Chapter Text
It was late at night when Wednesday grumpily marched down towards Weems’ office, as she was called during her reading time. She opened the heavy door without knocking and huffed, the Addams were friends with Larissa for so long it made them intimate enough that they could be openly impolite to each other.
“Whatever you think I did, it was Bianca.” The moment they stepped inside, Wednesday’s eyes widened comically and Weems had a shit-eating grin on her face.
“Good to know, I’ll be sure to inform Ms. Barclay of the fencing records she br-” Wednesday lifted a finger towards the woman as she stared at the two figures in front of her.
“Don’t you dare.” Without shifting her gaze, she asked the taller girl that smiled at her. “What are you doing here?”
Amber tilted her head to the side like a puppy.
“Aww Wendy, aren’t you happy to see me?” Wednesday sighed and looked at Weems, waiting for an explanation.
“Ms. Freeman and Ms. Carpenter require a place to stay for a certain amount of time.” Wednesday’s eyes twitched. “And I know of you and Ms Freeman’s… something-ship,” the Addams clenched her jaw, “so I’m setting them up in Ophelia Hall for the time being.” Wednesday’s gaze turned murderous.
“What about Enid? We have everything set up-”
“I’m sure Ms. Sinclair is perfectly capable of getting along with them. She got along with you after all.” Wednesday huffed like a dragon, then spun around and left the room with the two girls following her. “I don’t know who you’ve killed this time, but you can’t show up like this.”
Tara’s interest was peaked, she liked the implication that Amber had always been this murderous. The girl in question just snickered.
“God, so grumpy. I thought I was your favorite person in the world, Wendy.”
Wednesday spun around so fast Amber almost bumped on them. They grabbed her shirt’s lapel menacingly.
“ You moved halfway across the country, you left me . I have every right to be upset. Especially since you managed to find a carbon copy of me to replace me.” Tara eyed the interaction, Amber had warned her Wednesday was intense, rude and violent and to not intervene. Amber sighed and rolled her eyes.
“So dramatic. I had no choice, you know this.”
“We told you you could’ve stayed with us.”
Amber shook her head.
“As much as we don’t like each other, they are my parents, and they would never let me stay with your family. They hate you.” Wednesday finally let go of her shirt, turning her gaze towards Tara, making Amber roll her eyes again. “This is Tara, my girlfriend, she helps me, and the freaky twin thing is a weird coincidence. Doesn’t mean I don’t like it, though.” The tiny girl waved awkwardly. “She’s my no-no.” Wednesday tilted her chin up at that.
“Enid’s my no-no.” Amber nodded.
They walked a few more steps before Wednesday talked again.
“What did you do that you needed to come all this way to Nevermore?”
“Amber wanted to make a movie.” Tara was the one who replied, and Wednesday furrowed her brows.
“A movie?!” Her tone was judgy.
“Not just a movie, the movie. So we acted it out.” Amber explained.
The Addams shot her a look of disappointment.
“So you took the first rule, get rid of evidence, and flipped it around. You filmed yourself?” Amber sighed and rolled her eyes yet again.
“It hurts me that you think I’m this stupid. No, silly, we didn’t film ourselves, we acted the movie out, made the ending we wanted, it got on all the major news outlets and soon some hot-shot film studio is gonna come running to ask us to turn it into the next Stab blockbuster.”
Wednesday quietly turned to Tara.
“I’ve always known she had a thing about getting her fifteen minutes of fame, but what was in it for you?” Tara simply shrugged.
“My family. I wanted them dead. And my ex, too.” Wednesday nodded. “Plus, Amber is really hot when she’s in her element.” Wednesday clicked her tongue.
“That I agree with.” The two newcomers giggled at that. “But I still don’t see why you require shelter.”
“Well, like I said, our little stunt made it to national news, and you know, the more people poke the easier it is to find holes in a story.” Amber explained.
“That’s when the story sucks.”
“Fuck off, Addams. Anyways, we don’t want people asking questions and I don’t want my parents knowing where I am.”
“So this is big enough to draw vultures’ attention?”
Amber couldn’t fight the smile that appeared on her face.
“Oh, baby, it was a show alright!”
Wednesday sighed and stopped, turning to face the girl with annoyance.
“How many people did you kill, Amber?” She started counting on her fingers, but Tara spoke before she could finish.
“Twelve.”
“TWELVE?! Did the maggots on your brain finally eat the last of it, Amber?!” She just put her arms around Wednesday’s shoulders and giggled.
“I know you would’ve loved to have been there.”
Wednesday just glared at her for a moment, before sighing and resuming the walk to their bedroom.
Once there, Wednesday opened the door without any warning, and Enid jumped.
“Oh, Willa, what did Weems wa-”
“Enid, we have guests.” Wednesday interrupted, letting the two figures enter the room.
“O-oh. Hi-hi?!” Enid tried to be her usual cheery self, but her confusion shone through.
Amber looked around the room and snorted at the realization of who Wednesday had a crush on. The tiny goth glared at the taller one.
“Not one fucking word out of your filthy mouth.”
She then spotted Thing on the bed and they happily greeted each other.
Enid was looking from one girl to the other, still very much confused, when Tara walked closer and extended her hand.
“Hi, I’m Tara and this is my girlfriend Amber, she’s friends with Wednesday, so your headmaster told us to bunk with you until we go back home.”
Enid frowned a bit at hearing Wednesday has a friend , a childhood friend at that, but tried to hide it.
“Oh, alright. I’m Enid, and I think it’s important to mention that I’m a werewolf.” She extended her claws and popped her ears, which made Tara gasp and quickly start scratching them. The two girls giggled in delight and Amber, who was standing next to Wednesday, chuckled at the scene.
“I guess our girls are getting along.”
Wednesday huffed and walked to their bed.
“Enid’s not my girl.”
“Yeah, sure, she’s just your no-no.” Amber followed them to their bed and the tiny goth shot her a glare as they opened their book.
“We ought to find a less idiotic name for that.”
“I like it, reminds me how long we’ve been on this.”
“Still baffles me your parents are none the wiser.”
Amber chuckled.
“Oh they know about it alright, but they’re pretending they don’t have a freak for a daughter. Works for me, works for them.”
Wednesday clicked their tongue.
“Works so fine you had to come to me to hide.” Amber rolled her eyes for the umpteenth time as she laid on her stomach and started playing with one of Wednesday’s braids.
“You know I’d always find you.”
From across the room, Enid was happily chatting with Tara. The likeness to Wednesday was absurd, but with the warmth that lacked on the goth. Then, from the corner of her eye, she saw Amber laying down and twirling one of Wednesday’s braids on her fingers and Wednesday not even batting an eye. Enid immediately frowned at it, and Tara noticed, looking at the pair.
“Is everything okay?” Enid quickly whipped her head back to Tara, as if she hadn’t noticed what she had just done.
“Oh, yeah, yeah, it’s just that Wednesday never lets anyone this close to them, and definitely doesn’t let them touch her braids . I was just afraid she might do something to your girlfriend.”
Tara shook her head with a smile.
“Don’t worry about Amber, she can take care of herself. And from what she told me, they were pretty close.”
Enid frowned again.
“She never mentioned her.” They both looked at the pair, Amber had a teasing smile plastered on her face and Wednesday had an annoyed expression, but they seemed close. Too close , Enid thought.
Suddenly, Wednesday pushed Amber off the bed with a loud thump.
“Seesh, so grumpy.” Amber exclaimed and Wednesday huffed.
“It’s late, let’s get ready for bed. The bathroom is that way,” the Addams pointed to a door in the corner of their room, “if you wish to bathe and brush your teeth before sleeping. I’m going to get you some towels.”
As Wednesday looked for clean towels, Amber and Tara rummaged through their backpacks for some pajamas, walking to the bathroom when they found it.
“Hey, here.” Enid quickly handed them a new soap, just as Wednesday came carrying the towels.
“The water is limited, so don’t waste it. There’s only two temperatures, so deal with it. You can use my things if you want. I think it’s clear what belongs to who.” They looked at the bottles of shampoo and conditioner, half of them bright pink and half completely black.
“Thanks Wendy.”
“Call me that in front of anyone else and you’ll find yourself missing your tongue.” Amber cooed.
“Aww, love you too, hissing kitten.” Wednesday growled at that and stepped away only to enter the room again.
“Oh and Amber?” The girl turned around to look at her. “The walls are fucking thin.” Amber smirked at what Wednesday meant.
“Don’t worry, Wendy, I’m well aware.”
Enid and Wednesday sat awkwardly on the tip of their own beds, quietly waiting for their turns in the bathroom. Occasionally they would hear a laugh or curse that made Enid become a tomato and Wednesday want to punch the wall, but neither said anything.
When the couple finally arrived back at the dorm, Amber frowned upon seeing the two roommates exactly as they left them.
“Do you sleep in your day-to-day clothes?”
“We were waiting to change in the bathroom.” Enid explained and Amber scoffed.
“You've been roommates for over a year and you don’t change in front of each other?” Enid looked away, embarrassed, and Wednesday just growled as she stood up.
“Stay in your own business, Freeman.”
“Sorry, guys, we would’ve gone faster if we had known.” Tara sheepishly added.
Once everyone was ready to sleep, a matter arose.
“Sooo, how are we doing this?” Amber asked and Wednesday scoffed.
“As we can see, Weems is an imbecile, but it’s far too late to request a mattress. You can sleep on my bed, I’ll make do on the floor.” Enid gasped loudly at this.
“No way, Willa! You’ll sleep with me then.” Wednesday’s face contorted itself and they tried to hide their blush with their bangs.
“That’s absurd. Nothing in the world can make me sleep in that hurricane of unicorn vomit.” Enid frowned and Amber let out a quiet chuckle.
“Same.”
They stayed in silence for a moment, trying to come up with a solution. Then, Tara shyly took a step closer to Enid.
“Well, if it’s okay, I could bunk with Enid and Amber with Wednesday.” Enid opened her mouth to protest - what exactly she didn’t know -, but Amber beat her to it.
“Sounds good to me.” Wednesday shrugged.
“It’s decent.”
Enid frowned and looked at Tara.
“But don’t you wanna sleep with your girlfriend?” Tara shrugged.
“We’re guests here, I sleep with Ambs every night and I bet we’ll find a better solution tomorrow, so it’s fine. Plus, they both seem pretty dead set on staying away from color.” Enid pouted as Tara turned away to say goodnight to Amber.
After a moment in silence and in the dark, Enid hears Wednesday.
“Freeman, undo my braids.” Enid’s ears perk up at that.
“Don’t you want me to do it, Weds?” She asked, but didn’t get the answer she was hoping for.
“It’s okay, E, Amber knows how to do it.”
Enid pulled the covers over her head with a growl.
The next morning, Enid woke up earlier than she had ever done, with Wednesday following right behind. With the commotion, Tara and Amber also ended up waking up.
Enid was haphazardly gathering her things, even going as far as doing her makeup in less than 10 minutes, and Wednesday was just finishing doing her braids as the wolf swung her backpack over her shoulder. The tiny goth was a bit dizzy, she wasn’t used to this much energy in the morning, Enid usually acted much like a zombie when she woke up.
“Okay, Wednesday and I are going to class now, you two are free to stay here or walk around a bit with Thing, although I wouldn’t advise that, these hallways can get pretty tricky.” Enid smiled at their guests and motioned towards the door, but Wednesday interrupted her.
“Enid, we still have over twenty minutes until the bell rings, I ought to take them to Weems to see what kind of arrangement we’ll have.”
The blonde’s shoulders slumped with a sigh and Amber eyed the interaction with curiosity. Wednesday turned to her and made a motion for her to hurry up.
“C’mon Freeman, get you and your pet ready, we gotta go.”
As Tara was about to walk past Wednesday to reach the bathroom, she eyed the goth with intensity.
“I’m not her pet. Don’t call me that again.”
Wednesday raised an eyebrow at Amber when the tinier girl entered the bathroom, and Amber smirked at them.
“You didn’t think I’d settle with someone cute and harmless, did you?”
“Definitely not.”
From the corner of the room, Enid watched them with jealousy in her eyes.
As they walked towards Weems’ office, Amber and Tara hand in hand and Enid leading them, the taller goth swung her free arm over Wednesday’s shoulder. Enid eyed them and her wolf growled when Wednesday didn’t bat an eye.
“So, what kind of kooky little classes do you have here?”
“A watered-down version of my Addams education. It’s honestly a waste of my intellect.”
“Then why are you here?” Tara asked.
“It was a nefarious plan by the hands of my own kin. They wanted me to,” she did air quotes, “ “have the experience of being among those like me”. Unfortunately it worked.”
Then, Enid stopped and turned around, right on the tiny goth’s face.
“Wednesday, did you just call me stupid?”
They frowned slightly.
“I’m lost, Enid.”
“If this is all a “waste of your intellect” and I think the classes are perfectly hard, then it must mean you think I’m dumb.”
Wednesday’s eyes widened in panic.
“Enid, that’s not what-” The blonde stomped away.
“Whatever.”
After a second, Amber chimed in.
“That girl is spending way too much time on twitter, that’s the only place people say one sentence and everyone makes up another hundred.”
Wednesday scoffed and pushed Amber’s arm off of her, angrily continuing their way to the office.
Tara lightly hit Amber in the stomach.
“Stop it, leave them alone.” Amber rolled her eyes as they followed the Addams.
The two newcomers stepped out of the office to study their schedules, but Wednesday hung back.
“Do I need to inform my parents of the extra tuition or have you spoken to them?” Weems chuckled.
“That’s not needed, Wednesday. Consider it a favor.”
“I’m wary of people that grant favors without asking for something in return.”
The headmaster leaned back on her chair.
“I guess you could make an effort to not cause mayhem while they are here.”
Wednesday did her equivalent of a snort and raised an eyebrow.
“You do realize who Amber is, right?” Weems smirks.
“I’m perfectly aware of Ms. Freeman’s… tendencies. And Ms. Carpenter’s for that matter. The angelic face doesn’t fool me. Consider this a valuable lesson for you all to learn.”
Wednesday sighed tiredly, she was so done with having to answer to an authority figure. She simply turned around and left without another word.
Walking past the couple waiting in the hallway, Wednesday stated:
“I need to find Enid. I’ve upset her and I need to apologize.”
“The Wednesday I knew never apologized for anything.”
The taller goth said and the tiny one didn’t bother to turn around.
“The Wednesday you knew didn’t have a no-no as well. Now walk faster so I can explain the situation to the teacher.”
After talking to the teacher, the trio entered the room and Wednesday noticed Enid sitting with Yoko, Divina and Bianca. Their gazes met and Wednesday tilted her head in a way only Enid could understand, ‘are you serious?’ was what the goth was silently asking. Enid dramatically crossed her arms in front of her and turned her face away from her roommate and former lab partner. Wednesday internally rolled her eyes as she guided the couple to their seats.
After the class, Wednesday tried to talk to Enid again, but the blonde had already vanished. I should never have taught her how to do that.
Once at the quad, they hoped to find their, ugh , friend group to introduce the two girls, and hopefully also talk to Enid. But she had no such luck, not even Xavier or Ajax were around.
They sat on a bench, Wednesday clearly upset, so once more Amber put her arm around the Addams’ shoulder and leaned closer to her with a smirk.
“I know what we can do to let your frustrations out.” She showed them a big hunter’s knife, one Tara was too familiar with. Wednesday eyed the item. Not even half a day and we’ll break the promise I made to Weems’. I guess I didn’t actually agree to it.
“The offer is tempting, but Jericho is a half hour trip from here and a student can’t vanish without raising some eyebrows.” Amber playfully snorted at that.
“Oh, baby, you underestimate us. Right, babe?” She turned to Tara, who was mindlessly scrolling on her phone, or so Wednesday thought.
“William Barker, second year at Nevermore. Changed schools after he was sued for almost drowning a kid as a prank. Most likely paid the judges off. His only friends are Grant Davis and Miles Brown, and together they are known to cry wolf as pranks. Barker has fled school grounds twice before and his parents only talk to him in social events, their last call was 8 months ago.” Tara finally looked up to show them a picture, and she met Wednesday’s eyes, which were slightly widened. “No matter the fuss, no one will be able to prove anything. Or have the interest to.”
Amber smiled proudly and pulled Tara in for a kiss.
“God, I love you so much.” Then she turned to her fellow goth. “See? It’s all figured out, don’t worry.”
“Weems will know. She knows what we are.”
“What, gay? Well duh.”
“No, you dumbass, compulsive murderers.”
“Even me?” Tara asked.
“Unfortunately Larissa has a knack for these things. Plus she has known us both since we were little.” Amber snorted.
“ Were ?”
“I will gut you like a fish and William Barker will live to see another day.” Amber laughed and kissed Wednesday’s cheek, making the Addams shoot her a death glare, but no protest came.
“I guess looking like you won’t help me here.” Tara joked.
“Yes. And we can’t go around killing people at any minor inconvenience we face.” Wednesday stated and Amber clicked her tongue.
“Disagree.”
“Yeah, we can actually. Jericho has a population of around 15 thousand inhabitants, and on average 5,5% of a population goes missing every year, meaning 750 people, that’s over two people a day.” Tara spewed like it was nothing.
Wednesday blinked at that, a rare feat for her. She then turned to Amber.
“I despise her. She must meet Mother and Father, you’re coming with us on our next holiday.” Amber laughed loudly at that and pulled the tiny girl into a tight hug.
“Oh my quirky little black cat, I love you!”
“Let me go if you don’t want to lose a finger.”
“Just a finger?! You’re going soft on me, Addams!”
Wednesday was currently squating on a tree branch a few meters off the ground, while Amber was hidden in a bush nearby and Tara watched with binoculars from a little further away. They waited for their prey, William Barker, to walk by them. Tara had shared he seemed to have some kind of crush on a girl, and Wednesday quickly forged a note pretending to be her asking to meet in the woods. Granted, she thought the tactic was childish and amateuristic, but it worked on teenagers that only thought about sex.
After a couple of minutes, the boy wandered into their view, distracted by his phone. Then, Tara came walking calmly towards him, but as he saw her face, he took a step back.
“Addams?” Tara rolled her eyes.
“Oh, c’mon, do you really think Wednesday would be wearing this?” She pointed to her light blue jeans and pink shirt.
“Then who are you?”
“New student. But class was boring so I decided to take a stroll, you know, get to know the place.” She smiled sweetly and the boy relaxed a bit.
“Yeah, I do that all the time.”
“Really?” He shrugged and Tara was now incredibly close to him with a sickeningly sweet smile. From afar, Amber pretended to be gagging and Wednesday nodded in agreement. “Well, are you alone?” The boy scratched the back of his neck.
“Uhm, technically, but I was supposed to meet someone here.” Tara stepped back and feigned disappointment.
“Your girlfriend?”
“Oh, no! Not at all.”
She walked closer to him again and Wednesday was getting tired of the game.
“Oh, good then, ‘cause I thought you were so handsome when I saw you.” He smirked.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
“Cool, you’re really hot too.” She smiled once again and he continued. “So, do you wanna do something with me right now?”
She practically skipped to his side at this, and as he smirked, Tara smiled even wider.
“I do, in fact.”
“Nic-”
“This.” She buried the knife deep in his gut, and as his eyes widened, Wednesday jumped on top of the boy, burying their own knife in his shoulder and dragging it downwards. Then, Amber came from his side and stabbed him in the middle of his ribs, effectively puncturing his lung.
As the attack progressed, all that could be heard from the boy was a gurgling sound, one Wednesday loves. As they felt him slipping, the trio rushed to stand on top of his head, waiting for the life to slip from his eyes. When it did, the couple giggled, and Wednesday sighed heavily, relieved.
“So, how are you feeling?” Tara asked.
“It’s been so long since I’ve done this.”
“I can see, you really went at him.” Amber commented and Wednesday nodded.
“But answering the question, I feel much better.”
“Good.” The taller girl replied.
“I still must talk to Enid, but now my emotions are in check again.”
Amber groaned and Tara rolled her eyes at her girlfriend.
“Don’t be a homophobe, let them make up.”
“Fine, but they better make out as well.” Wednesday shot her a death glare.
“C’mon, let’s go get washed up in the river before anyone sees us.”
“Can’t we wait a bit?” Tara asked sheepishly and Wednesday squinted their eyes at her, making the girl quickly glance at her girlfriend. “Please, she looks really hot like this.” Wednesday huffed.
“Unfortunately I must agree. But not here.”
The next thing they knew, Tara was pushing Amber against a tree, and Wednesday was trying to not pay attention. The girls locked lips and nibbled on each other’s necks and pulled each other’s hair.
After a few minutes, the noises stopped and Wednesday felt the pair getting closer to her. Like usual, Amber swung her arm over the goth’s shoulders.
“Don’t you want a kiss too?”
Wednesday widened her eyes at that, caught completely off guard.
“I know not even you can resist me covered in blood.”
The Addams’ pupils dilated and she glanced at Tara, who had a small smirk on her lips.
“It’s okay, we talked about this before coming here.” Wednesday whipped her gaze back to Amber, brows furrowed slightly, asking for an explanation.
“C’mon, Wendy, we both know we were never getting over each other. We might fall in love with other people, but we’re in a different category, we get each other on a cellular level.”
Wednesday let herself visibly gulp, then let her gaze fall to Amber’s lips. The taller girl leaned forward, and then cupped the back of Wednesday’s head as they kissed. Amber quickly dipped down to bite on Wednesday’s neck.
After a minute, they separated, but Wednesday’s eyes were glazed. She then looked at Tara, also covered in blood, and couldn’t help but grab the girl by her shirt and pull her close. She waited for her to do the next move, and Tara felt Amber pushing her head closer to Wednesday’s. They locked lips and Wednesday had to fight the urge to push the girl against a tree.
After a moment, she forced herself to get out of her trance and end the kiss. Wiping her mouth, Wednesday avoided Amber’s shit-eating grin and turned around.
“Let’s clean ourselves up and get back before someone comes looking for us.”
They managed to arrive just before dinner, and this time Enid and their friends were sitting at a table together. Wednesday marched to Enid’s side, catching the girl's attention.
“May we have a conversation?” Enid sighed before looking at the goth, who was ignoring the rest of the table.
“I don’t feel like it.” Wednesday used all her strength to not roll her eyes.
“Let’s just settle this at once.”
“I said I don’t feel like talking to you right now. Go back to your posse.” The whole table was quietly watching them.
“They’re my friends, Enid.”
The blonde then pulled on Wednesday’s lapel, revealing the hickey Amber gave her.
“Whatever you say, Wednesday.”
“Fine.” They marched away with Amber and Tara following her.
Wednesday was pacing in circles in their dorm, and had practically thrown every single knife she owned on the wooden door.
“She’s infuriating!” Amber held out her own knife to the goth when she had thrown the last of hers. “Why is she being such a drama queen?!”
As the Addams continued her frustrated rant, Tara stepped out onto the balcony, quickly spotting a lonely figure in the quad. Walking back inside, she grabbed her phone and opened the dorm’s door.
“I’ll be right back, guys.” Wednesday barely batted an eye, but Amber squinted, knowing her girlfriend was up to something.
Tara quietly walked to the now empty quad - pentagon , Wednesday would argue - and beelined towards the only other figure there. When Enid saw her on the corner of her eye, the wolf sighed, annoyed, and Tara put her hands up.
"I come in peace."
"Did she send you?"
"Nope, saw you from the balcony." Enid eyed it and huffed, she should've known better.
"And what do you want?"
"To talk. I know you're not upset just about what Wednesday said in the morning."
Enid picked at her nails.
"I know how you look at her, it's the same way I looked at Amber." Enid didn't dare make eye contact.
"How did you… become more?" Tara scratched the back of her beck.
"Amber may or may not have stabbed a guy that was harassing me and I may or may not have found it incredibly hot." Enid sighed.
"Should've known, with her being friends with Weds and all."
Tara caught the little scrunch her nose did at the word 'friends'.
"I've killed for Wednesday. Wednesday has killed for me. Isn't that supposed to be the epitome of romance then?"
"I think normally it’s getting yourself killed for your lover that's considered more romantic." The tiny girl chuckled and Enid shook her head.
“Then why are we still doing this dance, this will-they-won’t-they thing? People even make bets about us!”
“Well, from what I’ve seen, Wednesday is different, she talks different, she walks different, she dresses different, so I assume she deals with her feelings differently.”
“That’s true.”
“And I think you’re the closest person to them-”
“Except apparently Amber.” Enid rolled her eyes and Tara chuckled lightly.
“I know Amber falling out of the sky like this isn’t the greatest scenario, but she cares for Wednesday, to the point that she’ll back off if it means not getting between you and them. She knows you’re important to Wednesday.”
Enid pulled her legs up and hugged them.
“But how does she know? We only met yesterday.” Tara smirked.
“You’re their no-no.” Enid furrowed her brows.
“What?”
“It’s what they call it. Each of them choses a person that absolutely cannot be harmed, they’re completely off limits. I’m Amber’s.” Enid raised her head at this.
“And I’m Wednesday’s?” Tara nodded.
“Yeah, they told us when we arrived.”
Enid blushed wildly and hid her face on her legs once more, and Tara continued.
“Wednesday is not gonna leave you. And back to what I was saying earlier, I think they don’t know how to express their feelings for you, or are scared you won’t reciprocate. At least that’s what I felt when I was pining after Amber, I would rather have her as just a friend than to not have her, you know?” Enid nodded.
“I feel the same. I think I would die if I didn’t have Wednesday in my life. Both metaphorically and literally, I’m a very clumsy wolf.” They both chuckled at that and Tara bumped their shoulders.
“Then why are you refusing to talk to her?”
Enid sighed.
“Drama.” Tara shook her head. “Wanted them to be as bothered as I was.”
“Well, it sure worked, I think they’re about to make a hole in your dorm from pacing.” Enid laughed at the mental image.
“Is she throwing knives?”
“Absolutely.”
“That’s my Weds.”
They stayed in silence a while more and Enid’s face took on a somber expression.
“Who gave her that hickey?” Tara opened and closed her mouth like a fish, searching for the right way to tell the blonde. She settled on honesty.
“Amber did.” A growl came from deep within Enid and Tara sighed. “I know, okay? But Wednesday needed a distraction and we got carried away.”
“Did it need to be that distraction?”
“It was more of a consequence of the planned distraction.” Enid was still glaring daggers at her.
“I didn’t even know Wednesday liked that.”
“I don’t know anything about that, but listen, you can’t hold it against her, you don’t have anything official. You can’t expect Wednesday to sit quietly until you have the courage to say something. Same thing goes for them, they can’t demand anything from you if you haven’t talked about it.” Enid huffed again. “I know it’s hard, Amber was a little player and it was hell to see her with other people, but I couldn’t be mad about it. The way I see it, you kinda only have one option.”
“And that is?”
“Listen to them and tell them how you feel.” Enid let out a whine.
“But what if it’s just the Addams way and they don’t actually feel anything romantic for me? Wednesday has told her mother over and over that she won’t fall in love.”
“Enid, they wouldn’t shut up about apologizing to you, it was so annoying.” Another whine from the blonde.
“But what if-”
“Look, if they don’t feel the same, I’ll be here to pick up your pieces, okay? Do we have a deal?” Tara extended her hand and Enid shook it after a beat. Then, Tara skillfully intertwined their fingers.
She was about to get up and pull Enid with her, but the wolf tugged her back.
“Can you just- can we stay here for a little bit, so I gather my courage?” Tara gave her a soft smile and sat back down.
“Of course.”
Around ten minutes later, they found their way back to the dorm, and as soon as they stepped inside, Amber smirked.
“So, is my girlfriend an excellent kisser: yes or of course?” Enid rolled her eyes and Tara scowled.
“Shut up Amber.” She walked towards her girlfriend, who was propped up against the headboard of Wednesday’s bed, while its owner, who had been laying down, stood up.
“Enid.” Their eyes were full of anguish, and the blonde looked away, embarrassed.
“Can we talk, Weds?”
“There’s nothing I’d like more than that.”
“Gay!” Amber shouted from the bed and Tara slapped her shoulder half seriously, giving her an angry glare. “Sheesh, everyone’s so grumpy today.”
“Do you want us to go?” Tara asked Enid, and Amber pouted.
“But babe, I’m curious!”
“It doesn’t matter, hun. Enid?”
“It’s okay, I bet Amber would just eavesdrop anyway.” Enid glared at the girl, who just winked.
“I’m sorry, mon loup. I did not mean to offend your intellect, Addams education is just simply more intense. I’m aware most people only come into contact with these subjects here, rather than from birth. That is why the Addams are frowned upon, after all.” Enid nodded.
“I know, I was only looking for a reason to pick a fight.” Wednesday tilted their head slightly.
“Why?”
Enid took a deep breath and glanced at Amber, who had her back towards them, no doubt Tara’s doing.
“Because I was frustrated.” Wednesday tilted their head to the other side and Enid continued. “With you. But it’s my own fault.”
“Go on.”
“I wanted things from you without asking or making the sacrifices they required.”
“I don’t follow.”
Enid sighed and took Wednesday’s hand on her own.
“I want you, Wednesday Friday Addams. I want you by my side, forever. I want to go on crazy adventures with you and I want to live in your crazy Addams world.”
“Enid, I don’t und-”
“Oh for fucks’ sake, Wednesday!” Amber yelled from the bed, still with her back to them. “The girl is gay for you. There, do you understand now?”
“Geez, Ambs.” Tara whispered and Wednesday faced Enid once more.
“Is that what you mean, mi sol?” Enid scratched the back of her neck.
“Y-yeah, it is. I wanna spend my life with you, Willa.”
Wednesday tilted her chin up.
“Are you sure? I’m possessive, obsessive, stubborn, brutally honest and homicidal. I don't intend on changing, and Addams love is eternal, all-consuming.”
Enid chuckled at the goth, she really did love her.
“Yes, Wednesday, those are all reasons I love you. I’m ready for the Addams’ curse.” Wednesday couldn’t contain her small smile.
“Then I suppose we’re officially courting each other.” Enid smiled widely.
“Does this mean I get a kiss?” Wednesday rolled their eyes playfully.
“Yes, fine.” They locked lips immediately after. “Enid, I can’t kiss you if you don’t stop smiling.”
“I’m sorry, I’m just so happy!”
“Then no kisses for you.”
“Aww, c’mon Willa!”
Then suddenly they heard rushed whispers.
“No, Amber! Amber, no!”
Amber raised her hand like she was in class, and Tara was desperately trying to pull her arm back down, and was failing miserably.
“Question.”
“Amber!”
The taller goth continued despite her girlfriend’s protests.
“Is this an exclusive thing or can we join in?” Enid became red as a tomato and Wednesday huffed.
“I’m not discussing this with you here, Freeman. I’ll talk to Enid in private.”
“God, you’re so boring.” A knife came flying and got stuck on the wall a few centimeters away from Amber's face, who didn’t even flinch. She grabbed the handle and pulled it off the wall. “I’m keeping this.”
Enid was now hugging Wednesday’s middle and sporting a goofy smile, and Amber stood up.
“Okay, can we go get our mattress now?”
“Baby, can’t you let them be for a moment?” Tara asked and Amber smirked.
“Not when they refused to give me kisses, Tar-bear.” The three others rolled their eyes at her.
“Well, I’ll go tell Yoko the news while you sort the mattress thing out, then.”
“I’m sure we could use some of that wolf strength, you know.” Amber shot as Enid was about to step out of the room.
“I’m sure you can handle it, Nancy Downs.” And with a wink she was gone.
“Let’s just get this over with.” Tara pleaded as she marched out the room.
They were back ten minutes later, no mattress in sight, and that’s the first thing Enid noticed when she came back to the dorm an hour and a half later.
“What happened? Don’t tell me you three couldn’t carry it by yourselves?!” She smirked and Wednesday glared at her.
“Weems wasn’t in her office, or anywhere else we looked. You’re not the only strong one here.”
“They’re talking about me.” Amber, who was laying on Wednesday’s bed, said without looking up from her phone.
“We’ll see about that, psycho.” Enid whispered to herself.
Because of this, they ended up sleeping in the same arrangement as the previous night. This time though, Enid exchanged her plushie for a certain brand new tiny latina, and Wednesday let herself inhale the coppery smell of Amber’s skin as the girl hugged her middle and rested her head on top of the Addams’.
