Tricks or Cheer

Summary:

When strange occurrences start happening around the North Pole of the -- spooky nature -- a certain holiday spirit is brought in to help calm things down. Notes:

Greetings mortals!
I wanted to post this first "chapter" as a sort of quick teaser of the story, the intro so to speak to gauge interest in me posting them. Let me know what you think!

Chapter 1: Auld Lang Syne

Chapter Text

Tricks or Cheer

It was the start of the busy season for the North Pole when things started to go haywire. It started off small, almost unnoticeable. Things moved across the room when you turned your back, a knock here and there when there was no one else in the room, and then a specter flew straight through the workshops in the middle of the day before vanishing just as quickly as it had appeared. Scott called a meeting of the Legendary Figures immediately.

“Is it crazy that I didn’t think spirits existed until I saw the one in the workshop?” He sank into his chair and ran a hand over his face. “I mean, sure, I became Santa Claus but ghosts and ghouls were the furthest things from my mind.”

“The spirit realm isn’t something any of us normally have contact with so it's not surprising you didn’t know about it yet, Santa” Mother Nature sighed. “Though it’s odd, things like that aren’t usually so active.”

The Tooth Fairy seemed to shuffle a bit. “I think it's because – she hasn’t been here to take care of things for a while. I mean when was the last time she’s been called on to take care of the North Pole?”

“Wait, who is she and what do you mean take care of the North Pole?” Scott turned to look at Bernard who looked as equally confused. “Was there someone that I should have been calling on to do something up here?”

“I – not that I knew of, Santa.” The Head Elf shook his head, his brows furrowing in confusion. “It's got nothing to do with the Elves, and if it's something that even I don’t know about whatever it is really hasn’t been done in a long time.”

Scott turned to look at the others. “So, who is she and how do I get ahold of her?”

“Ellara –” Mother Nature said solemnly. “The Guardian of Samhain and the Veil between worlds. She’s someone I don’t think any of us have reached out to in centuries.”

“Speak for yourself.” The Tooth Fairy huffed slightly. “Ellara and I are actually pretty close. Halloween does create a lot of work for me and she’s usually pretty active around that time of year so we see each other often. I can get her up here, just give me a few days.”
