Chapter 1: Spin the Bottle

Chapter Text

You’d heard all sorts of stories about what it meant to sail on the Grand Line. Tales of ships taken down by unpredictable weather, islands floating impossibly in the sky, and pirate crews with devil fruits and unfathomable power. And yet, on a day like today, you could hardly believe you were sailing the same sea.

“I’m booooooooored,” your captain lamented from his position at the head of the Thousand Sunny. Since joining the Straw Hat Pirates several months ago, you didn’t think you’d ever seen Luffy this deflated. But it made sense – the crew had left the last island days ago, and you’d seen no action since. Nothing. Not even a sea king.

“Why don’t you just appreciate the fact that we’re not fighting for our lives for once!” your navigator snapped from the middle of the deck, where you were both sunbathing alongside a reading Robin. It had taken everyone a few days to relax, as there was always danger on the horizon with this crew. But you’d finally come to accept that you’d hit a rare, peaceful part of your journey. You knew the feeling was fleeting and were doing your best to really enjoy it.

“OooOOoooOoh ladies! Your drinks are ready~” your heart-eyed chef seemed to have no problem enjoying himself during the downtime, doting on all three of you even more than usual. Despite Sanji’s overzealous tendencies, you had to admit the attention was nice. “Here you go, my princesses.” He handed each of you a beautiful fruity drink, complete with little umbrellas on top. You took a sip and sighed contentedly.

“This is lovely! You know mango is my favorite,” you said with a sweet smile, and Sanji immediately lit up at your praise.

“But of course! Nothing less than the best for my sweets,” he gushed as he handed the others their drinks. “OH AND NAMI-SWAN YOU LOOK FABULOUS IN THAT BATHING SUIT~” Soon the chef had blood rushing out of his nose and ran off to avoid being embarrassed, and you chuckled to yourself. You really did love this crew. You thought of everyone else scattered throughout ship, finding their own ways to pass the time.

Your eyes darted up to the crows nest, and your chuckle morphed into a slight frown. More free time had meant you’d been able to spend the last few days enjoying hanging out with everyone on the ship. Almost everyone.

“You know, I’m sure he wouldn’t turn you away if you asked to train with him,” Robin nudged, and you immediately felt your cheeks heat defensively. You hated how perceptive she was sometimes.

“Wha? No, I was just wondering if he’d seen anything – y’know he’s been up there all morning and it’s about time we ran into some trouble, this quiet can’t last forever.”

“Oh come on! These idiots may not see it, but you can’t fool us. We both know about your little crush on Zoro,” Nami stuck her tongue out and winked at you. The flush in your face deepened.

You’d had a rocky relationship with the swordsman since the day you stepped foot on this ship. While Luffy was glad to have you on board without much hesitation, you always felt like Zoro had his eye on you. They were such a tight knit crew, and you wondered if he didn’t quite trust you. But you had to admit, the thought of the swordsman watching for your presence still made your heart flutter just a bit. Despite the fact that he was always aloof in his interactions with you, you found him alluring. You always seemed to be aware of where he was on the ship, and often found yourself near there too. You’d thought you’d been subtle. Apparently, not that subtle.

“It’s not like that, really!” You didn’t think you were being convincing. Nami and Robins’ expressions confirmed this.

“What’s not like what?” You nearly jumped out of your skin when you realized Luffy had wandered over. You’d been so busy trying to cover for yourself that your awareness had dropped. The last person you wanted listening in on this besides Zoro himself was Luffy. You doubted he kept anything from the swordsman. You assured the captain you were just talking about “girl stuff,” and he just stared at you blankly for a moment before he broke out into a huge grin and wandered into the kitchen looking for Sanji to ask him for some meat.

---

Night fell upon the Sunny, and still the waters were smooth. Since you’d all recently stocked up on supplies, there was plenty of food and drink to go around for evening revelry. Spirits were high – Chopper and Usopp were running around with Luffy, Franky was feeling SUPER, Brook was playing his violin, and even Zoro had come down from training in the crow's nest for some booze. You tried not to pay too much attention to him.

“Heeey, anybody want to play a game?” Nami called out from the main deck, catching the attention of a few of the crewmates. Of course Sanji came running at Nami’s call, and at the mention of a game, Luffy, Chopper and Usopp all came scurrying over. You left the railing where you’d been chatting with Robin, both curious about what Nami had in mind. She held up an emptied bottle of wine and smiled wide. You weren’t sure if it was the alcohol talking (as Nami hardly ever seemed drunk) or if she was just feeling mischievous when she blurted out “Let’s play spin the bottle!” You stared at her in disbelief. What?

“How do you play?” a very innocent Chopper looked at her with excitement, which made you and Robin both laugh.

Nami sat down on the deck and beckoned for the others to join her. “Everyone who wants to play gathers around in a circle on the ground.” She placed the bottle on its side and spun it like a pro. “If it points in your direction, you’re the first person selected. Then we spin again… and whoever it lands on, you have to kiss!” You thought she was out of her mind. You were even more shocked when Robin agreed and sat down next to her. Then Sanji rushed down because of course he wasn’t going to pass up an opportunity like this, and then Luffy, Usopp and Chopper followed suit, Luffy beaming at the idea of literally anything to break the monotony. Was this silly game actually going to happen?

“Ah, what the hell,” you shrugged and squeezed in between Nami and Robin and took a swig of your own drink, mentally preparing yourself for the shenanigans about to ensue. It had been a slow few days after all.

“Zoro, what about you?” Nami called to the swordsman who’d been leaning against the mast nearby, and she shot you a wicked smile. For a second, you stopped breathing.

“No way I’m playing some stupid game like that,” he sounded totally disinterested, and you weren’t sure if you were relieved or disappointed. So this was Nami’s plan all along – didn’t seem like it was going very well.

“Pleaseee Zoro? Don’t you ever want to do anything fun?” He ignored her second push completely. She huffed in annoyance. “Well fine, suit yourself.” She reached out to the bottle on the deck and begun the first spin.

Around and around it went, and your nerves spiked as it finally began to slow and swung in your direction. It thankfully passed you though, moving until the bottle came to a complete stop on Chopper. Nami smiled. “Our first victim!” He looked excited and shocked, and you couldn’t help but giggle again at his enthusiasm.

All eyes focused on the bottle, Nami spun it again, and this time it looked ready to land on Robin. You studied it with intensity as it stilled, noticing delicate fingers sneakily appearing beneath to shift it ever so slightly to instead land on Usopp. Your head snapped up to make eye contact with Robin, who just gave a tiny chuckle and looked at you knowingly – you were the only one who’d caught her maneuver.

“Alright!” Nami rose to her knees in excitement, her fingers pointing between the boys. “Now you’ve gotta kiss!” Chopper and Usopp’s eyes started bugging out their skulls, and Luffy burst out laughing.

“AAAaaaaah WAIT maybe this game is a silly idea, I-I mean – I didn’t think I’d be the first one picked!” Usopp shouted wildly.

“A man doesn’t back down after he’s already committed!” an also laughing Sanji pointed out, and soon Chopper was on his feet and making his way across the circle to Usopp. You risked a glance at Zoro, curious if he was watching this chaos, and were horrified when you briefly made eye contact with him. It seemed his disinterest had shifted to curiosity - guess he was watching from afar after all. You quickly averted your eyes back to the game.

Chopper planted a tiny peck on Usopp’s cheek as Usopp turned bright red, and soon everyone was howling. Okay, maybe this was a pretty good idea. Amidst the roaring laughter, you knew it was all in good fun.

Once everyone calmed down a bit, Usopp did the honors of the next spin. The next subject: Sanji. Oh boy. You hoped it would land on someone else ridiculous, like Luffy.

But as the bottle came to its next stop, you had to blink a few times to make sure your eyes weren’t mistaken. It was pointing directly at you.

As Nami loudly announced the pairing you and Sanji both turned as red as the band on Luffy’s straw hat. Now directly in the spotlight, you suddenly started to understand how Usopp was feeling just moments ago. As you began mumbling on similarly in protest, Sanji moved towards you and gently cupped your face in his hand. You immediately stilled. You weren’t sure when he’d regained his composure, but his face was serious now. He leaned in close – you’d never noticed just how beautiful his eyes were before – and muttered low just for you to hear, “Is this okay sweetheart? You ready?”

You were surprised by how flustered his tone shift had made you feel, and you found yourself nodding silently as his second hand came up to pull you in closer still and he brought his lips to yours. Your eyes closed as you let yourself get carried away in the moment – his lips were softer than you’d expected, and kissing him felt surprisingly warm and safe. You’d expected a quick peck that mirrored the one from the two before, but when Sanji didn’t pull away, neither did you. Your lips moved together for a full minute before he broke away softly, and for a dazed second you thought you felt disappointment in your chest.

“Okay, okay enough you two, geez!” At the sound of Nami’s voice, you remembered the setting and the game and felt immediate embarrassment. Did that really just happen in front of everyone?

As you both snapped back to reality and Sanji began to spin the bottle for the next round, you heard movement from behind you and you glanced over your shoulder. Zoro had moved from his spot on the deck and was heading back up towards the crow’s nest. A tidal wave of emotions hit you all at once as you realized that Zoro had seen that exchange – and then chosen to leave.

He was probably just so bored of watching this foolishness. Or maybe he was disgusted seeing Sanji indulging himself, those two really don’t get along. Your thoughts kept spinning out, and next thing you knew you looked up and Luffy was leaning in to kiss Nami as she shrieked “cheek only!” and everyone was back to laughing again.

But you couldn’t shake the unease you were feeling, so you decided to excuse yourself from the game, claiming you needed to use the bathroom. Maybe you’d go check on Zoro since everyone else was partying anyway. Maybe there was some other reason he’d been keeping his distance from everyone tonight.

You tried to calm yourself as your heart hammered away in your chest on your way up the ladder. He’d probably just give you some non-answer anyway and you’d head back down to rejoin everyone. No big deal.

Zoro didn’t notice you when you first popped up at the top of the ladder – no surprise, he’d gone back to training, and was lifting weights facing away from you. You very quickly noticed though that he had shed his shirt since leaving everyone below. You watched the muscles in his back flex as he curled a weight up to his bicep, and your chest tightened.

“Um, Zoro?” You crawled out fully into the room. “Zoro?” At your second and louder call the man heard you, put his weights down and turned around to face you. He always looked slightly annoyed in your presence. Tonight, he looked downright angry. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt you.”

“Well you did.” He walked toward you now. Out of everyone, he spent the most time up here in the crow's nest/converted gym. You felt tiny in his presence and his space.

“I just noticed you left the fun downstairs pretty suddenly, and you’ve been distant from everyone the last few days. I wanted to make sure everything was okay.”

He eyed you carefully, but you couldn’t quite read his expression. “I’d just had enough, and decided it was time to get back to training. That’s all.”

You knew it was going to go like this, so you weren’t sure why you felt disheartened now. “Right, got it.” You began turning around to leave when the swordsman spoke up again.

“That was some kiss you shared with the stupid cook there.” So he definitely had seen that. “Still, I bet any kiss from him wasn’t any good.”

You were shocked he’d brought it up at all, and your own nerves plus that little opening got you talking.

“Actually... it was pretty nice.” You knew you’d said the wrong thing then when Zoro’s eye narrowed on you and he took another step toward you, only a few inches from you now. It was intimidating. You had to look up to meet him face to face.

“Oh yeah?” He smirked. You’d never seen him look at you like that before. He moved closer still. “You really think he’s the best kisser on this ship? Or best at anything for that matter?”

You weren’t sure if it was purely his feuding with Sanji fueling this now or something more. For the first time, you considered just maybe he'd always had his eye on you for another reason and blushed. You thought of Nami and Robin’s earlier teasing, and mustered up the courage to test the water a bit.

“I haven’t seen otherwise.”

He stared at you for a moment. Then suddenly, Zoro slammed his lips into yours. If Sanji’s were soft and safe, Zoro’s were rough and hungry. You gasped at the sudden movement, but you didn’t mind a bit. His hands quickly went to your waist and pulled you in flush with his body. You moaned at the action, earning a snicker from the swordsman before he used the opportunity to push his tongue into your mouth. He tasted like booze, but to be honest, you didn’t mind that either. He was intoxicating. Your arms went up around his neck and one hand curled up into the tufts of his surprisingly soft green hair.

You stayed like that for you weren’t sure how long, but probably only a few minutes before Zoro abruptly pulled back to look at your face. With flushed cheeks and already swollen lips, you were looking at him with eyes full of desire.

“Changed your mind yet?” He leaned in again to nip at your lip and tug at it before pulling away as you tried to capture him in a kiss again. You knew he was looking for a verbal answer. “I could always send you back down to the others-”

“Okay!” you stopped him mid-sentence, a little embarrassed at how desperate you knew you sounded. You’d thought about him like this for a long time, and weren’t going to let this opportunity escape so quickly. “You win, you’re the better kisser.”

He grinned and rewarded you for that answer with another deep kiss, this time his hands beginning to roam more. They found purchase on your ass, giving it a good squeeze and eliciting a sharp yelp from you.

“God, that sounds even cuter than I expected,” he muttered as he began pushing you to step backwards. You tried to process his comment but before your brain could form a coherent thought he was slamming you into the wall and you didn’t care anymore, only wanting to think about now. He reached down beneath your skirt to your thighs and you didn’t need to be guided completely before you hopped up and he caught you, your legs wrapping tightly around his waist and arms around his neck as you explored his mouth now with your tongue. The man moaned at your eagerness, sending a chill down your spine as you realized you were already starting to soak through your clothes at how much Zoro turned you on.

Zoro moved one of his hands that was supporting your lower back even lower, coming up beneath you to feel at your center. He barked a short laugh into your kiss and pulled back enough to bring his mouth to your ear and groan, “you want me that badly already?” Slipping a finger past your panties, he ran it along your folds once before plunging it into you without warning, causing you to cry out and tighten your arms around his neck. “You’re not ready for me yet.”

He began curling his finger inside of you, and you immediately started grinding into him with the limited mobility you had in response. Each motion from him earned a mirrored one from you, and when he added a second and eventually a third finger, you thought might just die there on the spot. You were fucking his hand furiously, panting and whining without restraint as he was quickly about to send you over the edge.

“That’s right,” he breathed in between shallow pants of his own, getting worked up himself. “Be a good girl and cum for me,” at the swordsman’s words you snapped, letting out a primal moan as you tightened around him. For a second, everything around you went white, but you vaguely registered Zoro groaning deeply in response.

As you came down from your orgasm, you wearily looked up at Zoro’s face to see a ravenous smirk. “Tired already?” As he started lowering you down from the wall, you kept your arms loosely wrapped around his neck to help hold yourself up. You needed a minute, but you definitely weren’t done. Not if he was going to keep making you feel like that. Now standing even with him, you saw just how hard Zoro was – and let out a little gasp. He was still wearing his pants, but you could already see he was a monster.

Watching you admire him, Zoro’s smirk turned into a full blown grin. He grabbed your arms from around him and guided your hands flat to the wall behind you, turning you around and bending you over in the process. As you caught your breath you heard him unbuckling and undressing himself, and you felt your core already starting to heat again. His hands came back to your hips to hike your skirt up once again, and this time he also took a moment to remove your panties and expose you more completely. As you helped him kick them off you shuddered at the sudden coolness, then yelped as Zoro smacked your ass. The sound reverberated around the crow’s nest.

You turned your head back to get a good look at Zoro, who now was in full view. Even at this angle, you could see he was huge, with an impressive girth to match. But what made you whine was the feral look in his eyes as he began to position himself near your entrance.

“You think you’re ready now?” his already deep voice was an octave lower than usual, a shadow cast over his face. You shivered again. You nodded and mhm-ed.

He gripped your hips again with a new force, and you could already feel the bruises that would bloom there tomorrow. “I want to hear you say it. Say you want me more than that stupid cook.” He's still thinking about that? Sanji was the farthest thing from your mind right now. But he could’ve asked you to say anything and you would’ve obliged.

“Zoro,” you moaned, and he began pushing in just the tip. You waited for more but he stilled, so you kept talking. “You’re the only one on this ship I want.” He gave you another inch, and you started to squirm. He held your hips firmly in place. “I need you,” you looked back at him again pitifully and saw his eyebrow raise. He had an iron will and wasn’t going to budge until you said exactly what he wanted to hear.

“Zoro, please,” still nothing. “I need you to fuck me,” you could hear his breathing getting heavier, but he still only gave you another inch. It was getting harder to think, let alone speak. “I’ve always wanted you to fuck me, forget about Sanji, I’ve only wanted you,” you knew you’d hit his ego just right when he suddenly pushed the rest of the way into you, and for a moment your and mind and vision went blank as you adjusted to his size. Still you kept talking, and in your delirious desire you started spewing desperate nonsense.

“I know you’re the best on the ship, probably on the Grand Line,” he began moving now and the drag on your walls was driving you crazy. “Maybe even across all the seas.”

Satisfied with your groveling, Zoro started thrusting now, and soon your gibberish turned into wild moans. You'd expected him to be rough - and you were right. On particularly hard thrusts when he hit your most sensitive spot, you screamed out his name. Zoro was all grunts and huffs, your sounds pushing him to go even harder.

You were glad he’d already gotten one orgasm out of you, because you could tell Zoro had the stamina to go at this a while. After a particularly wanton moan from you, he slapped your ass again without breaking pace, much harder this time. You didn’t think you could possibly be more turned on by the man.

“Zoro, I’m,” words had become nearly impossible at this point, “getting close,” you squeaked as his grip on you tightened, “again.” You felt like your elbows might give out on you at any second.

Zoro moved his hands from your hips as he leaned over above you, wrapping one strong arm around your chest and bringing the other between your legs. Your back pressed into his chest now, and he brought his lips close to your ear and growled.

“So cum then,” he pressed his palm against your clit to apply extra pressure.

Again a mess at his command, you felt your cord snap completely as your second orgasm began to overtake you, even harder than the first. You clenched so tightly around him that Zoro felt his own breaking point approaching, pushing into you wildly as you rode out your high.

After a moment you felt Zoro stiffen around you, and with a few more uncontrolled thrusts he found his release, letting out a shameful moan into your ear as he emptied himself inside of you.

You both panted heavily, and you were glad he was holding you up. Slowly he began to straighten out, bringing you up with him before unsheathing himself. As you turned around to face him you felt your knees indeed buckle, Zoro quickly leaning in to catch you with one of his arms. Smirking as he realized you definitely weren’t walking for a while, Zoro helped to guide you down to the bench that lined the walls of the crow’s nest. After putting his pants back on, he began walking away and seemingly grabbed something on the other side of the room as you gained some of your composure and realized you were a complete mess. To be expected you supposed, but as the heat of the moment began to subside, you felt your self-consciousness rising.

“Here, let me help,” You looked up and he was in front of you again with a clean gym towel and water bottle he’d grabbed, and he now kneeled down to help you clean your legs. He was far gentler than you would’ve expected, and for the first time since you’d come up here you felt your cheeks heat again. You took the water from him gladly and chugged about half of it, embarrassed but also touched by his sweet aftercare gesture.

After cleaning away at least some of the mess, he took a seat on the bench next to you and gulped down the rest of the water. You couldn’t bring yourself to make eye contact, and weren’t quite sure what to say now. After a few moments, you mustered the courage to break the silence.

“So, um… I think it’s safe to say you were right.” Your words were met not by a verbal response, but instead by a soft weight hitting your shoulder. He’d already fallen asleep.

You giggled at the ridiculousness of it all: The quiet seas that had led you here. The silly game you never expected to end like this. Nami’s attempts to poke the bear. That you now realized… actually had worked.

After a while longer spent listening to Zoro’s soft snores, you figured he wasn’t waking up any time soon. You carefully lifted him from your shoulder and his head fell back against the wall without even a change of breathing – he really was a deep sleeper. You quickly gathered your clothes and threw them on, then began climbing down the ladder to the main deck to take a shower and retire to your own quarters. Thankfully, it was quiet now. It seemed the evening’s festivities had come to an end.

Right as you were about to make it back to your room, you caught the scent of tobacco hanging in the air.

“Hey, you disappeared earlier, everything alright?” Sanji took a long drag of his cigarette before he turned to look directly at you from where he was looking out over the water. Shit. Of everyone who could’ve still been up, he was the last person you wanted to see right now. “What happened?”

I’ve always wanted you to fuck me, forget about Sanji. You forced down the knot rising in your throat as the words you’d moaned to Zoro played back in your mind.

“Nothing happened.” You motioned the most convincing fake yawn you could muster. “Just decided to turn in early, and I’m up now to go to the bathroom! Goodnight, see you tomorrow!” It was the second time you’d used that excuse tonight. His eyes narrowed just enough that you knew he could tell you were lying, but you weren’t about to give anything else away. You gave him a short wave and scurried away to the girls’ room as fast as your wobbily legs would take you.

That was a problem for tomorrow. Tonight, you were ready to sleep.
