"Hm? Miss Dan Shu? What's gotten over you all of a sudden?" Yufei chuckled, ticklish, when her beloved partner suddenly wrapped her arms into her waist. They were both at their respective stations in the Alchemy Commission, but Dan Shu had somehow snuck up behind her.
"Nothing, really," Dan Shu nestled her chin where she guessed Yufei's shoulder would be (and she was right). "Allow me to have this, just for a bit."
"Intriguing!" Yufei remarked. "You normally didn't like showing affection in public, let alone at our workplace of all places."
Dan Shu made a disapproving noise. She did not want to be reminded of their whereabouts right now, even if she could pick up the ever-pungent fragrance of herbs surrounding them both. Like a thousand eyes tracking their every move.
She hoped that even the all-seeing Reignbow Arbiter could look away, just this once.
"I'm... Just a little tired." Dan Shu tried to fake a yawn, but it came out more like a pleased sigh.
"And?" Yufei knew there was no way that could be true. Dan Shu was one of the strongest women she had ever known.
"... I suddenly missed you." There was nothing she could get past Yufei, wasn't there? Did she show it on her face?
"That's better. I love you too, my dear," Yufei giggled. It was rare for Dan Shu to be soft like this in public.
"That's not what I said... But that works too," Dan Shu murmured, burying her face into Yufei as much as she could so that Yufei couldn't see the expression she might be making. She was suddenly feeling quite embarrassed.
Albeit, Yufei didn't have to look to figure it out.
With Dan Shu, she just knows.
