Chapter Text
"Hey, Hey! Are you sleeping!?"
Green jade eyes open to the world gazing at the clear blue cloudless sky.
"Hey! Are you even listening to me!" the blond girl next to her shrieks, trying to shake the girl out of her daze.
"Huh..." the jade-eyed girl mumbles "When did I sleep...?" slowly but surely breaking out of her trance.
"Ino..?" she says squinting her eyes.
"Yeah it's me! You slept! Between our important discussion!" the blond─ Ino shouts next to her ear. "How in the world did you even sleep so quickly! we were talking one second and in the other second you were out like a light bulb!" she asks once again shaking her.
"what?" the jade-eyed girl─ Sakura says now completely broken out of her trance "I slept?" she asked directing her confused eyes to Ino's searching for an answer on how she slept in seconds "Yes!, you slept out of nowhere! do you even remember what we were talking about." Ino huffed out a sigh narrowing her eyes at her.
"I do remember?" Ino raised a pale eyebrow at that, "Are you asking me?" Sakura immediately made a cross gesture with her arms shaking her head in denial, she started thinking hard whacking her brain for the last thing she could remember before she slept "I think I remember now!" Ino's face lit up at that, contrary to her last expression.
"we were talking about..." She began as Ino gave her an abrupt encouraged look to continue, then it hit her "Yeah! We were taking about how even plants─" Sakura uttered excitedly getting cut off, "Have microscopic Chakra present in them!" Ino finished, as they both squeaked excitedly.
"That's so awesome, Ino! I only thought that humans and animals had Chakra! How come you know this, they never taught this in the academy! Your a genius!" Sakura blurted out without taking a single breath turning to face her first ever best friend eagerly.
Upon hearing that Ino puffed her chest out with pride, a pleased gleam in her eyes. "Of course! You know I am the best flower expert in Konoha! I know everything about plants!" The teal-eyed girl declared smugly flipping her short blond hair.
"oh?" amused, Sakura pointed out a random flower on the meadow "Oh great Ino-sama! Can you tell me what that flower is!" She said in a greatly exaggerated way
"Oh Sakura-san!" Ino began "you think too lowly of me! The flower you are point at is called Ajisai and it symbolizes heartfelt emotion and somethings the meaning is different according to their colour." It was said expertly as if this was all common sense. Impressed Sakura started started clapping with her bright eyes.
" Wow Ino! You really are a great flower expert!" the bright eyed child said cheering her friend. At that Ino had the biggest and brightest smile she had ever seen.
They both soon continued sprouting even more facts and meanings of the flowers surrounding them. Well, it was Ino who was sprouting facts left and right and Sakura butting in her own facts every few minutes, eager to remember everything Ino uttered word by word.
Too absorbed in their own little world filled with flower meanings and facts, they failed to notice the small veins slowly creeping up the tree behind them.
Midday was soon coming to an end when Ino and Sakura finally decided to head to their second favorite place as of recently the market, (first being the meadow) which was located at the very center of Konoha, was filled with civilians and shinobi alike minding their own business. What really fascinated both girls were the people present there.
Before they were dismissed for their month long vacation from the academy. Their sensei from their respective classes mentioned about how recognizing body language is an important part of a becoming a shinobi. Thus, their interest in observing people began.
They both started searching intently for the best and perfect place where they can sit and observe the people around them peacefully without any disturbance (Last time when some girl disturbed them, Ino blew up on her and that is a story for another time).
Out of know where Ino tapped her shoulder making her flinch, "Ino! you scared me!" Sakura whisper yelled "Sorry! but why are you whispering?!" Ino whispers yells back. "Well your whispering too." sakura says crossing her arms. At that Ino let out a frustrated sound "Fine!" she shouts remembering something she sheepishly smiles at her, "Sakura! I found the perfect place for us to spy from." she says enthusiastically almost ready to bounce away, grabs her hand and starts dragging her to the less crowed area and towards a tree?
"Ino-chan a tree?" Ino nods her head at that "You do see I am wearing a dress right?" Sakura asks shyly "You're acting as if your not wearing an underwear." She rolls her eyes "Of course I am!" Sakura yells mortified with a red face nearly the colour of her dress "Unless you know any perverts around here." Ino yelps glaring at the few people around them threateningly. uneasy, Sakura politely bows at stranger looking seemingly scared by Ino and dragged her behind the tree.
"Ino! that was very impolite!" Sakura scolds Ino shaking her head trying to imitating her mother when she does something bad. "Awww come on can't I look after my best friend's well being." Ino says dejected "No, no! it's okay Ino-chan!" flattered, she tries to lift her best friends sprits "I will also look after your well being! since your my best friend." that seems to do the trick. Ino beams her a bright smile making her cheeks turn pink. "Thanks Sakura-chan! now come on lets start climbing now." tugging her arm, Ino began climbing the tree, Sakura follows not long after with a much slower pace, careful not to rip her dress by the rough bark.
Finally, she reached the branch Ino was preached upon. letting out a big sigh of relief she carefully set off towards Ino and sat next to her.
