Work Text:

The second Pran comes out of the bathroom after his shower, Pat is on him, pulling his face in with both hands and placing loud, wet kisses all over both his cheeks. He laughs and pushes at Pat’s naked shoulder only half-heartedly.

“Ai’Pat, stop! I’m trying to get ready!”

Pat pouts and gives him three more obnoxious kisses before releasing him so he can put his shirt on. “I’m just trying to show my boyfriend some love on our first Valentine’s Day together,” he says, sulking, as he throws his own shirt on and looks forlornly over his shoulder at Pran.

Pran rolls his eyes and throws his towel in the hamper, picking up Pat’s socks from yesterday and throwing those in, too. “Maybe you could show me some love by putting your clothes in the hamper, then,” he mutters under his breath. He smiles at Pat to show he’s not too annoyed and goes to make breakfast.

He’s just adding an extra dollop of condensed milk to both his and Pat’s pieces of toast when Pat comes barreling towards him again with a shit-eating grin and something in his hands. He manhandles Pran until his back is towards him, and then Pran starts to feel light touches against the upper half of his back. He cranes his neck to see what Pat is doing and sees a flash of sparkly purple. He turns back to the front and smiles down at his hands in front of him. Pat is putting heart stickers on his shirt.

“Pat,” he says, quietly, “what are you doing? This is for when you have a crush! We’re already together.”

“I know.” Pran can hear the smugness. “But I want everyone to know they have no chance with you. I can’t tell people we’re together, but I can make it seem like their chances with you are miniscule. Because they are.”

Pran feels several more hearts being placed before Pat speaks again. “Turn.”

He does and Pat pulls out another pack of heart stickers and begins diligently sticking them to the front of Pran’s shirt, the tip of his tongue sticking out of the side of his mouth in concentration.

“Ok, I think I’m all out. That should be enough.” Pat smiles up at him, face shining and Pran’s heart feels too big for his chest and he has to tip Pat’s chin up and give him a deep kiss, pressing him into the counter.

“Happy Valentine’s Day, baby,” Pran whispers as he pulls away, backing up so Pat can leave for class.

“I did good, didn’t I?” Pat asks, eagerly.

Pran huffs a laugh and Pat pokes at one of his dimples that must be showing. Pran slaps his hand away. “Yeah, yeah, you did good. Now go to class.”

Pat plants one last kiss on his cheek, picks up his toast, and heads over to grab his bag. “I’ll be back early tonight, just like we planned. Korn is gonna cover for me on our group project.”

Pran nods, but isn’t paying attention, he’s pulled open the catch-all drawer and is eyeing the packet of heart stickers that he’d hastily shoved in there earlier in the week. He hadn’t been sure he was going to use them, they’d seemed kind of cheesy, but he’d seen them while he’d been grocery shopping, and he’d had to pick them up. Now they sparkled up at him from amongst the boxes of pens and rolls of tape and extra pairs of scissors that somehow kept multiplying.

“Ok, see you later, dimples,” Pat calls, pulling open the door.

“Wait!” The word is out of his mouth before he makes the conscious decision to say it.

Pat stops and looks back at him, brows furrowing. Pran snatches the packet and hurries over to him, tapping the door closed with his foot. He stands in front of Pat and opens the clear plastic that’s covering the sheet of stickers, sliding them out and choosing the best one.

Pat’s sticker sheets had dozens and dozens of sparkly hearts of various sizes, but Pran had picked a set with just five giant hearts, each with a sentiment written across it.

Pran picks one and peels it slowly off the sheet, looking up from his work into Pat’s eyes as he deliberately presses it onto Pat’s shirt directly over his heart and slides his finger around the edge of it to make sure it adheres well and won’t fall off during the day.

‘Mine’ the sticker proclaims in sparkly red letters across a pink background. And he had best not forget it.
