Lackadaisy x Reader: Treasure Hunt- Deleted Scenes

Summary:

These are the rough drafts and outtakes for my current story, the LxR: Treasure Hunt. I didn't think they quite fit in with what I was going for, but they might at least be amusing on their own merits.

Chapter 1: Serafine-CH4

Chapter Text

The very last place you expected to run into Serafine Savoy, notorious gangster, was in a dingy little curio shop on the edge of town. Her older brother no doubt lurking somewhere nearby.

You hadn’t recognized her at first, she was wearing different clothes and her wavy black hair was loose. It cascaded around her shoulders like surf crashing against a rock. You were perusing the book selection when she sauntered up to you to scare you say hello and ask what you were doing in this neck of the woods.

“I’m looking for either research material or inspiration. A mix of both, really,” you said.

“Ah, for your radio dramas, oui?”

“Yes, I'm trying to incorporate more characters of different backgrounds into my works. I can only do them justice if I have enough information about those backgrounds to go off of.”

Serafine seemed intrigued. As in genuinely curious, and not just waiting for opportunities to snark at you.

“Most recently I’ve been looking up religious peoples, specifically of the Non-Christian variety. They’re not as well known, so I figure that may lend itself well to creating character types no other station has.”

She hummed thoughtfully, however you sensed annoyance. She was practically biting off the end of her cigarette stick. You could guess why.

“I know most radio stations don’t give characters who aren’t Christian or American the most… flattering depictions. I want to change that. By presenting people with different beliefs or cultures as fleshed out people instead of poor caricatures to be laughed at. That’s why I came here actually. I tried the library first, but I’m trying to find something straight from the source. Something written by the people I’d like to know about rather than about them.”

Her concerns assuaged, Serafine’s self-assured smile came back.

“I t’ink I got just what you’re looking for Cher. Drop by de hotel tonight and I’ll let you speak to some folks dat I know,” she turned and walked away with a wave. “Au revoire.”

“I will, thanks!” you called after her, delighted to have her assistance.

Serafine was partly why you’d become so interested in different cultures in the first place.
