The unfortunate accident

Summary:

“Longbottom!” Snape snarled.

“I - I’m s-s-sorry s-sir,” the poor boy stuttered.

“Everyone to the hospital wing, now!” Snape started to say but then looked at Hermione Neville. “Except, you two,” he sneered.

“Why do I have to stay?!” Hermione whined.

“Because,” Snape hissed.

“Precisely,” Snape sniped.

Chapter Text

It happened on the spur of the moment. Hermione was in potions class and they were working on a complicated potion and everyone was on edge. She remembered because she kept on eying Neville who was nervously fiddling with the complicated potion.

Hermione’s eyes went wide with realization. They were bonded. “No,” she whispered.

“Precisely,”  Snape sniped.

She felt it and knew…She frowned and looked at Neville. She slowly backed away from her friend. “You doomed us!” She dropped to her knees. They were soul bonded. She felt it. How did she feel right away? It wasn’t as if she was friendly with Snape.

As if reading her thoughts, he glared at her. “It is because we were close by that we instantly felt the change,” he grimaced. “Congratulations Longbottom, you just earned an entire lifetime of dentitions,” he snarled at Neville.

“But-but -”

Snape interrupted Neville, “out of my sight!”

As Neville rushed out, Snape looked at Hermione and sighed. “Come, let’s get this over with,” he rushed out of the potion’s classroom which made Hermione struggle to keep up.

“There’s no way of fixing this, is there, sir?” Hermione asked while feeling out of breath.

"No," he whispered when they arrived at the Headmaster’s office.

Of course, there was no way of it it. “We’re doomed,” she whispered again. “doomed…Dooomed,” she kept on repeating until Snape spun around to shake her senseless.

“Get a grip, witch! What’s done is done, we have to keep on moving forward,” he muttered while inches away from her.

Her breath caught at the sight of him. She nodded. She did in fact need to get a grip.

After Snape knocked on the door, she heard The Headmaster call for them.

“Ah, Severus! And - “ The Headmaster paused when he noticed a very terrified Hermione trailing behind him. “Oh…” he muttered.

“OH?! IS THAT WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY TO ME, OLD MAN??!” Snape snapped.

“Alas, I’m out of words, speechless.”

Snape scoffed at The Headmaster’s comment. “A child did this, Albus! A child forced another child to become my soulmate! You think this is funny to you?”

“Oi! I am not a child!” Hermione yelled in defense.

“Was I laughing?” The Headmaster raised his right eyebrow. “Just calm yourself, my boy, and let’s talk through this like adults.”

“Sir,” Hermione said then jumped when she saw Snape’s reaction. “Is it -” She bit her lip.

“She doesn’t even trust me when I tell her it’s not reversible,” Snape scowled at The Headmaster. “How are we even supposed to coexist in the same room?” Snape’s eyes went wide with another thing that occurred to him. “When I get tortured, she will…” He started to pace the room while trying to think of ways to end this curse they were trusted upon.

“You get tortured?!” Hermione gasped. She knew of Snape’s involvement with the order, but she didn’t know that he’d get tortured.

Snape just glared at her.

“Let’s all just calm down,” The Headmaster was saying while Snape glared at Hermione. The Headmaster cleared his throat. “We all need a breather from today’s events. “Why don’t the two of you share Severus’s rooms,” Snape growled. “Here me out. You two can’t spend the night apart due to the soul bond. This will give you both time to cool off.”

“I’m not forcing myself upon a student of mine,” Snape grumbled.

“Like I want to,” Hermione scoffed.

“Well, it’s settled them, you both have the rest of the night to think this through and we will come back in the morning to discuss.”

“Fine,” they both said and left The Headmaster’s office.
