Chapter Text

The information that a new family is moving to the village spred like wildfire.  Even more when the Metkayina people got to know that they are not from the same clan. “No way we’ll get along!”

Chief Tonowari tried to calm his people but it was hard, even if his people trusted him with their life. Ronal was the most sceptical of them all, but she always stayed by her husbands words, ain’t nothing changing that. “We’ll welcome them with open arms, show them our ways.”

When the Sully family arrived they surely were the middle of attention. Surrounded by the whole village as all of them were curious about them. “Jake Sully, Oel ngati kameie.” Sully family used the hand gesture to greet the chief back. There was a spark between Ronal and Neytiri, two of them being the most overprotective. But while this was happening  their children were just observing each other. No words except the hand greeting from Lo’ak and Neteyam to the son and daughter of Tonowari.

Beautifull eyes. That thought crossed not one, but all four of them. Unknowingly starting what neither of them expected.

That night Neteyam couldn’t sleep, so to not worry his family he waited to be the only one awake and then he sliped out of their Marui to go clear his head. The reef was so quiet at night, only a slight shum of waves could be heard so Neteyam was glad he went out. “Running away or what?”

Turning his head around, Neteyam noticed the boy whose eyes he really liked when he first saw him, was aproaching him on his Ilu. “I wasn’t, just on a night stroll.”

“Yeah, same as me I see.”

“By the way, I’m Neteyam.”

“Aonung.”

Silence. Neither knew what to say so they just stared at each other for a minute and then both just went their own ways, without any other word spoken.

Early in the morning Neteyam, Lo’ak, Kiri and Tuk were waiting by the beach for the children of Tonowari. They were forced to teach them the way of water to be part of their clan. “Let’s first swim and then we’ll decide what to do after.” Everyone agreed with Tsireya and so they dived in.

They all have been enthralled by all of the beauty seen in ocean. But they had to catch their breath almost every 30 seconds, also the sign language Tsireya, Rotxo and Aonung have been using, they could not understand. Aonung was quick to tease them about it, getting a little splash of water by his sister.

And so the squad sat down, telling them how to properly breath. “From here, your stomach. Not here, also your heart is going too fast!” Tsireya commented on Lo’ak’s technique as she put her hand on his abdomen. Not noticing his blushing face.

While that was happening, Aonung was glaring at the obvious love scene in front of him. Neteyam noticed that and slightly bumped his shoulder. “Show me as well.” A little hesitant, clearly annoyed but he still put his hand on a particular spot to lead his breathing. Finally focusing on something, someone, else.

“Show me again tonight, at the same place. Just us.” Neteyam suggested as Aonung nodded.
