Chapter Text

When Jenny Burton first met Chuck Bartowski it wasn’t an ordinary day. Well, it was for her, her father had just swindled some poor sucker. The part of the day however which wasn’t ordinary was when she went home to find her father being arrested. Her day only went weirder when she was met by a man from the C.I.A. She had thought this was her way out, they would help her escape a life of petty crime and she could reinvent herself. However, on her first mission, she realised that maybe it wouldn’t be as easy as she thought. It should have been a simple mission really, all she had to do was protect the President, there was no intel to say that there were any threats. It should have been easy, especially since all she had to do was stay in the van, which was what she was going to do until her phone buzzed.

Encrypted Message – Accept or Decline?

Sarah stared at it perplexed, who was attempting to message her. With a hesitant hand, she clicked accept.

Sarah – Who is this?

Unknown – It doesn’t matter who I am. The president is in danger

Sarah sat up straight, who was this person?

Sarah – Who is this?

Unknown  – Save the president and I’ll tell you

Sarah bristled, who was this person to tell her what to do? She glanced at the screen, feeling uneasy. She knew she shouldn’t trust a stranger but what choice did she have? The least she could do was hear them out.

Sarah – Okay, Tell me what I need to know

Unknown – The man, next to the president he’s a double agent. His gun is loaded with poison, nobody will see it coming when he stabs the President

Sarah – Why should I trust you?

Unknown – Why would I lie?

Sarah gulped and stared at the screen. The guy's gun did look different, it was as she stared at it she realised the texter had a point. The president's bodyguard took a step forward, and Sarah jumped up
“Sir!” she yelled into her comms. A gruff voice  answered her over the comms
“What is it, walker?”
“The bodyguard! He’s got some sort of liquid in his gun, he’s going to poison the president”
“Are you sure Walker?”
“Yes Sir” Sarah watched on the monitor as her supervisor grabbed the bodyguard and pinned him. He yanked out the tranq gun, Sarah smiled in relief as her supervisor grinned
“Well, done Walker!” Sarah grinned and turned back to her phone only to find the previously encrypted line was now dead.

Over the next few weeks, seventeen-year-old Sarah Walker talked to the mysterious texter numerous times. He told her his name was Aces, a code name she was sure. She learnt he was a similar age to her and that he was an exceptional hacker. He would help her hack into things that were unhackable, in fact, they were such a good team that her superiors were beginning to get suspicious. She managed to play it off as her father's training but knew that the CIA didn’t believe her. Still, it wasn’t like they cared so long as she continued to yield results. As the years progressed Sarah and Aces grew close, she learned that he had a sister who was studying neurology. She learned that he had been accepted into the school of his dreams and that he had been unfairly expelled. She didn’t know which school however nor did she know his sister's name, she knew his nickname was Chuck and that when he was expelled he joined the Marines. It was a year after he joined the Marines however when all communications with him stopped. The last message he sent told her he was going on a mission and wouldn’t be able to talk for a while.

After a few months, she began to get worried and began searching for him, she managed to keep it from her new partner. That was until he found her file and blew her mind open. He sat her down and said he knew who she was looking for, that they were college roommates. Sarah bristled; Chuck's roommate was the one who framed him for cheating. When she said so Bryce merely frowned, saying he had his reasons. Sarah would have argued that no reason was good enough until Bryce told her Chuck was dead. Sarah fell back onto her bed, staring at Bryce with wide eyes.
“What?” she asked, scared. Bryce sat down next to her
“He… I take it you know he went into the marines?” he asked. Sarah nodded numbly
“He went on a covert operation, I’m not privy to the details but whilst over there he went missing. They found him six months later, he was announced dead on sight”
“No” Sarah whispered. Bryce bit his lip
“I can prove it to you..” Sarah gulped and nodded. That night she found herself on a plane to Burbank. As she later found herself standing in front of a grave she knew that her nightmare was real. In front of her lay the only boy that had ever mattered, the only person that knew her true name. In front of her lay the grave of Chuck Bartowski, a beloved Brother, friend and Son. As she stared at the grave she began to feel cold. The thought that she could have a real friend was now dead and as she realised that Sarah Walker became closed off.

It was this Sarah Walker that was tasked to find a hacker that had eluded the N.S.A and C.I.A for years. It was this closed-off Sarah Walker that was tasked with finding Charles Carmicheal.
