Chapter Text
10:00 AM – Kim Seokjin Residence
“Be good for Uncle Jin, Taehyung.”
The six-year-old only grins brightly at his father in response. He had hidden himself skillfully behind his favorite uncle’s legs so that his father couldn’t ruffle his hair or poke his cheeks. His father can only sigh at his child and his mischievous ways.
“If he gets too out of hand, let me know,” the child’s father continues. “Don’t spoil him too much, Seokjin.”
The man named Seokjin only laughs. He grins at the man and pats the precocious Taehyung on the head. Taehyung beams up at his favorite uncle. His father chuckles at how angelic Taehyung is for Seokjin and Seokjin only.
“Don’t worry too much, Namjoon. Go have fun on your business trip. Tae’s stayed with me before. Besides, it’s just a week.”
Namjoon scoops Taehyung up from behind Seokjin to give him an affection nuzzle. Taehyung giggles a little and presses a sticky kiss to his father’s cheek.
“Call me every day, ok?”
“I will, Appa! I’ll miss you lots!”
Namjoon kisses his son and hugs his step-brother before departing with final instructions for his son to behave. Seokjin waves him off with reassurances that he won’t spoil Taehyung too much. Taehyung only beams widely at the two adults.
The moment his father leaves, Taehyung turns to his uncle with a wide grin.
“Can we get burgers?”
3:00 pm – Kim Seokjin Residence
Seokjin smiles when he hears a knock at his front door. He immediately heads towards the door to let the person on the other side in. Taehyung remains undisturbed by the noise, choosing to focus on his afternoon cartoons and snacks, courtesy of his Uncle Jin.
Seokjin lets the person in, who immediately wraps his arms Seokjin with a small smirk.
“Hello, Princess,” the man whispers before placing a gentle kiss on Seokjin’s lips. “How’s your day been?”
Seokjin just laughs lightly. “Fine, fine.”
Only at the sound of voices does Taehyung’s attention turn away from the TV to the door of the apartment. He frowns at the man. Feeling confused, he runs over to apprehend him. The man is shorter than Seokjin, but taller than the six-year-old Taehyung. He has suspiciously pink hair, and he looks much too friendly with Uncle Jin for Taehyung to be happy. (His pink hair is very, very suspicious to Taehyung because pink is Uncle Jin’s favorite color, and Uncle Jin has said that he loves anything that is pink.)
“Who are you?” Taehyung demands immediately, scowling at the man.
“Who are you?” the man fires back immediately.
Seokjin smothers a laugh at the comical sight of his boyfriend staring down an obstinately frowning Taehyung. Seokjin’s tempted to sneak out his phone to take a picture of the encounter, but he doesn’t. But only because he doesn’t think that the shorter man or the child would appreciate it.
“I’m Seokjin’s boyfriend.”
“Well…I’m…I’m Uncle Jin’s favorite person.”
The pink-haired man raises an eyebrow at the child. The child mimics the gesture. Seokjin bites the inside of his mouth to keep from either laughing or cooing at the scene.
“Tae, this is Uncle Jin’s boyfriend, Uncle Yoongi. He’s going to be visiting us a lot,” he explains finally.
“Why?”
“Because we’re dating.”
“What’s dating?”
Seokjin ponders on how to explain to Taehyung what dating is.
“Well, TaeTae, when two people like each other very much and they want to be together, they date. Your Appa and Umma dated before they got married. Uncle Yoongi and I are dating because we like each other a lot, and we want to be together.”
Taehyung frowns. “Can I date you, Uncle Jin?”
Seokjin laughs and simply presses a kiss onto his nephew’s cheek.
“I don’t think Uncle Yoongi would like that,” he says, giggling.
“Uncle Yoongi would definitely not like that,” Yoongi grumbles.
Taehyung sticks his tongue out at Yoongi behind Seokjin’s back, and Yoongi is ready to swear up and down that Taehyung is the devil’s spawn.
He’s even more annoyed when said devil spawn smiles sweetly at Seokjin.
“Uncle Jin, I don’t want to marry anyone but you!”
“Aw, that’s so sweet, Tae. But you’re still too tiny!”
“I’m going to be the one who’s marrying Jin,” Yoongi mumbles under his breath.
“Did you say something?” Seokjin asks.
“No. Not at all.”
Taehyung only stares at Yoongi blankly with large brown eyes. Suddenly, he turns to Seokjin.
“Uncle Jin, can I have another kiss?”
“What’s the magic word?”
“Please?”
“Of course!”
Yoongi swears that the six-year-old smirks at him as Seokjin lands an exaggerated kiss on Taehyung’s cheek.
And there are only three things Yoongi cannot stand.
The first is children.
The second is people who hit on Seokjin.
And the third is this annoying child.
“Soo, how long is the munchkin staying here?”
“Oh, just a week until my brother gets back from his business trip.”
“What’s a…M-munchkin?” Taehyung asks, confused.
“It means small human,” Yoongi replies.
Taehyung squints at the man. “You’re also small.”
Yoongi has to restrain himself from swearing in front of said annoying munchkin.
And in that moment, both Taehyung and Yoongi feel that it will be a long week.
Seokjin only remains blissfully ignorant as he asks the two what they want for dinner.
6:00pm – Kim Seokjin Residence
Dinner is more or less all-out war.
Yoongi swears that Taehyung knows just exactly how much he’s pissing off Yoongi, but Seokjin only laughs and tells Yoongi not to look so dour. It’s not that Yoongi wants to look dour; he just can’t stand this child. He had no idea that Namjoon had a kid, and such an annoying kid to boot. Not that he even knows Namjoon that well, but he still can’t imagine how someone like Namjoon managed to spawn this devil child.
Taehyung, on the other hand, continues to plot exactly how to get this weird, short, annoying man away from his Uncle Jin. This angry man looks weird, and Taehyung doesn’t like him. His only redeeming quality is the color of his hair. Otherwise, Taehyung thinks that the man frowns too much to be with his smiling Uncle Jin.
And besides, Taehyung’s the one who’s supposed to be with his Uncle Jin.
Seokjin only smiles as he spoons more food onto the plates of his nephew and his boyfriend. He takes turn scolding the two. He scolds Yoongi for not eating enough and Taehyung for not eating seriously. He’s amused to see similar reactions from the two.
When dinner ends, the only happy person is Seokjin. Yoongi wonders how to get Namjoon back from his business trip, and Taehyung wonders how to annoy the pink-haired sour man away.
