Work Text:

“I hate my life.”

Miorine cursed her luck as she sneezes for the nth time. Her nose felt horrendously stuffy, eyes itchy, watering ever so slightly, and she had a fever to top it all off.

Her assistant looks over to her, shooting her a concerned look which she was quick enough to dismiss. After all, work wasn’t going to get itself done. A bunch of papers were settled down on the desk yet again as Miorine starts to pour her attention on the files.

Though it was swiftly interrupted by a sneeze.

“Fuck my life…” Miorine says in a hoarse voice, earning herself a wince of sympathy as well as a light scolding from her assistant.

She sighs, with a pounding headache she reaches up to grab her mug of coffee. Though she absolutely hates the vile substance, unless it was freshly roasted and brewed by her Suletta, she had to make do for now.

A low pleased sigh escaped her lips as she nursed the hot mug of coffee in both her palms. Its warmth was akin to a balm for her hands, icy and prickly enough for even her to wince.

Miorine was quick enough to down a little bit of the warm drink, feeling her throat get a little bit better. Way better than the feeling of swallowing a bunch of pins she had from earlier.

“Haah~” She couldn’t help the low moan of satisfaction as she carefully took another sip from her mug.

“My my, getting seduced by a cup of coffee Miomio~”

Miorine snaps her head to the entrance door of her office. The corner of her catches familiar pink as the flamboyant friend of hers strolls inside without a care.

“I told you to stop calling me that, Chuatury…” Miorine grunts as she stands up, shivering  slightly when her palm touches the cold wood of her desk.

“And I told you to stop working so much, damn spacian.” Chuchu scowls, clearly disappointed from the lack of care Miorine had for herself. She straightens her back and looks back at the fiery silver glare her friend was shooting her.

“Oh wow, I’m so surprised to hear that from you of all people, Chuchu.” Miorine bites back, annoyed as Chuchu continues to interrupt her. Stopping her from getting her work done by grabbing all her sheets from her desk in a no-nonsense behavior.

“I’m not doing this for you , the last thing I want is for Suletta to be worried about your sorry ass for getting all sick just because you can’t care for yourself.”

And that was the final nail in the coffin.

Miorine sighed frustratedly; infuriated and irritated that what she was saying was, in fact, correct. The current CEO of Gund-ARM was well aware of how worried and concerned her wife got whenever Miorine got sick.

While it was rather endearing to see her Suletta fret over her and be extra cautious and caring (If that was even possible, Suletta became all sorts of gooey and giddy whenever she got time to be with her busy wife) she’d rather not make her worry even more than she already does.

“Okay… You got me this time.”

Chuchu grinned victoriously.

Miorine groans as she drags herself to her home.

By the time she actually got off from work, the clock had already struck 8pm and it was now close to 9 by the time she reached her home. Not to mention how dead tired and weak she felt.

‘The concrete of our driveway looks so comfortable right no-’

Miorine shook her head, trying to free her mind from the impulsive thoughts she could very well indulge herself in if she didn’t reach her bed on time.

Her finger swipes in the pass code, hearing the satisfying Clack of the door opening.

Even though her nose was stuffed and it was extremely hard to breathe through, she could still make out the familiar smell of scented candles. The smell of freshly prepared dinner, the smell of her favorite person in the whole world.

The smell of home, if anything.

“I am so corny sometimes…” Miorine couldn’t help but chuckle lamely.

She throws her coat on the couch, scrambling to get out of her achingly tight heels. All thoughts lost and thrown out when she hears the small hum from the kitchen, a melody which reverberated true within her being.

Her wife is standing in all her glory, a spatula in hand as she mindlessly hums the tune which Miorine could faintly make out to be from an age-old game Suletta and Ericht play from time to time.

Her hands reach out unconsciously, softly wrapping around Suletta’s waist as she all but buries her face in the nape of her neck.

“Welcome home, love.” Suletta tilts her head just a tiny bit, revealing her bright smile. Eyebrows creasing as she leans back against the grounding weight of her wife.

“I’m home…” Miorine couldn’t but reply back, feeling her cheeks burning up and this time she knew it wasn’t because of her fever.

“Chuchu told me you had a fever, I was so worried…”

“I know…”

Guilt seeps into her voice, her hands tightening their grip around Suletta to let her know that she was fine.

Suletta turns around, or at least tries to. She squirms, feeling the grip in those tiny arms get tighter and tighter.

“Mio-mio… Y-You’re crushing m-me.” She makes a garbled sound as crimson bleeds onto her cheeks when she sees Miorine resting her head on her chest. Purring like a content cat as she nuzzles her chest, seemingly finding a sweet spot to lay her head on comfortably.

“Warm…” was all Suletta hears as she feels the grip around her go slack.

Her wife had gone to sleep while standing, it was just a telling about how tired the woman actually was.

“Cute.” Suletta says with a small soft smile dancing on her lips.

One hand slips under Miorine’s knees as another supports her back. Suletta hefts her wife up, meeting no complaints as she carries Miorine to their bedroom.

She settles Miorine under the blankets with all the care in the world. Pecking her forehead, Suletta stands up, after all she had to put the dinner in the refrigerator lest it becomes stale and a sorry excuse of a meal.

Her movement stops. She feels something light, something soft, holding her hand.

Miorine stares back at her with half lidded eyes, clouded with tiredness and hazy love. The small frown on her face tells Suletta everything she needs to know.

“I’ll be right back baby.” Suletta says with an amused smile, lifting her other hand to clasp it gently around the pale mass of her knuckles.

Miorine sniffles, a small pout growing on her pretty lips as she tries to pull Suletta towards her.

“Miorine, baby, love… I have to put the dinner in the refrigerator… I promise I’ll be right back, just give me a minute.”

“Don’t wanna.”

“Mio-mio…”

“It’s no-” A cough interrupts her sentence and Suletta grimaces when she sees her sick wife. She desperately wanted to tell her to rest, to go to sleep and just rest

She leans down, tucking a stray strand of silver behind Miorine’s ear as she pecks her on the lips. It was brief but loving all the same.

“If that’s what you want.”

Miorine huffs, a small grin on her face as she shifts around to make some space for her wife.

.

“You’re so spoiled, Mio-mio…”

“Blame yourself.”

“I guess that’s true too.”
