Demon Ash

Summary:

Chuy's eyes burned red.

Notes:

I hate how they made Joe cheat on Chuy after they had been together for literally thousands of years. i fixed that. but it is still sad.

Work Text:

Walker leaned in and kissed him quickly.

Joe glared. “I told you before. I hunt with you. That’s it. I love my husband. I will never-.” He choked slightly. “I will-.” He coughed. “What- what did you- “

Walker smirked lightly. “When I first started hunting, I had to do a whole load of research to figure out how to kill demons. One book mentioned that demon ash can be used against an angel.” He smiled cruelly, pushing a wheezing Joe out of his seat and into the back of the van. “You’re obviously never going to return my affections, so I’m just going to take what I want.”

Joe gasped as the demon hunter straddled his thighs, then all he knew was pain.

///

“Joe! Watch out, that’s the demon!”

Joe spun around, heart beating wildly at the voice and flinched when he saw Walker jogging towards Chuy, who stood between them frowning in confusion. “Stop!” he yelled, running forward to stand between his husband and the demon hunter. He snarled. “He’s my husband.”

“What?”

Joe slipped his hand into Chuy’s and grimaced when Walker stepped closer still. “You need to leave, Walker. Now.”

“Who’s this?” asked Chuy quietly.

Joe grimaced. He flinched when Walker took another step.

Chuy did not miss his reaction.

“This is Walker,” the angel said quietly, avoiding looking at the hunter. “We were hunting together before-.” He cut himself off grimacing.

Chuy frowned. “Before what? Joe?” He furrowed his brow when he saw the fear in his husband’s eyes. “Joe? What happened?”

“It doesn’t matter,” the angel said hoarsely, reluctantly turning to look at Walker. “Walker is going to leave Midnight. And he is never going to come back.” The faint white glow around Joe’s hands made drove his demand home.

“Hang on.” Walker hadn’t noticed the light. “Joe, what is-.” He moved closer and Joe met him quickly, holding his knife to the hunter’s neck. He froze.

“If you ever come back to Midnight,” Joe said quietly. “If you ever come near me or my family, I will kill you.”

Walker snorted. “Don’t be ridiculous. Angels don’t kill humans.”

Joe growled, pressing the knife closer and drawing blood. “Then you better get stepping.”

Walker stared at him, then raised his hands clearly and began to walk away. “I’m sure I’ll see you soon, Joe. Because someday your gonna need me to kill him for you. Demons are all the same.”

“You stay away from him!” Joe snarled, advancing with the knife raised. He was stopped by Chuy wrapping his arms around his waist.

“Leave,” the demon said, looking the hunter in the eye.

With one final glare at Chuy and a smirk at Joe, Walker vanished.

Joe sagged in Chuy’s arms, hiding his face in his husband’s neck. Cold tears dripped onto his warm neck. “I’m so sorry Chuy. I’m so sorry.”

Chuy stepped back so that he could look at his husband properly. It was then that he noticed the bruise hidden behind his beard on his jawline. “What is this?”

Joe broke down in sobs, dropping his knees, whispering apologies to the ground.

Chuy felt his blood boil and took a minute to force down his demon, kneeling next to his husband. “Joe. What happened?”

“He had demon ash,” the angel whispered. “I couldn’t – I- He-.” He wasn’t able to form words.

Chuy felt ice cold as he looked the bruise again. “Baby. Did he-.” He fingers brushed the bruise. “Did he- “

Joe buried his face in the demon’s neck, sobbing.

Joe stared at nothing. His blood was boiling, but he felt ice cold. He wanted to follow the hunter. He wanted to kill him. He wanted to rip him apart with his bare hands. He wanted to tear out his eyeballs and feed them to him. He wanted to rip his fingers off one by one and make him watch. He didn’t need his demon, he would make that – man – experience more pain than he ever had before. He could feel his eyes burning red.

Joe’s breath hitched and he shook in his arms.

Chuy pushed his demon down and tightened his arms around his angel, whispering reassurances in his ear. He couldn’t kill the hunter. Not now.

His husband needed him.
