July 3, 2021
Today marks the 1st year and 2 months of Hansol pursuing Seungkwan.
It totally doesn’t make sense if they will track the time of it, but for Seungkwan, it personally does.
Everyone knows how fragile his heart is, that is why even if a lot of people want to pursue him, they always failed because it’s either Seungkwan will just offer them a friendship or they cannot approach him at all and just adore him from afar.
Everyone also knows how lovable Seungkwan is. They know that the guy is so easy to love because he appreciates every small or big thing around him—whether it’s a breakfast sandwich, iced Americano, love letter, pen, plus point during recitation, or even just greeting him a hello in the hallways. He will appreciate everything simply because he knows that it takes an effort for a person to do it and he respects their spent time and effort itself to do it.
Besides that, he is also kind towards everyone around him, even if they are not close friends. He always greets the janitors and guards, always bow and say hello to the professors, and do not forget to thank the stall vendors for the daily meal.
His life was simple as that, being a popular guy around the campus because of his personality and achievements—all-around journalist and student leader that compete inside and outside the campus, not until came Chwe Hansol that totally disturbed his peace in a good way.
Chwe Hansol is also a popular guy in the same university, but unlike Seungkwan who is known for his achievements, Hansol is known to be the face of the university that is why he is always the representative when there are pageants and when there is a need of an ambassador to promote their school.
He is not fond of the spotlight he has ever since he entered college, but since it is already his last year, he was already used to it as time goes by and he is already preparing some of his juniors for training of his current role.
There’s an event in their university where the president of the student council and the ambassador to talk about the future of the students when it comes to co-curricular activities and since they both fit the role, the professors assigned them to have a meeting whenever they are free from their schedule.
“How’s a coffee date on Saturday sounds to you?”
Seungkwan weirdly looks at Hansol. As far as he knows, they both heard clearly from the professor that they should have a professional meeting for the future of the students in the university, not a personal meeting to talk about their future together.
“Chill. I’m just kidding, Boo”
He was confused. They are not close to have a first name basis, but he also don’t like it when someone calls him by his surname just because it sounds different in other countries. But since he wants to be the bigger person, he just let it pass.
“Saturday. Deal.”
“Really? Okay, see you!”
The bell rang and it’s finally dismissal. They days went on until it’s Saturday and even if Seungkwan already knew how Hansol got his phone number, he still can’t help but to be curious about it.
“Where did you get my number?”
“Obviously from our professor. Where are you? I’m already here”
“Why are you excited? We have 1 hour left. Do you want to see me already?”
Hansol scoffed in front of his screen as he tries so hard to just be lowkey because he’s indeed at the shop already and Seungkwan’s right, he wants to see him already.
“As if? I just want to finish this because I still have things to do”
“Okay, sorry for taking your time, Mr. Ambassador, even if you’re the one who suggested the place and schedule”
“Whatever you say. Come here quick”
Once Seungkwan arrived at the said place with his casual clothes, Hansol was in awe. He knows how Seungkwan is respected in the university because of his positions, but he never knew that this person can actually still look attractive with whatever he is doing.
“Why do you keep looking at me like that? I’m a real person”
Hansol laughed and Seungkwan was surprised. He sure knows he didn’t crack a joke, so why is the person in front of him laughing as if his whole existence is a joke to him?
“Damn. The school should’ve just let others to become to Ambassador, one that is serious about the role”
The laughter stopped and Hansol cleared his voice.
“It’s fancy to meet you again, Boo”
“Okay, Chwe”
Hansol laughed again for a second and when Seungkwan glared at him, he stopped and just asked if they can already have their orders.
A few minutes after, while enjoying their iced coffee on a hot summer afternoon, they started planning from the even and Hansol can say that Seungkwan is really born to be a leader because who brings a notebook and a pen on a coffee shop without actual studying and just planning for some organization work? Of course, it’s none other than Boo Seungkwan who keeps on talking even if Hansol can’t understand any word he is saying.
“Earth to Chwe Hansol?”
“Yes, that’s a good idea”
“What good idea are you saying? I’m not even suggesting yet”
He mentally facepalmed and just looked at what Seungkwan has written so far. He keeps nodding as he just want to agree with all his ideas because honestly, it will really leave a great impact on the whole student body.
“Alright. We’re done for the day. I’ll submit a draft report on Monday and I’ll just update you once it’s approved. Thanks”
“Hey, do you want a lift home?”
“No thanks, I can manage”
“I insist, though”
“Whatever you say”
The whole ride was quiet and the only thing that can be heard is the RNB music playing on the car’s speaker. Seungkwan was thankful because he really doesn’t want to have a personal conversation with the driver. Yet, it was also his chance to look closely at the Ambassador who has an obvious pointy nose, fluffy lips, pinkish cheeks, and his cute curled bangs. He drives smoothly as if he’s used to driving someone when they’re on a date and Seungkwan was suddenly just curious about what kind of boyfriend can he be.
“Let’s see if I’ll be your boyfriend in the future”
Seungkwan panicked. He doesn’t know that he’s already thinking out loud and the guy beside him is already chuckling when he saw his panicked face.
“Why do you look like that? You don’t want to try? I’m single and available just for you”
“Ah, so that’s why the university specifically picked you as the Ambassador? I see”
“Why are you avoiding the question?”
“What question?”
Hansol stopped the car exactly in front of Seungkwan’s apartment building. The older was about to remove the seatbelt when Hansol stopped him from doing so.
“What do you think you are doing?”
“I’m going home, what else?”
“We’re not yet done talking, though”
“So?”
“So? You’re unbelievable, Boo”
Seungkwan eventually removed the seatbelt and went out of the car. What he didn’t expect is for Hansol to follow him to his apartment door and so he doesn’t have any choice but to face him.
“What do you want?”
“You”
“Really? Okay, good luck”
He opened his door and said his goodbye to Hansol. The last thing he saw was the guy’s precious smile that he thinks cannot be traded for anything in the world.
And that’s what happened. Ever since that day, Hansol didn’t stop proving that he indeed like Seungkwan, even expressing all the love languages in his own way and everyone around them was just impressed because they surely didn’t expect the both of them to be a powerful couple in the future.
It even helped the both of them for the school event to be successful because the proposal was immediately approved and a lot of students are already anticipating for it.
He glanced at the calendar on his phone once again and saw the date: July 3, 2021.
There’s nothing really special except the fact that they are going to graduate anytime soon and Seungkwan will surely miss everything about his university life not because he gained popularity for his kills, but because of the memories he made during those days for his respective roles.
College wasn’t easy and if not for his non-academic activities, he will not be able to survive it simply because he cannot focus on just doing his academics alone and his responsibilities outside it was his escape and that includes a guy named Chwe Hansol.
“Can you come out for a bit? I have something to give to you”
“What is it this time, Chwe?”
“You’ll see when you go out”
Seungkwan put his pen down on his table and went outside to see if there’s a certain Chwe Hansol waiting for his outside the council office. When he spotted the guy with something in his hands, he thinks that he already knows what the guy is talking about.
“I bought you lunch. Dino said you didn’t eat since 7am and I feel like you don’t have any plans on eating today, so…”
“Wrong. I was about to go to the cafeteria”
“You only thought of that when you I told you to come out? Come on, you can eat this in the office. The cafeteria is swamped right now, you’ll probably be stressed”
It’s always the small gestures that matter the most to Seungkwan. Hansol is the only one who had a long patience and didn’t literally asked for something in return because he literally just want to express what he feels for him and Seungkwan? As a soft-hearted person, he slowly realizes that there would really be someone that will tolerate his behavior no matter what the circumstance is.
Six in the evening and Seungkwan finally finished all the reports he needs to distribute to his officers. He stretched his arms and started to arrange his belongings when he noticed that he’s the only one left in the office.
He shook his head and when he’s eventually done looking at the surroundings if there’s other plugs left yet, he turned off the lights and locked the door.
“Dinner date with me?”
Seungkwan swears he felt his heart went out from his ribcage for a second because of the sudden voice even if he knows who’s the owner of it.
“God. You startled me, Chwe!”
“Sorry. I was quietly waiting for you here because I don’t want to disturb you inside”
“Is that so? You should’ve told me. There’s a lot of mosquitos here at night, are you okay?”
“Yeah. So, dinner date?”
“Okay, since you waited for me. I’ll treat you”
“Hey, it’s okay. It’s on me. I waited for you because I know your officers went home early a while ago and I guess that you’ll be tired and hungry if you’ll commute way back home so I waited”
Again, the small gestures that make Seungkwan’s heart flutters. He just nodded and when they reached the parking area where Hansol’s car was parked, the latter was fast to open the door for him and made sure to cover his head so it won’t bump on the car roof.
It is as if Hansol knows where they would eat because he didn’t ask Seungkwan already. And for the record, he knows that he’s already tired if he will think about it so he just decided for the two of them and also took an advance order.
“Enjoy your dinner, Sir”
The ambiance was peaceful and relaxing. There aren’t a lot of people and Seungkwan guesses that Hansol made a reservation already as if this dinner date wasn’t as spontaneous as it can be.
“Nice choice of restaurant. Is this your favorite? It seems like the waiter already knows you”
“Mhm, I just love the food here. Did you like it?”
“Actually, yes. It’s so nice. Thank you”
A moment of silence before Seungkwan wholeheartedly let himself be honest with the guy in front of him.
“Hansol”
After 1 year and 2 months, Seungkwan finally called him by his first name and he really can’t hide the big smile in his face and Seungkwan was indeed happy with it, too.
“Yes, Seungkwan?”
“Congratulations for passing the obstacle. You can now claim your prize by holding my hand and changing my contact name to whatever cute call sign you want.”
Confusion. There’s too many things to be assessed in that answer and Hansol can’t seem to comprehend anything.
“All I’m saying is… today is our 1st day, right?”
Hansol could definitely scream if not for the fact that they are in a public place. The smile on his face became bigger when Seungkwan was actually the one who held his hand and intertwined it with his.

It’s been a year since it happened and it still feel surreal considering the fact that they are in the same restaurant and same exact area where they were exactly a year ago. A year full of just comfort, romance, intimacy, hope, and happiness with each other and looking back what just happened, Seungkwan and Hansol really can’t wish for anything anymore because they know, they just know, they are going to last forever and make a lot of moments like this to remember.
