through the streets of New York city again. “Tired?”, Rusty asked as he was distracted with his phone. “A little… This guy was just exhausting.”, I explained. I enjoyed this little break before we met the others and for the rest of the car ride nothing was said.
