Notes:

Hello! In case anyone is interested, this story was originally written in Spanish and is almost finished here at AO3, so you can find more chapters there.
As a small note, this is a translation, so there may be grammatical errors that I have missed, as English is not my first language. Still, I hope you enjoy it.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

When Suzume proposed that they take a trip to her hometown to pay respects to Daijin now that she had finally graduated from high school, the last thing Munakata Souta expected, was to find himself in a situation like this.

What had started as a simple trip where it would be just the two of them, had ended up becoming a kind of "family" trip that included Serizawa and Tamaki, who invited themselves on the trip once they found out about it.

With two more people included in the trip and given the time it would take them to get there, they had decided to stay in the closest hotel to the area, thus opting to spend the night in the place and leave the next morning for the ruins where they the door was found.

As expected, however, with Serizawa included in the trip, karaoke night at the hotel was assured.

What Souta didn't expect, was what would happen next.

No one could have expected it, really; there was no way anyone would.

Still, the fact remained that the unexpected turn of events that night had led both him and Suzume to this time and place, though for the life of him, he couldn't understand the meaning behind it all.

And it is that even if he was used to dealing with a more supernatural side of the world, his brain was taking time to process the information that came to him suddenly.

A few meters away from the door that connected to the afterlife and having arrived at the place just a few seconds after Suzume, Souta had been able to do nothing but freeze at the scene that greeted him when he finally caught up with the young woman.

Standing there, in front of the door, was Suzume…with a child in her arms.

A child identical to him when he was that age.

For several seconds that seemed eternal, neither of them knew what to say or do, until the little boy opened his eyes and finally spoke.

Suzume gasped audibly at that; Souta forgot how to breathe.
